Just an addition, another barrier of protection, biological barriers such as antigen identification and macrophages, which protect against foreign threats. I loved how you explained so easily the detail, and importance of the integumentary system! Thank you!
I am so glad you are posting these videos. My professor reads a power point during lecture word for word and then releases us and expects us to remember basically just an essay that she just read to us. Thank you thank you thank you thank you!
I love your videos for Bio! I do not know who you are but watching your lectures on here help me out so much. I accidentally ran by one of the videos when I was looking up info and have since watched other videos on the body. I just thought that you should know how much you are helping people out that you probably didn't even know you were helping. I am happy they are on here and will continue to use them, if I find ones for the chapter I am on in my Anatomy and Physiolgy class. Thanks!
This is an excellent video! We happen to be using the same book in my class so this is exceptionally useful to me. I do not find my instructor's lectures useful so it is so nice to know that there are other resources out there available to me such as this! Thank you!
Glad I'm not crazy! When I heard "Stratum Lucidum", I thought he would clarify that it was the "Stratum Spinosum", but he didn't...........then he repeated Stratum Lucidum again in the thick skin, which is correct! I liked everything else about the video, very helpful, thanks!
There is a mistake at 24:20. The second epidermal layer from the Stratum Basale is not Stratum Lucidum, it's STRATUM SPINOSUM. Moreover, Stratum Lucidum is only present in thick skin, especially in thick skin like in our palms and feet. (If I recall correctly, Stratum Lucidum is quite thin.) (From the deepest to superficial: Stratum Basale > Spinosum > Granulosum > Lucidum > Corneum.) His tutorials are awesome, he talks a lot and breaks things down for students, it is very understandable if he made a few mistakes :p Source: I'm a medical student.
Thank you so much for this. It helped me study for my test today. I'm studying to become a Medical Biller and Coder at Sanford Brown in Garden City, NY.
I wish you were my teacher! You make everything very clear! Thanks for all the videos! I am a very visual learner and I know that my current A in Anatomy is because of your videos! Thanks!
Thank you very much for this, currently revising A&P for my physical health sciences exam at uni mid january and this has been a huge help and I look forward to checking out your other presentations.
@mrm8035 I don't have anything respiratory related up there yet but will get around to it in a few weeks. And thanks for the kind words and for watching the videos. Keep doing well in your class
The only thing I would change about this video is that it is too long, he tends to drag on but otherwise he does a good job explain a lot better then my professors.
Love these videos but the skin layers, as people say go along with the mneumonic, cora lucille's grandmother spins baseballs...from superficial to deep, corneum lucidum, granulosum, spinosum, basale. Would not want anyone to get a bad grade on a test or get confused,
Your video helped my understanding become clearer... hopefully I ace my A&P test tomorrow. :) However you say alright, and, and okay waaay too much and it was kind of making it hard for me to focus lol.
i know its something not to laugh about but it was still funny at 44:13. over all very helpful really put together the function of melanin and where they are located in the layers of epidermis. Moreover, told me some stuff I missed before about the integument system when i read the book myself, thanks man.
skin is genetic, hes meaning changing in skin colour due to enviromental eg when you get sunburnt, most people tan as they need more meloncyts. Gentics has alot to do with skin colour too though. Great video, please upload some videos on digesitive system. Thanks :)
The dog part is so funny Another small confusion, the pouch within the hair bulb is called hair papilla and not the dermal papilla (the dermal papilla is the ups and downs part between the epidermis and the dermis).
