- Super rare footage of Chief Stephen Osita Osadebe and his Nigerian Sound Makers performing the now-classic "Osondi Owendi" on Osadebe's early-1980s television programme.
This drummer is beating the drum as if there was no tomorrow. Men lived really.
Ezeafulukwe Atani you made igbo proud.
Aka na asa nkwa1 na Atani,,, you were the best here and you will remain the best even in the spirit world as long as igbo highlife music is concerned. Rest on Papa Stephen Osita Osadebe.
I was share tears when ever I listing to this man songs 🎵. It's take my heart way back from the late 70s to the early 80s. Oh God will those days ever come back again, hmmmmmmm
The TEXTURE of his VOICE was so SOOTHING. This is TIMELESS MUSIC
There can never be another copy of this 🎸 display, they are trying to get there but but has never been close to this.Respect!!
Osadebe's rythmn guitarist was just awesome, this man produced magic, good to finally see his face, I wonder where he is today..Why can't we have a program such as VH1, " where are they now".. Rip Osili Nwa mama, Osa Nkwa, Ezeafulukwe..We shall never forget you Nna ochie.
He is dead that is why.. men don’t live forever

Wow!!! My first time seeing this icon performing on a live stage and very young too.
I only saw him as an old man in his VHS. These players are talented. What a talent. This may be mid 70s I guess or early 80s.
There can never be 2 Osadebe.
Yes. It's definitely after 1975. Between 1975 and 1980. Very original.

This show was organise by NTA in early 80s, then every Friday HIGH life mestro are been invited to play for an hour also. MUSICIANS like Late Eddy okota, late Adeolu Akinsanya alisa baba Eto, Victor olaiya, and many not mention. But today many of them are now stories, because they are gone, but there music stil lspeak after them. HIGH life is the original music of Africa originated from GHANA.
Osadebe had his own show, very popular in the East back in the 80s..
I remember a show where Zeal Onyia was featured, he talked on how Louis Armstrong invited him backstage when he visited Nigeria. He played his Trumpet at the Airport and caught Armstrong's attention so he sent for him.
Thank you for sharing that information.

Please what's the meaning/ translation of Osondi Owendi? Thanks
In a nutshell, he was singing that “one man’s meat is another man’s poison.”
What makes one happy can make another person sad.
Live and let live.

@@oronbaba Thanks! I went to see Osadebe in North London in '95 but there was a huge sign on the door. He'd missed his flight from Nigeria!! I never did get to see him. Want to see Obey but keep missing his UK trips...
