With this medieval touch Z: BP is the first zombie game in a while that looks interesting to me. Plus the fix with shooting, of course (loved how you hated on it before :D ).

How many scenarios/quests are in the main box?
17:32 you can get the dwarf to red and give him +1 damage in melee combat. that's the only other way to kill an abomination in the core set
Now that all these other zombie games have come out, which would you guys suggest? I don't have any, and I'm torn between Black Plague, Invader, and Zomicide 2nd edition.

Is this a good starting point for a newcomer inte zombicide saga-World?
hey folks! for some1 new to zombicide, would everyone suggest starting with S1? or should I jump to a different one instead? or would you recommend me jumping straight into Black Plague when it comes to retail?

Sam is there anyway that you can stop editing your videos? You seem to stop it short when you are about to rant but Im actually interested in some of those. If your videos end up 5-10 minutes longer than everyone elses then so what it makes your videos stand out more. But as always keep up the great work and thanks!

Mine just arrived today. Love the way they packaged it and also like the Season's greetings note that came with it for the backers. Nice touch. Though need to get to work painting those heroes. Just don't like that brown color they come in. lol
Target priority makes a great difference, and the armor and shields do increase your chance of survival. There's also the inclusion of cellars where the zombies can't go, and you can go below ground to a different location on the board. Of course the basics is still Zombicide, but I'm looking forward to this game, and may spark my itchy fingers to slap some paint on those miniatures.
Zombies can go to the vaults. The rulebook specifically says that they can follow you to them.
+Sam Healey Yup, they don't spawn there but once you open the trap door they can follow you down.
What is the best method to straighten the somewhat bend plastic swords - heat gun ?
+Peter Nielsen The ones in my copy aren't bad at all...hardly noticeable. But you can just use a hair dryer...but not too long, though...and then hold it the way you want until it cools.

+Peter Nielsen Not the same kind of plastic as Reaper Bones, but I suspect their method would work. You simply drop the piece in boiling water for a minute, fetch it out safely however you want, shake off the drops, pick it up in your hands, straighten the piece and hold it where you want it, then dunk it in ice water. It worked for my Reaper Bones.
I love the sound effects at 16:41.

Was the double spawn done correctly when he opened the door?
The rules are a little vague, it explains what you do with multiple spawn zones but doesn't clear up what to do when there's only 1 spawn zone (such as in the very first game). Similarly what if you were just spawning a single room?
Sam hit the same issue and I guess house ruled it.
+TabithaBear Gaming he's doing wrong. If there is just one spawn zone and you draw a second double spawn you spawn 4 times at the one spawn zone. It is explained in the rulebook by text and by a grafik on the top right corner on page 27.
I think the Dice Tower should use Sam's sound effects to censor some of Jason's comments. :)
Sam you haven't realised Samson's red skill is +1 damage melee so red samson with a damage 2 weapon can melee kill an abomination, but I have played 10+ games already and only once has a hero made red level :(
+Brent Seymour It isn't that I haven't realized it, my point was that there are no "weapons" in the core game, other than the Dragon Fire combo, that could kill an abomination. And getting someone to the red level (in the core game, at least) would almost have to be a concerted effort, I think.
But you literally said it was the only way to kill one. But I'm not here to quibble I just thought it could have been overlooked that Samson is probably the most badass Hero in the core set. None of those weakling humans can kill an abomination in close combat.
does wulfsburg fix his issue with the abominations?

Can you exchange items with 2 people for 1 action? Give 1 weapon to someone and take something from someone else?
One action to give an item to another player.
If the player giving you something is not the one you just gave something to, they'll have to pay an action.
If you are swapping items with the SAME player, it's only one action.
no dude, don't be cheap. an action for each trade. both of the trading players get to re-arrange inventory.
used to be that you can't range attack zombies who are in the same zone as your survivor, they remove that rule and replace with "miss shot hits survivor a hit range attack still hits zombies"...
ex: if you roll 2 dice with your crossbow and you miss both then your survivor in the targeted zone excluding the survivor who is firing the crossbow is dead!
don't be cheap, don't try to bully zombies, no re-rolls (unless you have plenty cards), no undo previous move, no "one reload action to reload ALL different types of weapons such as orcish crossbow and hand crossbow equipped in your hands", no "stealing your friends' copies of baldric and have 6 baldrics going insane on the board with free enchantment moves", no "casting your enchantment to survivors that are not in your line of sight because the card doesn't say targets in your line of sight", NO!. try to solve the puzzle they laid out for you. try to control the middle building with doors to give you flexibility if you are having trouble beating a level.
these are some of the common rule tweaking that i have come across playing with my friends. but seriously tho...6 baldric passing around 2 enchantment cards and doing their free enchantment moves is really gay for the zombies....

