Wait, where is Leia? Is she okay?
She's having a day off. You guys get the videos all spread out because it takes several days of work just to edit one ratting video. But for a big ratting where we have to travel to the location, we do all of the work back to back, for several days in a row. So after a couple days of work, it's common that one or two of the dogs need a break. Also, I will often rotate the dogs who work, if the spot we are ratting at doesn't really need all the dogs there.

14:39 Here, Bindi suddenly sees a small rat pop out, goes after and dispatches it, drops it and immediately goes back to watching the area she saw 2 bigger rats pop their heads out before @14:32.
This shows Bindi's intelligence in knowing when to drop rats into the bucket and when to focus on the job at hand.
It's moments like these that truly makes Bindi such a special dog.
This is oddly relaxing. Between the squeaks, rustling of metal, and "Good dogs" I'd count this as rural ASMR. 10/10

They are terriers. They have been used for ratting way before they were ever used for fighting
"Bindi bucket!" never gets old.
It's almost automatic for Bindi now to drop rats into the bucket after she catches them without Joe even having to tell her.

I am enjoying watching the dogs mature and learn. Bindi is really maturing and Tag in the last two videos has really started to be coming a terror for the local rats. Gypsy is just a steady worker. Love watching them do what they are meant to do.
Bindi is just a machine and she puts them in the bucket as well!! Amazed how the dogs don't seem to hurt themselves with all the sharp things around.

I love watching Bindi work. She reminds me so much of my Jessie girl who's now passed away catching chipmunks under my deck, squirrels anywhere she could find them, and even the occasional possum or rabbit.
Watching Jessie hunt alongside my own "long-legged lurcher", Bailey, was something else. Jess was so much faster off the line, and Bae would get mad and start trying to catch Jess instead of whatever critter they were chasing and wind up grabbing her sister instead. I was much more comfortable letting them hunt together than alone because I knew either one by themself had a much better chance of success. ❤️ 🐕

I agree she is coming along well, less puppy hijinks and some solid ratting, but to become top dog? Not a chance. Since the loss of Boss, Bindi has stepped right into place as leader of the pack, and only getting wiser. Tag will be a solid mid-pack ratter with Leia at best.

One of Tag's biggest issues is she just does not have the drive nor the intensity the others have. She acts too much like a big goofy pet. At her age, Bindi was already a solid ratter and was 100% with the program. Now does that mean Tag is useless at ratting? No. If she continues to improve, I think she will probably have a permanent place in the team, but not a prominent one.
I do wonder if one of her parents came from a pet or show line, and not a working line. The sort of intensity needed in a top notch ratter would be an absolute nightmare in a housepet.

No offense to Tag, but she just doesn't have all the traits like intelligence, prey drive, focus etc to be top dog. Dogs with these traits usually shine through even at a young age, like Bindi for example.
With the passing of Boss(RIP) and Sherni(RIP), it's Bindi who holds that torch now.
I love these competition type videos, it's an extra layer of fun to the video.

I think many people overlook the essential work the Mink Dork brings to the group. He is a supportive asset which helps the dogs to work their best. You too should consider getting a Mink Dork for your pest control work.

My hubby and I live in the city with a massive problem with fruit rats. Finally, our attic is proofed, but they have torn up the cushions in our boat and have set up house in our big shed, and literally anywhere else there is a cubby. Stinks so bad we tear everything apart to clean and rat proof (temporarily). This is way better! Your dogs and minks are phenomenal.

I'm sure they must from time to time. As best as I can tell, their pads are just tough enough that it doesn't typically do any damage.

Really is nothing like watching dogs perform beautifully and knowing you're the reason they're able to achieve that creates pride in them pride in your own efforts its a wonderful thing.
