These flutes are very pleasant to work with and repairing them is a pleasure. They are pleasant to hold in your hands and they obey the master. They are not at all capricious. I speak as a master with 33 years of experience.
I have a Pearl flute that I asked for some information on. I sent my serial number and had a lovely reply saying it was built in Japan using 900 silver (coin silver) and is an early example of Pearl flutes. It still plays beautifully. I can recommend Pearl if you want craftmanship that is built to last. I have had this one for 20 plus years and have had basic servicing and no serious issues.
Very interesting. I have a Pearl flute. AND I also am a percussionist and also play Peal drums!! I love to play both equally. A strange combination of instruments. But after decades of hauling drum sets around, I took up flue, because I love it’s sound and versatility. But it’s soooooo much easier the carry!!
I've worked at a California based music sales and service center and only saw a Pearl flute once; well-used but seemed to work AOK. I thought at the time it was just a cheap student knock-off low-C closed-hole flute that ripped-off the Pearl Drums brand name 😄... only in recent years did I realize that it wasn't an anomalous aberration 🫨
I recently purchased a used gold plated pearl flute and it is an absolutely beautiful instrument. I would love to get some more information on it.
