Got this beast 2 weeks ago and it's been a dream to use. It is a stunner in the kitchen and makes amazing espresso and steams milk like a beast. Having a good grinder is key to maximizing this machine
Great review. Have been enjoying the YOU for 10 months now. I use it to get the best from my home roasted single origins. The machine is well built and surprisingly easily serviceable. And SR has been listening to the user community and has made significant progress with firmware updates. There is a good user community on FB. More updates will come from SR.
Next year i turn 50. Its my turn to splurge on a fantastic machine. Ive seen all your Video's and will make the trek yo visit you in 2024. Thanks for all the help with your knowledge. Really having a tough time choosing to be honest lol.
Thank you very much for that video, I am thinking about getting that machine from you guys, I really like the look and I love that flexibility to play with pressure but with all of that electronic, what is your feel for longevity and ease of maintenance and repair in the long run??
hi def color won't provide a better result. Wrap some RGB lights around the machine to get the bling you desire. 😉 The information on the screen (GUI) and responsiveness to touch is what is important to me.
This is a fantastic video. The machine looks very nice. It is unfortunate that you can’t see the overall graph of the shot while you are in manual mode. I know you stopped carrying rocket. But the rocket R nine one - which does not look as polished - at least lets you see the graph of your shot on screen. In the custom profiles, are there are only 3 stages you can set? The r nine one has 5, and Vbm supers have 7. When you use manual mode, can you save the shots? I see a star button that looks like you can. Ty
Yes you can save your manual shots and then choose to use it again by pressing a single button. With the latest firmware update you now have access to all sort of metrics during the manual shots , and that's a lot of data if you ask me.
Very good video. The only thing missing that prevents me from buying this machine is a connection to a scale (ie Lunar or DiFluid). Being able to design recipes with pressure, flow, and volume would make this the only choice IMO for a high-end machine. I've heard they can implement this as an upgrade with the existing hardware and I have my fingers crossed that this will happen. 🤞
@@richardgarrett3188 The Meticulous does as well but they are rare. You might be waiting a while! I've owned a YOU for about 6 months and I've never heard of scale integration. Having said that, the volumetrics are very consistent. 104mls on one of my profiles nearly always gives a yield of about 36 gms which is ideal for 18gm input.
I have the Synchronika with flow control and I'm going to be upgrading to the Sanremo You. I'm just waiting for them to integrate connecting to a scale. The flow control on the Synchronika is very finicky to me. I find it nary impossible to decrease pressure over a specific period of time. The most complicated pull I do with Roadmap ESPRESSO GIUSTO coffee is: * 20 sec preinfusion at 1/4 turn * 27 sec pull at 6 bar. This requires constant adjusting of the needle valve to maintain. * At 30g in the cup, I bring it back to 1/4 turn for the remaining 8g I'd love to be able to program this into the You and then just have a single button press to repeat. Or to be able to more precisely play with various pressure/flow rates to find the ideal extraction for a specific bean. The You will be my endgame machine.
@@richardgarrett3188 I hear ya. I do like the manual part of it though with the ECM. It's part of my routine and I love the flow of it all. And yes it might not be exactly the same as the pull the day before, but it's really really close if you get your technique down. Even with the ability to store a recipe in the You, beans change over time, and the grind/pull you had on Restday 9 is different from Restday 21. So I'm hesitant in that ability of programming a recipe and it working perfectly every time. I have mine plumbed in and run pre-infusion for about 25s at 1/8 turn. Gets up to about 1.5 bar by the end of the 25s. Once I see a few drops I turn on the pump and go 1/2 turn max which takes me to 7 bar, which I slowly turn back to 4 bar over 30s as I drink lighter roasts with longer pulls to about 55g (20g in). It's pretty consistent for me. Hence why I'm really hesitant in this as an upgrade. Where I am in Canada it's well more than twice the price of the Synk.
@@slappadabass1977 I agree that with the You's programmed shots as it is today, you may see the output volume change as your beans age. Since you can review the shots afterwards on the screen, the programming can be adjusted to compensate for this through the interface as they age, if you wanted to keep up with it. If it ties into a scale, either the time or pressure would be adjusted to get the programmed output volume in the cup, depending on how they implement it. Maybe they will allow the user to select which is adjusted? I try to minimize any change in my beans with my workflow. When I get fresh roasted beans delivered, I separate them into 8oz bags and seal them with a near perfect vacuum (vacmaster vp215) then store them in the freezer. I pre-measure and store my doses in Normcore coffee bean cellars. I load the 12 tubes with 18gr doses with a bit extra in the last. This will normally last me ~5 days.
Nice machine and I like that rotary pump with controllable output but the built in screen is a bad idea. Should be a tablet! At least this company is trying something new but that price is just insanely high. I have a Decent Espresso machine so you know I'm not about to change.
These coffee machines are way too expensive !! How many can afford this? I am poor flair and creatista pro graces my coffee station and I get fantastic espresso extraction
So in Australia the San Remo is about A$10,000 and the grinder is about A$3,000 so A$13,000 for a good cup of coffee thats crazy for an amateur home barista - I'm happy with my Breville Barista Touch Impress thank you and it ONLY cost A$2,000 and makes superb coffee
As far as hobbies go it is fairly reasonable. It's a once in a lifetime purchase and will likely outlive the buyer, unlike the Breville which will end up in landfill. People spend thousands of dollars on material objects including cars, fashion, PCs, mountain bikes, gym memberships etc.
Thanks Slavic, I've been watching this machine for a while and anxiously awaiting your review.

Thank you for such a good video, Slavic! Is this machine better than Rocket R nine one?
Yes , by a mile
While the San Remo is beautiful, the Malkönig grinder (for me), stole the show. IDC has become my "go to" dealer. As always, a great video.

@@eric2005 Decent connects with a scale and allows you to program shots with final weight in mind.
