Awesome people like you helped my parents during tough times to ensure the school year would go well for us. I used to get depressed seeing back to school signs in the stores. I dreaded going back with every part of me. The happiness of summer vacation was my everything. Supplies are cute and fun but having to go back to school was everything but that. Feels good to be free now.

As a parent that has struggled I am very grateful for people like yourself. Not once in this did you say anything that showed and belittling or negativity towards the people you are helping. It’s not always easy to be the one asking for help. Also you picked things out that you would give to your children. I listen to a lot of your videos and enjoy them. Thank you for being so giving to others.

You are so wonderful for volunteering to buy these supplies for students. Such a kind and sweet gesture. You have touched my heart. I teach in a title one school and we do not send out a supply list. I personally buy the school supplies for each one of my students every year. I know the teachers of the students you are buying for are truly grateful. You're the best.

yeah, here in the Philippines, the local government provides everything the students needs, from uniforms, PE uniform, black shoes, rubber shoes, socks, school supplies, bags, everything 😁 also for the teacher's supplies. And in private schools like where my son is enrolled, the supplies, bags, socks, lunch bags are included in the tuition fees so we dont really buy school stuff anymore,we just need to buy them school uniform and books, that is why i missed buying school supplies, its fun!

Interesting, in Poland (back when I was going to school anyway) there weren't any detailed lists like that, parents knew that a kid needed notebooks for each class (some kids would use one for many subjects, as it always happens), something to write with and a few subject-specific items (like a ruler for Maths or some paint for Art classes). There was no "bulk buying", you just buy what you need and a teacher might tell you in the middle of the semester that 'hey, we will be using crayons next week' so you buy the kid some crayons. The parent could decide what quantity of supplies the kid needs so the initial purchase wasn't as hard for the wallet. On the other hand you could clearly see class differences between the kids.

It's still generally the same in the United States. You are more likely to find a school or district taking on a more generalized and most likely a poorly organized effort in taking mass donations. These school lists are a more recent practice (as I imagine it helps on multiple fronts, i.e getting more specific needs met, being a far more organized and cleaner process and it probably helps to some degree in the anti bullying department and it helps a kid to know that their community cares a bit.)
You also see the wealthier and more public of people looking to boost the public relations and charity games for various reasons, most of which are good....probably.... 😜

I never even considered before that in other countries they aren’t asked to provide school supplies and how bizarre it is that we need to do that for public schools… really alienating for children whose family cannot afford everything too.
Not to mention students have to buy new clothes and backpacks.

I'm not a griper and I've happily donated supplies to schools but no student in the history of human civilization has used more than a single glue stick in their educational journey. Don't even get me started on those loose pink eraser jokes lol talk about useless junk 🤣
I used to hate back to school, but now that it doesn't matter as an adult (no summer break), I love it because it means Halloween is coming up....

As a teacher it made my heart happy to see you grab the Ticonderoga pencils. 😂 I laughed the first time a teacher told me she had a favorite brand of pencils. After having to sharpen ALL of the kids' pencils with a hand-crank sharpener because of COVID, though, I very quickly understood. Ticonderoga for the win!
so nice of u, growing up i was one of the kids that would get supplies from other parents or teachers, it helps out so much and definitely made me feel less embarrassed cause i had everything i needed

shopping for school supplies was one of my favorite things to do when i was younger! i graduated last year during the pandemic so i didn’t get to shop for anything :( this is bringing up such good memories
I'm going to be a junior in high school and have always looked forward to school shopping lol. I have the dates for tax free weekend set in my calender lol. I would totally take you with me if i could, but I'll keep you in spirit!😘

And after that point my siblings and I just just reused and used whatever extras we had at home and bought whatever speciality stuff like binders or calculators we needed. Some of my teachers after the first day have had wishlists as well

Here in France we have supplies lists too in public school. BUT for people who have not enough money, you get money from the state for buying it. It is very controverse because some of them doesn't use it the good way. As a solo mum, i'am very thankfull for having it for my kids. They don't have to feel ashame.

You're absolutely awesome! Getting the coolest stuff for kids in need. I'm 16, in 10th grade and back when I needed all that stuff my mom tried to get stuff but we always couldn't afford it. I'm so thankful that you're doing this for these kids!

I work there and in the morning it's pretty dead quiet, it starts getting busy on the weekends around 10-11 am.

As a graduate i love shopping back to school for office things that are cheaper this time of year.

Here in the netherlands ( when i was in primary school ) we didn't need to get stuff for the school but we needed to decorate and fill a shoebox with schoolstuff and toiletries for children in Africa. It is called schoenmaatjes, i loved doing it and knowing i'd make a child happy with a decorated package full of gifts :)

I've been going through all of these videos in the stores, organizing ones as well, and they've helped me so much. Aside from the fact that I, myself, am a bit of a chronic organizer (including stores, oops), there's something about it that just seems to help me with my anxiety and depression; putting order where I can eases the feeling of despair for not being able to organize, or control, that which I cannot. Thank you so much for doing these videos. They truly make a difference to a lot of us, I believe.

Bringing water bottles to school is like the best change that has happened to school children. We weren't allowed to bring water bottles to school when I was in school, and we just had to wait for the opportunity to get to line up at the drinking fountain. We must have been perpetually dehydrated.

Hey Mary as a young lady who just went through the 7th grade and is going into 8th I think the 7th grader girl would highley appreciate an emergency girl kit if your a woman you know its better to be prepared and not have to stress instead of being unprepared and worry. I also just want to thank you for providing these kids who may not have much with not just school supplies but little extra gifts . You have motivated me to do this when I'm grown. I did not sleep much last night and even though your not whispering your still so relaxing. Sorry for rambling.

I hated school growing up but I loved certain teachers. Now, as an adult, I enjoy learning. I think most people hate because it's forced and a lot of kids are held to unreasonable standards and get bullied and or left out. I'm hoping this year is different for everyone, God bless, and if you're reading this dreading school just know you're gonna be okay and I promise everything is gonna be great
