VOCAL TALKTHROUGH: Karen Clark-Sheard - He'll Bring You Out

  • Karen Clark Sheard's performance of He'll Bring You Out is one of my FAVOURITE performances to this day! I wanted to supplement you all with a little bit of gospel music to fit into your catalogs and show you the makings a little bit of gospel runs with vocal distortion! And I actually dropped TWO Vocal Talkthroughs today! The other is on Marcelito Pomoy! Karen also sang for Aretha Franklin's funeral with her family group, The Clark Sisters.

    She may not be in her prime age wise, but the vocal prime is between 40-60 because you voice has settled. Karen and her family will have great vocal upkeep for years to come. Her mom was still singing with full range up until her untimely demise.

    When she sings in the key of Bb, that Bb5 will always be her go to High note if not even some higher notes! But most importantly, you can hear her not only performing but ministering each lyric, note and rhythm coming from a place that allows her to use her voice to the MAX!

    I love the way you break down this amazing womans voice. A lot of people can't do this. Especially without comparing her to others voices. Many can't even hear the extras within her techniques. She can't be compared due to the way she actually naturally (not technically) plays with her craft! Many singers that gets compared to her technically incorporate these extras. She actually does them naturally! (Of course she is semi-technical due to her mom and Twinkies training (both educated in the arts). You are amazing man! Im a subscriber now!

    Great breakdown! One word, The Anointing along with musical, technical ability, is true artistry. Have you heard Karen and Dorinda sing , "He'll bring you out" during "A song is born"? We recorded it in 1994, in Deteoit, MI.Karen's melismatic technique was amazing!
    Their (The Clark Sisters) musical abilities stem from both their upbringing in the COGIC, but also their Classical training from their mother, Dr. Mattie Moss Clark. Which I'm sure you already know.
    I love your breakdowns, and love your sincere reactions and excitement from your reviews.
    Keep up the excellence!❤

Twinkie is #UNDERRATED & NOT given the Due Credit (in part), for Karen's success. Just my opinion. LOVE'EM BOTH 😘

    • @gabriellecraig1770
      @gabriellecraig1770 5 років тому +4

      @@msvm2108 I think the issue here is, although Twink and Mattie helped pioneer and pave the way for Karen, she took the baton and ran with it. In addition to that, she added her touch to it, keeps getting better and has longevity to boot. I'm not here to debate who was best in their prime because, real talk, I am kind of surprised when I go back and listen to Twink from the 70s and 80s. Beast for sure. But I also think that it's no more necessary to interject and interrupt those that are celebrating Karen, than it is to interrupt anyone who wishes to celebrate Twinkie with "But she was influenced by Stevie Wonder!" Everyone was influenced by someone else. It does not take away from their greatness. Karen can be celebrated independently of her sisters. It's ok.

    I believe she also plays instruments. I find that many singers who play instruments have another sense of music that singers who only sing don't have. Aretha, Rachelle Ferrell, Kim Burrell, and Oleta Adams have it (piano). Chaka has it (drums). Dorinda has it (organ). This is not to say that those who don't play aren't musical, but I find the ones that do play have a bit more information musically speaking.
