    Busting out those Winchester catalogs brought me back. Used to keep Winchester Ruger Weatherby and other catalogs beside the toilet to dig through and find rifles and shotguns of my dreams. I remember as a kid I always wanted a 458 Lott or 460 Wby because it was the biggest cartridges in the catalogs by the toilet.

      I would say TMI but I was that same person but 60+ years ago and my wife made me get Rid of the magazines it was either them or her and I found out 14 years later I made the wrong choice in getting rid of the magazines 😳 I am a seriously gunaholic and with about 2,500 guns I have bought over the years I don’t see any chance of being cured🤔😳🤣 There is only 2 channels I watch and really like and I tell my 3 sons who hunt that if they want to learn something about rifles or hunting yours is the ONLY channel I recommend! Thanks for all the hard work it shows in your videos🙌@@desertdogoutdoors1113

    Fantastic episode! I love those Winchester catalogs that you have. Your collection of not just guns but everything else that goes along with hunting must be incredible. And yes a pre 64 M70 or a Mauser 98 do not deserve to be turned into a 22 Creedmoor!!!! 🤮🤮🤮

    In a saturated shilled media environment, this is one of the few video resources I can give unqualified praise; the combination of practical experience and historical reference is ace (the book recommendation videos remain my favorite and I hope you keep up with them periodically). A QRD on what a Newsom Presidential candidacy from a hunter/2A perspective might be helpful in these spheres if that materialized between now and November.

    I used grampas old rubber waders in the flood in 2001 and they rubbed everywhere and caused sores. I bought a set of chest waders 3 years ago and they are that new lightweight material that hiking tents are made out of. They are comfortable but only lasted 2 years before leaking.

    Awesome video! Desert dog you had so many excellent answers for a lot of great questions. I really enjoyed you, discussing the incompetence, of the DNR and how they misappropriate funds. I live in Kansas, and wildlife, and Parks is absolutely destroying our wildlife populations. All they want to do is receive more money so they can blow it on stupid shit. And I absolutely loved your comments and bringing to light the weaknesses of the crappy model 700 chambered in the 416 Remington magnum. A great rifle when chambered for a 308 but It’s hard to believe that such an awesome cartridge was born and paired with such an inferior rifle. It makes you wonder what would’ve happened if Winchester hadn’t chambered the model 70 for it? It’s almost like those two were made for each other.

      I really hate to hear that about Kansas. What part of the state are you in? I love it out there, I used to go every year for pheasant and turkeys. I heard they now made nonresident turkey hunting draw only. We used to be able to just show up and buy tags and hunt. That was 10 years ago and back and the turkey population was unbelievable at that time in north central KS.

    • @forward1165
      @forward1165 8 днів тому +1

      Northcentral. About 100 miles north west of Salina. Yeah, the hunting is really sad. Deer numbers seem to drop every year. They dropped the fall turkey season because the numbers have decreased so much. And in this part of the state we have not had a decent pheasant year since the late 90s. And fish and game is doing nothing about it.

    • @NCWoodlandRoamer
      @NCWoodlandRoamer 8 днів тому +1

      @@forward1165 Oh wow, I used to go to Downs. Sounds like you might be close to that area? I started going in 2003 and the pheasant hunting seemed decent then but I had nothing to compare it to of course. The spring turkey hunting was phenomenal from about 2007 up to 2013 then after that I have only been back one time. I really miss coming out there and hate to hear about the decline in wildlife.

    • @forward1165

We hand load and have most bullets are available to us through a old friend who has been reloading almost 70 years and has more powders primers brass then a Cabelas store but has never hunted with the big bores for elk. Any recommendations would be applicated! Thanks again for all your hard work on your videos! Figured out, made/filed/Silver soldered cartridge shoulder rails to the inside of magazine. Problem solved. Back in the 1980's. Many a modern magazine today has stamped shoulder rails/guides

    22 Creedmore ?? What about the 22-250 and the 220 Swift. Hilarious talking pressure when they were built in 220 Swift(If i'm not Wrong, it was the fastest comercial cartridge ever). Might be concerned if I would use an old action for a 277 Fury 70K-PSI

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 9 днів тому

      I think the point of the Creedmoor is to operate the heavy bullets up to 90gr and give a twist rate to run them, not necessarily to be the speed king. According to a source:
      _When compared to other similar calibers, the benefit to the hunter is quantifiable - the 22 Creedmoor is unlike any other 22 caliber rifle. Unlike the 22-250 AI, the 22 Creedmoor does not require fire-forming brass. Unlike the long-action 22 TTHA and 25.06, the 22 Creedmoor is built on a short action resulting in a shorter bolt throw, faster follow up shots, and offers a powder capacity advantage. Unlike the 220 Swift, the 22 Creedmoor has almost 1,000 ft-lbs of delivered energy at 500 yards with 5-10 inches less wind drift. Unlike larger caliber rifles often used for hunting mid-sized game, the recoil on the 22 Creedmoor is insignificant making it versatile and fun to shoot for youth, women and older hunters alike while maintaining enough delivered energy at distance to ethically harvest an animal._
