I listen to Sam Sanders on his podcast, had no idea how much he's communicating with his face. So expressive, feel like I've been missing out.

I just don’t feel right listening to happy music rn. I can’t relate anymore. This album has been helping me process so much stuff this year. I’ve finally realized how important it is to actually process my emotions. I was close to being one of those toxic positivity ppl and now I feel more grounded and strong in my emotions. Idk if that makes sense or if anyone else can relate.

"I miss the comfort in being Sad"- Kurt Cobain. This lyric sums up the way we enjoy and consume sad music. It's strangely comforting.

I know this may not be exactly the same, but this reminds me of a line from a Bright Eyes song ("Poison Oak") that has always stuck with me:
The end of paralysis, I was a statuette
Now I'm drunk as hell on a piano bench
And when I press the keys it all gets reversed
The sound of loneliness makes me happier

this is one of the best interviews of any musician i’ve ever seen! the interviewer has clearly spent so much time listening to and connecting with her music and he asked so many great in-depth questions about her songwriting. shoutout to phoebe as well for being so open and engaging. it was like watching a 3 am conversation between friends.

This interview was great and they seemed like old friends even tho it appears this may have been their first time talking!
Also phoebe talking voice sounds intimidating like someone you’d have to win their affection, yet she seems like such a lovely, open, and warm person

This is such a great interview. I was already in rapture with Phoebe Bridgers, but now I'm a convert to Sam Sanders as well. What wonderful, respectful, rich rapport they had with one another. I love the part about specificity and her joke about the nutrition info on the fig newton package!!! That cracked me up. And the way Sam got to that with his questions was priceless.
Also, on a separate note..... Phoebe Bridgers' music connects so well with Tears for Fears music. Totally different eras, but it is really an uncanny connection.
