    For the Account Wide Rep thing Ruri, there is 19 years of assorted systems pointing directly to it, so they need to make sure a bunch of phasing and questing flags don't implode.

      Yeah, I think Rurikhan kinda missed the boat on this and several of the other points that Ion was making. It's easy to "armchair developer" the game and say "Hey you blizzard idiots why don't you just do thinks like this, obviously doing it this way would be better hurr durr". It feels like the main point of this presentation by Ion was to try to peal back the curtain a little bit and let us know WHY blizzard hasn't made these "obvious" changes before now.
      There were hardcoded system limitations that prevent them from doing what the playerbase wants. It is regrettable that they haven't been able to fix the system or come up with solutions sooner but you have to have a bit of empathy to understand that they aren't just idiots who didn't think to do these things and they weren't just spitefully refusing to do them even though the playerbase wanted them.
      At one point he seems to get upset that Ion is making light of the situation where you have to do the convoluted currency exchange rigmarole to get a certain type of currency transferred from one character to another. He takes away from that joking that Ion and the developers had the ability to just instantly wave a magic wand and do accountwide rep but instead chose to put in the stupid system that exists. This is a juvenile take. The convoluted system was put into the game as a temporary bandaid fix until they had the time/resources to role up their sleeves and actually fix the underlying system/coding to allow this to work the way that we all know that it should work in a game that is out in 2023.

    Randomness with loot in PvE is such an unnecessary problem. Loot does not have to drop off of bosses. You can get currency for your kills and then just buy whatever you actually need and want. Once I have all the things that I want, I still like to play... I like alts and to play with my friends.

      @@Sephvion Not doubting that, I've heard the same from most. However its one thing praising a game and its another to constantly go "Well...not to be that guy again, but WoW wasnt the first to do this" or "If these heroic talent trees excite you, you should see GW weapon combination playstyles". Obviously not word for word of what he said but more or less accurate.

    Hold the F up. Blizzard has not always loved Paladins. In vanilla there was only ONE spec you could play in a raid, unless you were lucky enough to be pitied by your guild. TBC made 2 specs viable, Holy and Prot, but ret was just a buff bot that maintained judgments. It was not until wrath that the whole class was finally viable. So I don't want to hear this warrior propaganda BS that Blizzard has always loved Paladin. As a Ret main, i still to this day have a chip on my shoulder from Vanilla and TBC.

    I'm confused. You said before the vault I could just run the dungeon as much as I want until I get the loot I want. How is that different from now? I can run Mythic+ dungeons as much as I want as long as I or someone has a key. True there is less loot per dungeon dropped in Mythic+, that was accurate. But I can just run more keys. I can just search the group finder for the dungeon I want at the level I want until I get the pieces I want. How does the vault stop me from doing that? Maybe I am just not understanding your point.

    • @RurikhanUnleashed
      @RurikhanUnleashed  10 місяців тому +3

      Because the loot is so damn stingy that running m+ for loot is barely worth your time and the rng of what you get is terrible.

    • @Moriahari
      @Moriahari 10 місяців тому

      @@RurikhanUnleashed Thanks for the clarification! That makes sense and also brings your point about extra mob clear to get more loot into better focus. I think some kind of system to get more would be good. Maybe adding like a bonus objective, like clearing extra % of Mobs, or a bonus side boss similar to the one in Old Stratholme.

    I stopped doing raids and dungeons because addons take decisions away from you and you just do what the addon/wa says. (and the timer in the case of M+)
    At some point I asked myself what I am even doing here staring at timers, bars, arrows, and radars. It went as far as fighting bosses without even looking at them once during the fight even as a non healer. Don't get me wrong, I like doing difficult PvE content, but the type of difficulty presented to me is totally unenjoyable.
    And I haven't even started talking about the runbacks to bosses or mandatory warlocks in pugs for summoning. PvE needs a complete overhaul.

    Yes, Blizzard stole from EQ and made it better, the other MMO's stole from WoW and made it better, now Blizzard get's those ideas stolen again and make them work better. It were always like this, nothing new here tbh. Basically at every expansion announce of Blizzard, we always say the same things.

