Just a quick tip that I use is to have a dish with some powdered cinnamon in it and immediately dip the cut in into the cinnamon. It will stop the flow of the sap and keep you from getting it on yourself or on anything else. I also use it on Hoya cuttings too as it has a antibacterial properties and is safe for the plants.

I chopped my Rubra about 3 weeks ago. I let them callous and dipped them in Cinnamon then put them in Perlite until they root until I transfer them to semi hydro. I’ve got everything crossed that the 3 props grow successfully. I grow all my plants in semi hydro and find that my succulents love it. Thank you for your interesting video. A small tip. Mark the bottom end with a small dot - I used a small marker pen - because once they are cut, it is impossible to tell the difference. Warm greetings from Scotland, UK

HI Carmen, great detailed advice about euphorbias! Personally I rescued a trigona from a person who was culling his deceased mother's plants. I took pictures of this mess, and the journey it took to get it back to health. Today it's in a pot that is hard to move because it's so large! Totally worth the effort! FUN plant but HOLY COW, it's hard to clean up, those spines!!!! I give it a good shower and then use my dog air force dryer to blow off and dislodge the dead leaves inside! Works great!

What I am really in interested in knowing, Carmen, is how to start a Euphorbia so that it will increase girth-wise as well as in height. I have a great room with a high ceiling and the Euphorbia grow wonderfully in it, all year round (I live in Canada). I have re-set things on a couple occasions by repotting a section of the main stem. BUT the width of the base stem never increases, so I get a very tall, skinny plant with branches (i.e a candelabra). The very first one I purchased (probably 15 years ago) was stumpy but very thick, and so it developed into a strong, broad-stemmed plant.
What about those leaves at the top? I get LOTS of them but have never figured out how to create a new plant from one of them. I would think this is possible, or why would the plant produce them in the first place (unless they really help with photosynthesis). Any suggestions? Some websites say this plant never flowers, or never produces seeds, and some say the exact opposite (some websites say both!!!). But I do not see a source for seeds on the 'net anywhere.
    Ideas?

I definitely need to do this, my trigona looks very much like the one you showed, with the misshapen/decayed areas and elongated growth - it’s like 5ft tall now and I had to add a bamboo stick to keep it up 🙄😂
Since restaurants seem to always forget to give me my chopsticks, I tend to keep a bag of bbq skewers from the dollar store around for propping up plants 😊

Love the video on propagation! I do not know what the name of my plant is but it's tall about 4 ft. and bought it at 1/2 ft. tall. It's a die hard. It has branches going all different angles and is quite healthy and no maintenance. How can I tell if it's a euphorbia or a cactus though? Could you do a video on how to tell a person what they have?

Hi Carmen this came at the perfect time. I have an Euphoria that is 4ft tall. I propagated one stem that I noticed had bent over and was wrinkled in spots. The main stem is solid. Should I trim off the wrinkled arms or leave them to see if they will perk up? Thank you.