I'm not sold yet. The few rule changes could be easily house ruled in the base game. Theme is more interesting, but isn't the game still just search, search, search, roll dice and hope you get lucky?
Well yes, at the end of the day it's still Zombiecide and if you didn't like the feel of the earlier games I doubt this will change your mind any.
Having only played a few games last night this one seems easier as the abundance of weapons, armour, healing spells and an extra wound increases your survivability a lot.
+TabithaBear Gaming Yeah, but that's what I'm a bit surprised by with Sam's review because he DOES say that he didn't dig original Zombicide, but he says the only reason this one grabbed him is because of the setting. Setting helps me get into a game originally but I can't believe that it would make me like a game that felt boring to me to begin with. I wish I had a chance to try it before the Kickstarter.

Re: Killing Abom - Same as in original game. Needed to make a molotov to kill an Abom. Seems to me this is just regular Zombicide with a Medieval coat of paint. Original Zombicide suffered from severe bloat as they came out with annual big box expansions.

Can this game support more than 6 heroes? Our gaming group is 7 people and we don't want anybody to sit out if we get it.
so the greatsword is 5 dice but max of 1 damage not 1 damage per hit rolled?
Yes...it gives you a greater chance to hit.
It also means you could take out 5 zombies in one swing, provided they all take only 1 hit to kill.

re: targeting rules -- this change was made officially in ZBP's rules, so Sam hasn't missed much.
Just something I was trying on this one to squeeze a bit more into it. Probably won't do it again...I tried to keep it sounding as natural as I could. But yeah, I sound like I just ate a couple espresso beans, yeah?
+Adam Dork There's more changes than just the mat. Players now have 3 health + armor which can negate damage if you roll a certain number. The necromancer is a new enemy type that spawns on the board and creates new challenges. There are less ranged weapons and the game is more melee focused. I also think you can have more than 1 abomination on the board at the same time, at least with the abomination pack which has 3 unique abominations with different skills. Also there are enchantments you can cast to buff your characters. There's also vaults that has a powerful treasure and also acts as a shortcut between two points on the map.

Sampson with plate armour is awesome. Plate armour is a 3+ save but Sampson get to make that a 2+ save! Great for tar pitting zombies or saving other heroes who run out of moves.
Another correction- Characters cannot open doors without a weapon that can open doors such as: swords, daggers, hammers and other melee weapons. However bows, crossbows and spells cannot open doors.
Two UX issues with this game that I've found...
1. The front of the Spawn cards should be themed in yellow like the backs to avoid confusion with the gear cards when the two discard piles are showing.
2. The slot for the secondary item on the plastic character trays is slightly too big. The secondary item card is able to slide out on top of the character card which is really annoying. There's really no reason it needs to be that big.
Otherwise, fantastic game. Love it.
With so much great content for the original Zombicide I find it hard to justify buying a new version for a different theme setting and the Zombicide edition of the "free parking" rule printed in the rulebook.
+penguinclaptrap I had the exact opposite problem. I didn't get in on the ground floor of the original Zombicide, so there's a ton of pricey content that there's no way in hell I'm ebaying for. The complete shift in chronology here means I was able to back it and not feel like I was still missing stuff. Sure, there's like a dozen character boxes I didn't order, but those actually WILL be available at retail.
I'm really disapponted by the fact that, even if you play with less than 6 players, you have to control 6 survivors in every scenario. This makes the game, even if it states 1-6 ppl, not enjoyable in solo or two players :(

I like the clear cut between the rules explanation and the sample play through. That way I know I can stop watching after the rules explanation, in case I already realize hat the game is not for me.
There are a TON of Zombicide expansions and varieties out there. Is it safe to just buy this one and ignore the rest? Should I buy the ORIGINAL Zombicide first? Help me Obi-Sam, you are my only hope ;)
You do not need any of the earlier Zombiecides to play this game. It is a stand alone game) and in act changes a few of the rules).

I always thought the, shooting the survivor first, was meant to represent you taking out the survivor so he doesnt have to be eaten alive
Similarly if you find me a bit hungry I would ask that you offer me food rather than immediately killing me so I don't starve to death. 😀

18:31 what do you mean you have never seen games like this before. any RPG board game with zombies in it would be considered similar to this game. though i kindda love this game because of its simple, easy to setup mechanics.
i mean a lot of rpg games are soooo complicated whenever you attack something, you have to check so many different things, and when your friend attacks you also have to check many different things...takes forever to finish a turn....omg...let a computer handle that stuff and play an rpg video game instead of a board game. right?
any fantasy rpg games you probably see zombies as an undead type enemies that are weak against spells like "light" "divine" or whatever.
medieval fantasy board game is new? no! almost all fantasy board games are medieval!
the first zombicide wasn't new to zombie apocalypse type of board games either! but it is definitely an improved version. many people complained about the cars and friendly fire. that was it.

You can't open doors with a bow od crossbow.
in the base game, vampiric cross bow has 3 damage. it should be able to kill an abomination.
really? vampiric crossbow isn't in the base game is it??? are you sure??? i thought it is in wolfsburg since wolfsburg got some speedy zombies.
in the base game, there are only 3 ways that i have come up with to deal with the abomination.
1) dragonfire
2) repulse/lifesave
3) pay 2 movement actions to move away from it
