i use a solar charge controller between my rectifier and my battery because it can handle any type of input voltage (up to 70 volts) and convert it to 14.6V for my battery to charge. This solved my problem with the high voltage output my cheap rectifier gave
Merry Christmas 🎁🎄
the amazon coil that I got was garbage, so was the replacement. a simple bench test showed both faulty. ended up getting a Suzuki part and have zero problems now
The dc-dc charger should be connected to your starting battery. You may also be drawing too many amps from the regulator for both batteries. Try and lower the charging amps on the dcdc and see if you get different results. Connecting the dcdc to the starting battery will only draw power from it when the voltage is high enough to charge the lithium, or you can put a relay on the ignition power and use the relay outputs to switch the dcdc on and off.
It’s mostly likely your lithium battery is demanding charge close to 100A and your rectifier can only supply 50A or so. Or you said you had dc to dc charger? Maybe it’s made for lead acid type of battery and need to see some resistance? Try connecting in parallel regular battery to your lithium, that may help you solve the issue
I’ve put cheap Amazon parts on my 70HP 4 stroke Suzuki and on my 40hp 2 stroke evinrude. Both run great. 4 years running strong
Same here 2001 Evinzuki 4 stroke $100 fuel pump. Worked for two years at least till I sold the boat. Suzuki wanted $300.
If you pop for lithium and a Victron, the $100 more for Yamaha part is small change compared to all you have spent upgrading the boat. IMHO. Merry Christmas.
What was the software you were using on your phone?
Victron connect app
Ask yourself this, "Would you trust your life and/or the lives of your family/friends to cheap parts?" 🤔
Yes most of the time they are all made by same exact contractor so??
I mean I spent 13 years of my life trusting the life of myself and my friends in the Army, the king of cheap parts and products lol
@@sjd73ss If that's a FACT then O.K.....
This isn't an airplane, is it?
I'd be concerned about a lithium fire next to my house in the middle of the night.
Thanks for all of the advice. Merry Christmas. I find the cheap parts hit and miss.
Great video. What is the app you are using to check the charging of the battery? Is there a device that also being used? I would love to use that on my boat!
What app and code reader are you using? Thanks.
the problem with the cheap ones is that they are very rpm-dependent, that means voltage may exceed safe levels when you throttle up. And while it's sort of ok on a lead acid battery, the lithium one might get damaged, esp without dc-dc converter
THE PROBLEM WITH AMAZON mos tof the parts do come from a chinese base companies , that amazon purchases from all the time then marks up the price . i bet them part came from TEMU ,
I have found they work well but their lifespan is significantly shorter than the OEM version. I had the OEM starter on a Force 90 for 20 yrs before it gave out. No OEM replacements available so I got a quality Amazon replacement. I have to get a new starter every season now.
I tried a cheap rectifier for my Yamaha 9.9 kicker because Yamaha doesn’t have them anymore for my motor. I ended up returning it and found a used one on EBay.
Rectum Regulator from the ‘Zon?
This is what I want to know, do the new dual purpose lifep04 batteries need dc/dc charger protection or not! Let us know what Victron thinks!
with the US right to repair laws they can probably get the circuit diagram for these and you could make your own with 50 times better quality certainly would like the mercury diagrams and could make them for you
Merry Christmas Aaron and thanks for all the great vids! I try to buy only OEM parts. I would never trust anything aftermarket apart from Sierra or EMP.
If the BMS stops charging the Lithium battery, will that cause your rectifier to fail on over voltage?
Works fine for now, probably last a couple years. Not worth the money when it stops working and puts everyones life in danger at the wrong time or ruins a perfect day on the water over a few dollars and that is something you'll never get back. Not worth wrecking potential good memories over money.
mine works fine..
I wonder if all these results will change if you put the boat on full loaf for a while, on the water (fot), radio, lights, gps, everything...maybe this will fry your $12 scam-amazon investment lol. 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
