Needs to be consistent. Recommended is in the morning, fasted, after you use the restroom (1 & 2), completely naked. Removes as many variables as possible that could effect the impedance readings.
@WesJH Thanks. I meant, what would be the best tool? This scale, just to monitor the trends, or some other device? I am looking for something accurate to measure body fat and muscle mass. Keep up the great work!
@@rafaelgomez1989 As far as i know, you can't buy a DEXA scan directly like a body fat scale. It's a really big and expensive machine which is used only by medics to measure the body fat accurately. If you really wanna try one, you should make an appointment on your local hospital.
Agree. For most users, at home body scale with fat percentage should be used as monitoring purpose. As long as we see a trend, either going up or down, then we can be satisfied with it. The rest can be confirmed by looking at the mirror. Are we satisfied by what we are seeing. If not, then continue the process with this kind of scale as a tool. While for the minority and the professional who seek the true value of body fat, you just have to go with a DEXA. Great video!!!
Thanks for the forecast! I have a quick question: My OKX wallet holds USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (tag suit turtle raccoon orange fever main skull special hungry crystal mixture) . How can I transfer them to Binance?
James, thank you so much. I’ve had a hell of a time with body fat scales one has stopped working I don’t know why it was expensive. The other one was not accurate. I’m going to pick this up.
Just saying - I have the Renpho version - It measures my bodyfat at 29%. The US Navy formula calculates 19%. The US Navy result seems more accurate using images. So for my body - Renpho seems way off.
Praises for you! I'm a sensitive for bullshit ADHD person, and I'm so glad I found your video because I was loosing my mind trying to figure out which scale was best and whether it was worth the price. Ironically, I didn't even consider cheaper options, as I thought they'd suck. Thank you, my man! 💪
Hey just stumbled across your channel. Wondering how you got the 5% error (or margin of error?) if the +/- is 10 pounds. Do you think it's a consistent 10lb swing in readings or if you have say 40lbs of body fat it would only be +/- 1lb? Looks like you make quality videos so definitely subscribed
2:15 The thing that first come to my mind with these hybrid scales is, why not make it work from one hand to the opposite foot, do it on both sides, and you get a reading that includes the midsection? I mean, the mid section is one of the more important parts in terms of body fat control ..
I believe there's a technical issue with that. the bioelectrical impedance is a minuscule amount that you can't detect. I'm unsure if the distance between hand to foot would require a higher amount of electrical impulse. That would be my best guess.
At the end of the day, isn’t it the direction of any of the measures that is most important? So the absolute number may be important in a health crisis, but for your day-to-day, weak-to-weak, and month-to-month, it’s whatever scale can give you all the data you need and be consistent in it’s measurements so you could understand directional progress. Do you agree?
Wes why did you change your mind about the Fitindex scale? Based on your prior review, you did not really seem to like the scale. What changed? I just bought one and I'm about to try it out. I have the regular fitindex scale and I like it.
Prior was focused on how the scale doesn’t measure body fat accurately, but nor does any at home scale. I’ve always liked the scale as a tool for measuring progress, but not for truth in the actual figures
Any thoughts on the FitIndex ES-26M Smart Scale.. vs the RENPHO lower cost models (like the r-a001 / B09836N144 or VC-ES-26BB-B / B07YFS6GXB or UK-R-A002-BK / B08SJPY5FS)? For example, ease of use switching between users.. or the app interface (how well it charts your data over time), bluetooth vs wifi, etc?
I have a belly. Does a foot scale get up into the belly, or is it mostly the legs and groin? Seems like a hand held misses this area too. I remember one trainer had a device that you placed on different parts around your body (vs 2 hand/foot contacts). Have you seen/tried these?
@@auricia201 thnx. The diagrams are helpful. Still trying to figure out what device takes impedance measurements in different areas of your body not through your limbs (legs or arms)
Hey quick question where can someone go get tested to see where they hold most of there body fat? In the video you talked about you hold body fat in your legs and trunks where can someone get tested to see where they hold body fat? I’m curious
Why not try putting the hands on the scale and measure the body fat of top part of the body unless the hands are bit smaller to fit onto the four electrodes on the scale.
Not yet released, but I have reviewed and utilized the more expensive and robust InBody compared to a DEXA scan. If that can't get it correct, then it's highly improbable Withings new device will. Purely speculative conclusion, but an educated one.
This shit is a scam. I have lost 30 lbs since buying this device. My body fat was 13% when I was 30 lbs heavier. Now it tells me my body fat is 11%. These things don't work
Not sure what they are talking about. But I will say the weight has matched my clinical measurements. Trendline also matches for other measurements (e.g. muscle mass, visceral fat, body fat). Surprisingly hasn't for other more expensive devices. They just aren't the ACTUAL measurements.
@@fernandoluis53 if you don't naturally store much fat in your legs, that reading would make sense, based on how the scales work, as explained in the video
No that is not how your body works. You don’t just loose fat in the area you train, you loose it on the hole body. If you just train your arms, you also loose fat in your legs. Your genetics may effect the results, bc they determine where you ll storage your fat and where you ll loose it first