Hello Aaron Mullally, Thank you for the lecture and I really learned a lot from your video. But in the video, around 24.15, you made a mistake about Stratum lucidum with Stratum Spinosum. In addition, there are two stratum Lucidum layers in your diagram. Please do something.
I love your videos and THANK YOU so much of making them. but I found that there is a small mistake in this video in layering the epidermis, you missed the stratum spinosum which suppose to be above the basale, not the lucidum as you said (as the lucidum is above the granulosum).
I lean something new today. Dig the sebaceous gland, and hair bulb and root. And melanin can make you hair grey. The dermis gives oxygen to the epidermis. And so much more.
good run until the layers. STRATUM LUCIDUM occurs in thick skin only. It consists of a few rows of flat, dead keratinocytes. Its cells are identical to those at the bottom of the more superficial layer stratum corneum. ** From deep to superficial it goes Stratum Basale, Spinosum, Granulosum, Lucidum, Corneum.
@Melissa341 I'm glad this video was helpful to you and sorry to hear that you aren't getting the best classroom experience. My class is 11 weeks so believe me I know what you are going through, it's a mountain of material to cover in a short period of time, hence these videos. Also thanks for the kind words, I'm again glad I have helped.
Good Video. I was just questioning about the layers of the epidermis. I thought it goes from stratum basale, spinosum, granulesum, lucidum, up to stratum cornium. You said lucidum instead of spinosum, so were you talking about what is lucidum or spinosum?? I'm not trying to be bombastic or something, but the science teacher gave us a paper in which it is drawn like that.
HI there ! What computer program are you using to explain this lesson ! I love it and wish my school explained things this way. It's all lecture with no visuals. This helps tremendously !!!!!!
i wish my teacher was easy to understand like this she just briefly goes over the notes and hurries through the powerpoint and i end up never knowing what she's talking about :(
Can someone please tell me what is the difference between integumentary system and exoskeleton. Hair, feather, scales and horns are examples of exoskeleton or integumentary system.
I have a question. You never covered what keratinize really means. So what does that mean??? I always thought it was another word for protein but i am not sure. If you answer this question it will be really helpful because my anatomy teacher mentions alot about keratinocytes and i am lost when he does cover that type of cell.
@theboys267 I don't have any other videos on the integumentary system but if you go into my channel you'll see I have many other vidoes on other topics.
you said Stratum Lucidem twice, once for below the granulosum and also you refer to it as an area of dying keratinocytes, little confused? sorry if my spellings off i dont start class for another month just preparing early
Hello Currently taking A &P ANY SUGGESTION how to study all this information? we have lab quizzes once a week, and unable to score a high score. Thank you, Jeannette
umm he said stratum lucidum is a rather large area that has mostly keratinocytes that are being pushed up and then he later says stratum lucidum is a short layer not always found. I think he mixed up stratum lucidum with something else
I don't need to pay attention in class.. I can just watch videos on youtube which I find it better. My teacher is asian, so it is hard to understand sometimes.
Forgot stratum spinosum. Turned it off before any more wrong info..I think he realized his mistake but said the stratum lucidum twice. Man and I watched almost 30 minutes of it.
This is a great clip but omg this guy says uhright (alright) every few seconds! It's so annoying! Now he switched to "ok".... Ahh going nuts! Switching to a diff vid!
hate to say this, but you made a mistake in explaining the epidermis. from bottom to top it goes stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, (stratum lucidum) and then stratum corneum. when you first explained stratum lucidum it should have been stratum spinosum. and then u explained stratum lucidum as the second to last layer as well.

