Yeah having not watched all of that till recently when i seen that segment i was laughing going you fools youve done it now youve overplayed your hand are now going to learn your folly 😂@ztutt19
The release of Curtain Call in patch 2.0 is worth a mention too. This is the patch that introduced a levelling system, reworked shards and the entire prenium currency that is Auric Cells, along with a cosmetic store to keep bringing in revenue for the game.
Honestly, I always thought silent Hill was one of the most important chapters ever announced. We've been asking for a full/proper horror game licenced chapter for years. With silent Hill being one of the most requested before FNAF requests took off. When we finally got a silent hill chapter, we saw waves a players joining in, with numbers comparable to the stranger things release. If Halloween was the first horror movie license that gave DBD it's starting point, silent Hill was the first horror game license that helped placed DBD on the map.
The SH chapter was when I started playing and I’ve always been a huge SH fan-boutta prestige 100 James Sunderland as my main-, plus that was during COVID so it was a great time to immerse yourself into a new game
Number 11: Dredge being the first time an original chapter was used for the anniversary. Him being the first full monster killer with unique cosmetic segmentation. the start of the new anniversary events with the twisted masquerade. him being the start for weapons having custom animations
I would like to throw the Nicolas Cage chapter out there as an HM, Nic arrived in the fog during a time where people were fed up and pissed at recent chapters. Nic brought a lot of people back with his perks, his gameplay and his voice lines
"Made For This" was a game changer. It shifted meta on release (having about 48% of players use this perk each match). It was, and still is, two perks in one. Some people over look the 3% and don't think it was much but DBD is a game where mere milliseconds can make a difference. Just to throw in an example, the loop in main building on "Dead Dawg Saloon" became an infinite; as well as many other loops across all the maps. One last thing to note, the 3% accommodated to about a 4.12 m/s run speed compared to the regular 4.00 m/s (110% killers are 4.20 m/s)
The demogorgon is aldo important because it broke a rule that was previously set, which was "no monsters". Thanks to the Demogorgon we got killers such as the Unkown, the xenomorph, and a lot more interesting killers!
I'd also say Demise Of The Faithful was very important as it completely changed the lore of the game and how it's treated, before it we got quite basic characters, but with Jane and Plague we started getting more complex stories, and with them a bit after the tomes followed up on that
Matthew Cote getting bullied on stream was so brutal but definitely necessary, before that, the devs absolutely refused to do anything that would help killer, it makes me wish all games had some kind of experience where the devs have to see what the worst parts of their games are like
I’m surprised Mikaela isn’t on here. circle of healing was so strong for so long, and it definitely changed the way most players and the devs looked at healing (especially self heals)
I’m so glad dbd got a lore update with the tomes, i always find games much more fun to play when there’s a story to uncover! And im so happy that my main, artist, is finally getting some attention in the tomes so i can read even more about her!
Release of Artist when anti loop killers stars to appear. Release of Boon perks. Release of Knight. (How in the world this kind of killer design make it to game)
I wish we got a 6.1.0 perk overhaul more often. They did nerf gen kicking perks that were over buffed back then but for survivors, dead hard aside, it's been the same. Made for This happened but it didn't last long and that's pretty much it. DS is kinda back? But exhaustion are still a big need, UB, Adrenaline, Self-Care, WoW remain extremely popular.
I think it was also very important when they added the shop, before that day, most survivors and killers looked the same and today we have things like legendary skins which change the whole character, like naughty bear
I think when killers were able to vault/when blood lust was introduced should be on this list, im not sure if the game was out or in beta when this happened though. I also think when the silent hill chapter was announced it was a big deal as well, finally bringing horror game licenses in the picture. Also activation based easter eggs in maps came in with this chapter too(if you don't count the golden toolbox ofc) The endgame collapse was also a game changer. Matches didn't last hours upon hours. Same with the hatch changes, being able to close the hatch was absolutely helpful to not make matches last 15 hours.
Got a flashback where I was a rank 20 huntress (or whatever was the lowest rank in ye Olde days) a d was put in a lobby where all the survivors were 6 or better. Got swamped, didn't even injured one.

The UE 5 upgrade is going to potentially bring soooo many awesome things. Work for a studio that's just down the street from Behavior and we've done a couple UE 5 upgrades ourselves, they are never bug free, but the benefits that will come down the road are going to be awesome. Who knows, maybe we'll even see a return of the Bouquets as UE5 has vastly improved/optimized lighting and shadow systems, granted the existence of indoor maps would make those less likely to return as well I suppose since they would have to have some effect within those maps too.
Honorable mention to 7th February 2024 - release of the Lights Out Mod. Obviously it was a bit of a bust but with the Chaos Shuffle being such a hit we could see these mods returning more often :D

And don't forget Chucky, The first killer in 3rd person camera view, also the only real killer we got of all time , because you know all killers are stretched and messed up in case to be playable as first person and they look goofy in shadows 🤣
Hey Azhy! I Was Wondering If You Could Do A Video Smilar To Another Video You Made Which Was Who Would Win If Every Killer Fought, But For Survivors Instead. I Think That Would Be A Banger.
I think one big moment on the more recent side is the release of the Lich. With the dungeons and dragons chapter being released, it has made way for a whole new can of worms to be opened. Not only is this killer in a whole different category for killer (non-movie/tv, non-video game related) licenses with killers, but have also expanded the game beyond just full on horror only. While Vecna is supposed to be considered ‘scary’ he is nothing like the horror style characters we have seen before. I believe this allows for more chapters with a similar non-horror style, and we have already seen it with castlevania
It's inept how long it took them 5+ years to fix metas that were torture to play, but I feel like the game is on the verge of being in a really good place. I think if they moved to a global hook system instead of a per-survivor hook stage system tunneling rates would go down in a big way. I've had it since launch and let me tell you it was really really bad lol. They've come a long way
