I accidentally bought a dip pen when I needed a fountain pen for drawing 😩

I think the main difference isn't even the writing instruments, (aside from Havi to to dip the feather pen ofc) but the ink. The ink is very different, it's much more watery and wet for fountain pens, while it's thicker for dip pens. That's why many comics artists use dip pens
I have had a lot of success using fountain pen ink with dip pens but you can't use calligraphy ink in fountain pens because it will clog them. Also you can achieve greater line variation with nibs. There are no modern fountain pens that can do that well.
I use Indian ink for my watercolor drawings and it would clog the pen after every few uses, so I would have to clean is again and again so I tried dip pen and found it more convenient to use for drawings a they write better on watercolor.
I wanted the dip pen experience, but I couldn't have the open pen sitting around. So, I ended up trying several pens and landed on my current favorite, the Lamy Safari. I removed the ink cartridge it came with, and use it to dip into my bottle of Waterman blue ink, and have the best of both worlds. Obviously if I wanted a flexible nib I would have to address that specifically, as the Safari doesn't flex.
Nice, you can also consider a desk pen. One advantage of the dip pen that isn't replicated is how fine of a point you can get with a dip pen. Something you might want in the future.

A fountain pen or dip pen brings a new attention to this old task, could make you slow down and write "nicer" but improvement in handwriting comes from one thing - practice. Best of luck.
Can you explain why you think cursive is good ? I have always heard that print is better and have been advised and pushed to write with print since I was in pre school.
But I also like cursive and copperplate calligraphy better, it's very beautiful and artistic
I have a lot of videos on this but I think it's good because it's hardered and forces your brain to work more. There is a lot to learn with cursive if you dive deep and I agree it's a very beautiful and artistic practice.
What is the cheap fountain pen brand?
I don’t have one yet, but a cheap pen that I heard is good is the Jinhoa x750.
I have a massive pen collection but no fountain pen I want to know if u think pilot is a good fountain pen and can u recommend a good paper all my paper is for gel/ballpoint pens
Yes I would say Pilot produces excellent fountain pens. I would suggest the Metropolitan as an entry level pen. You may also want to order from a reputable dealer such as Goulet Pens to ensure you've got some help incase the pen has any issues.
Do dip pens hv feeds , or just the nib?
Dip pens do not have feeds. Only fountain pens have that.
Can we use fountain pen ink in quill pens??

I've never used a quill before so I can't really say, but give it a try. I used fountain pen ink on my dip pens all the time though, so I know they work with a metal nib. I think finding the right paper for your ink is usually the bigger problem.

Hi there, I found this pen holder in an antique store. I've not been able to find anything identical on amazon. The branding on it reads "A. W. Faber HAMLET" it may no longer be in production.

hey what happens if i use comic book ink that is used for dip pens in a fountain pen?
If it is anything but a water based ink it will most likely clog and potentially ruin your pen.

Yes I’ve seen fountain pen users dip into fountain pen ink bottle, especially older ones in which the old filling mechanism needs replaced. But I would urge to not use use dip pen ink with a fountain pen - the inks are very different consistency - dip pen ink will clog a fountain pen.
This used to perplex me as I thought ink was just ink - but to simplify I would only use definitely labelled “fountain pen” ink with such pens. Similarly I think fountain pen ink will too easily flow off a dip pen nib as it’s a lot thinner