Very informative and easy to listen to. Thanks for helping us students out!
@reedcreek420
Thanks for the addition, I wasn't too thrilled with this video and honestly need to redo it. I'm glad this helped you
The only thing I would change about this video is that it is too long, he tends to drag on but otherwise he does a good job explain a lot better then my professors.
You helped me ace my exam! thank you!!!!!

the mistake was not that hard to figure out if you know the layers of the skin.. so NO BIG DEAL. It was a GREAT video.. thanks so much!!
this video is amazing!!! thank you so much, I will be watching your videos to help me study for my state board exam next month :)
thanks a lot for uploading this video...this really helped me as i am studing after a long gap.

@jwrath90
Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad this helped you.
@chinita1418
Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching. I am glad this helped you and good luck on your board exam
you are so much better than my community college teacher. lol. THANK YOU!

Such a great video and incredibly helpful! Keep up the good work.
I lean something new today. Dig the sebaceous gland, and hair bulb and root. And melanin can make you hair grey. The dermis gives oxygen to the epidermis. And so much more.
GIVE THE MAN A BREAK HIS VIDEOS ARE GREAT TOOLS FOR STUDENTS.

@bizzeeboi simply reviewing before important tests. these videos are great for that purpose.
I see someone already mentioned this, but I believe that there is a confusion of Stratum Spinosum with Stratum Lucidum at about 26:45.
Good Video. I was just questioning about the layers of the epidermis. I thought it goes from stratum basale, spinosum, granulesum, lucidum, up to stratum cornium. You said lucidum instead of spinosum, so were you talking about what is lucidum or spinosum??

@luckychester
You are very welcome I'm glad this helped
@starmate
Goodness gracious thanks for the catch, I am going to make a new video soon with the correction in there. Thanks again
Thanks for teaching A&P. You are so awesome! You made it easy to understand.
You are great!! Amazing video.
@rajji28
You are welcome, I'm glad this helped.
@Lizzy19881
You are welcome I'm glad this helped
@LeadingFilly
You are welcome, I'm glad this helped
@skuazzie great point but why are you watching the video if you already know it?
Thank you very much for posting this . It's very helpful.
Great lectures.
I do think salt visible on clothes after working out is a sign of adrenal fatique.
You are very welcome, I'm glad this helped
24:15 shouldn't the stratum spinosum come after the stratum basal?
I thought the second layer of the epidermis is the stratum spinosum..? Stratum lucidum is just thick skin right?
This better help me for my test tomorrow or else I'm doomed D:
stratum lucidum is only present in thick skin, sir.
very thin layer before the stratum corneum i believe
HI there ! What computer program are you using to explain this lesson ! I love it and wish my school explained things this way. It's all lecture with no visuals. This helps tremendously !!!!!!
Great video!
Good brief review of skin, nice one
i wish my teacher was easy to understand like this she just briefly goes over the notes and hurries through the powerpoint and i end up never knowing what she's talking about :(
highly expressive video
really helpful who should I give the credit to
You are the best!!! thank for your help....

Do you have any other videos? You made this video similar to my lecture class
you said Stratum Lucidem twice, once for below the granulosum and also you refer to it as an area of dying keratinocytes, little confused? sorry if my spellings off i dont start class for another month just preparing early
SKUN! :) haha.. but seriously.. this video helped me a lot in my reporting at school! thank you very very much.. :)
What book do your lectures correspond with?
@IAmTheBest35
?
Hello
Currently taking A &P ANY SUGGESTION how to study all this information? we have lab quizzes once a week, and unable to score a high score.
Thank you,
Jeannette
Thank u for your help
umm he said stratum lucidum is a rather large area that has mostly keratinocytes that are being pushed up and then he later says stratum lucidum is a short layer not always found. I think he mixed up stratum lucidum with something else
thank you thank you!!!
The layer above the stratum basale should be stratum spinosum not lucidum....this is a mistake.
Thanks ! XD
I don't need to pay attention in class.. I can just watch videos on youtube which I find it better. My teacher is asian, so it is hard to understand sometimes.
U forgot to add the stratum spinosum
Come, Let's, Get, Some Beer!
Corneum, lucidum, granulosum, spinosum, basale, all of those are stratums. Or, Cornelium Lucidly granulates spiny baths.
Blood resivoir is spelled "reservoir".
What book is this chapter 4 to?
best video ever!!
How can anyone learn from all the jumbled writing? :/
You confused stratum lucidum with stratum spinosum this is an incorrect layer sequence you are teaching.
I thought skin color is genetic?!
Other than that, great video!
I don't have an anus... and frankly I'm deeply offended
hate to say this, but you made a mistake in explaining the epidermis. from bottom to top it goes stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, (stratum lucidum) and then stratum corneum. when you first explained stratum lucidum it should have been stratum spinosum. and then u explained stratum lucidum as the second to last layer as well.
More study time and its hard to solve this gigantic human puzzle
Lol, Try doing Comprehensive A&P it in 10 weeks ....
This ia wrong!!!! Second layer is NOTTTT statum lucidum. Its statum spinoaum :(((( omg the vid was just getting good. Now im cutting it off b4 more wrong info :((((
what's spinoaum? lol
college student
"Alright"
I Love you