    Long comment below talking about several of the points brought up in the video. TL:DR is that a lot of the "just make it work" stuff is not something that Blizzard has the skill/freedom/resources to do right now and I hope they will get all of this sorted out before 2030.
    I would love for the default WoW ui to just be weakauras but better so that I could just use that. The problem with this the limited development resources(yes seriously) and what would need to be sacrificed for that level of UI customization to be possible. In WoD, garrisons took enough dev resources that it cost 1 raid tier, even with the Microsoft takeover I doubt that they could replace the majority of addons with default UI and have it be as good or better than the free addons that exist now. It is just not worth the investment right now when there are so many other problems to attend to.
    For the warband reputation sharing, the structure of the server for character data is so intertwined with the rest of the game that changing it will take a lot of careful small tweaks and building a new server is not really possible because every alt is put into the table as a separate character with no connection to an account. I do agree that they should "just fix it" however, I do not believe they have the competence to do that quickly so they have to go slow to avoid any major problems or loss of character data.
    The whole beta/PTR thing is two-fold, they cannot afford to have another expansion fail and currently it is an issue of trust. Blizzard made an ok expansion with Dragonflight but, a lot of the players are nervous that this whole 3 expansion saga will be terrible. The devs do not have the trust or leeway of the players when making new expansions any more and so use the beta/PTR in order to show people that the expansion is not another Shadowlands. They really need to let the players know that the game is worth investing time and money into, PTR is the best possible marketing for that purpose.
    Second, there are players that know the game better than most of the current devs and are able to provide invaluable feedback on class/spec design. No developer would turn down the option of getting that feedback especially when Blizzard has a bad track record of balance and design choices, same applies to delves as well. The devs are not skilled enough to really test their own game when compared to the best players. They do not have the equivalent of Yoshi P. on Black Mage drilling through the fights. If the overall quality of PvE declines in WoW the game will suffer a lot so they need players that know the game inside and out to test it. The choice is between having a mostly solved game on launch or having the chance for a series of bad PvE interactions in M+ and raid. Blizzard is incapable of testing their content to the same degree that most of the top players do and that is not going to change.
    While I 100% agree that story should be kept out of the public eye until the game launches, WoW has always been bad at actually telling its story to the players in the game and frankly I would rather have a spoiled story(assuming I chose to look at the datamining) if it means the rest of the game will be good/great.

    Hard mode token farming in BC was so much better and you could buy any gear you want on a daily basis. Ofc you had a daily lockout, like a weekly for raids, but atleast the progress was in your hands. My only problem is with the vault, ever since it got introduced, that if you want to farm a Mythic+ dungeon for a BiS item you can do it freely, but there is still a chance that you get the same item you worked hard for from the weekly drop with increased item level...
    They should change the system similar to the PvP section: you run an instance, you receive a certain amount of currency based on your effectiveness (Conquest), then with said currency, you buy any item of your choosing, or buy a craft material to build an item from it. Scrap the vault...

    Overall, the one thing I'm happy about all of this is the fact that the devs look much happier now! If you look back at previous blizzcons, they looked a lot more...muted? Either way, seeing them smile a lot more and have an energy I haven't seen in YEARS is a good sign for me!

    im maybe worse because Ive actively for over a year and half bad mouthed blizz and wow and stupid metzen made me think hmm seems interesting then this deep dive intrigued me more, i might even buy a what sword shirt lol i like account wide stuff have had that for years in gw2, delves are key for me since I refuse to join guilds or associate with people in games lol and im all in on bran as well the story seems fine,metzen is good so I bet itll be decent and sounds like activision not really being a prime aspect now gives blizzard some hope of reform. i likely wont decide until next summer if i buy it then goof my way through dragon nonsense to catch up by fall so we will see

    For those people who pair professions like, Mining and Blacksmithing, think about how much time they will save by having two gathering professions on the same character. You can collect skins and flowers, or flowers and ores, etc... It's so much better because then the characters that I plan to use in dungeons and raids will get the stat perks that come from the crafting professions. It is such a healthy, good feeling improvement to the game.

    18:25 the problem is that it is a progression content like Raid, so need to be balance to not be better than them in the loot or they would create a problem similar to M+ in BfA in which making that content was mandatory in many guilds to keep your spot in the raid. ALL loot progression content must be equally balanced to prevent one from becoming mandatory/conditional on the others. and you can't put more and more difficult content that can be infinitely scalable because otherwise you would need the same thing in all the content in addition to more gear and the numbers and scale would go to shit.

    They can't just apply the rep everywhere. A lot of quests, event, progression and rewards is linked to rep, so being exalted without having done the quests would break a lot of stuff on those characters that have not done the quests etc.
    There's also reps with choices that you can't get both at exalted (scyer and that other one which the name escapes me right now from Burning crusade, from exemple)

    About Vault I cant agree with you... I play alone, I am the last one of my friends and guild playing, so I only do LFR and some week my lucky is so low that I dont get any loot, only 1 from the Vault in the next week, like a consolation prize... And its not giving you loot, you have to do something to earn, if you dont do you dont receive...

      Is this because of my thoughts on the vault? Because the vault has been in the game for quite some time now. It’s not a new thing and apart from pvp getting out, there’s nothing new about it. Because beyond that… I’d say I’m surprisingly positive about war within even if I still have quite a few reservations on account of being burned by blizzard before… more times than I can count.
