    Hi, Amy - so good to see you, your beautiful orchids AND your precious Jasmine! The manager at Kroger knew what he was doing when he gave you Sogo Vivian! She’s so pretty! Sadly my orchid collection has suffered. We moved into a new home, and it seems my orchids are having a hard time adjusting. No spikes, but thankfully I am seeing new leaf growth, and that really makes me happy! There is hope, I do love the leaves! Two different and dear friends gave us orchids as a housewarming gift (in bloom) so I have those! ❤️ Thanks for the tour.
    Keep well, Mary Ann 7:57

      Hi Mary Ann! Congratulations on your new home! Your orchids will acclimate. If they're growing new leaves, that's a good sign! Always great hearing from you...have a wonderful and blessed week, my friend! 😇🐕✝️🌸🙏

    Beautiful blooms!!! My only two phals that have flowers and spikes are directly under grow lights! That definitely seems to be the main requirement for the phals. My mini dendrobium and oncidium Sharry Baby are happy to bloom in our bathroom by the south facing window.
    It looks like we're in for some more cold nights. I'm So ready for spring! 🙋‍♀️🌷🐛🦋

    Hi Amy. Great video on the Phalaenopsis. I guess they need more light than we thought. My summer blooming Phalaenopsis I grow on heat mats because they like it hot. 🥵 I have been sad because we had to have our sweet Bentley put down. For 2 years he battled with stones in his bladder. He had several surgeries but they just kept coming back. He started bleeding pretty bad and the vet said there is nothing else they could do. My Bella is 15 months old and doing well. It’s finally a nice sunny day here in southern Ohio. Have a great week and God bless. 🙏🏻🥰👏❤️

      Hi Shirley, I'm so sorry to hear about Bentley. My sister lost her first schnauzer to bladder stones, so I understand. I'm so glad you have little Bella. I know our house was so still...too still...after my Buddy passed, and Jasmine brought the house back to life. As schnauzer pups do. You're in my prayers, and I hope there are many sunny days in store for you. Many blessings to you, sweet friend. 💜⚘️✝️🙏

    I saw on the thermometer that the highest temperature at one was 99F. 😁
    I just have my phals and two paphs on a western facing window sill and the highest temperature there is like 62F here in Connecticut...😒 The flower spikes grow like snails so maybe it's time to try a cool growing orchid like a Masadevalia.

    • @OrchidWhisperer
      @OrchidWhisperer  7 місяців тому +1

      Hi Joe, I don't think the thermometer has hit 99F in my sunroom ever...I never noticed that reading! Time to reboot it.
      Your spikes will grow faster at 70F if you have a warmer room to grow them. They grow incredibly slow at 62. Have a great day!

    Interesting video, Amy.
    So I bought two LED small round lights. One placed on my four Tolumnia, and one place above my phals. I haven’t had blooms or spikes in over a year. Well, one phal now has a spike. Praise God!!!! I’m so excited. So I’m thinking of another light over my CC and TC. Although I’m a bit concerned about those two 100 year old CC that it might be too much for them. So perhaps I’ll wait on that. They are very healthy and growing well just with window light. Anyway I had to tell you about my spike. “Let there be light!!!!”

    • @OrchidWhisperer
      @OrchidWhisperer  7 місяців тому

      That's so exciting, Lenore! Great comment, by the way, "Let there be light"! Light makes all the difference! I think you're right about the 100 year old CC...if they're healthy and blooming, they're fine. The only reason I have the LED lights on Big Red is because it's rather dark in the corner of the sunroom where he lives. Happy growing, my friend...I'm so happy for you!

    Great video dear! Yes push that out there! Phals need light! Too many times they get shoved in a dark corner! 😢 but you watch the ones on your bottom shelf explode with blooms when you add LED lights. I like those pink Barhina lights from Amazon. They attach so easy to those shelves. The pink isn't noticeable either. Not like the purple. Let us know what you do. 😊 aww give Jazzy a kiss from Aunt Paula! 💋 she is such a cutie!

    • @OrchidWhisperer
      @OrchidWhisperer  7 місяців тому +1

      Hi Paula! I kinda figured I would be adding more light, and this was proof I needed it! I bought some more halo lights from Amazon...they reduced the prices of the ones I like, I guess because it's winter. 😁 I like the halos because I can move them around so easily. Thanks for the info on the Barhina lights...good to know! Jazzy sends her love to Aunt Paula! 🐕😇🌸⚘️

    Thanks for the Phal visit, they look beautiful. Sorry if this is off topic but how did things work out with your Easter Cactus? I know they can be temperamental. Your experience with it whether good or bad would be very informative. Always nice to see your lovely sunroom and Jasmine.

      I'm glad you mentioned the Easter cactus...I'll be doing a video on it later this week. It will be a forum video, so that everyone can share what they do with their Easter cactus starting Feb 14, when the dry season is over. Mine has done really well, I've had to tie my hands back from watering it too much! lol!

    Hi Amy! I've watched your videos for years but never grew orchids. I am rescuing a friend's Phal with root rot. Only one viable root but in soaking it in black tea a couple times a week I have 2 bud nubs coming through so I am encouraged. I'm growing it in water culture. Right now it's on a heat mat and in an east/north exposure. When it recovers what direction should I place it in? I have them all! Your Phals are gorgeous! And I'm seeing signs of an early Spring in my 80+ plant collection. They tell me if we'll have an early Spring...no groundhog needed! Blessings on your day!

    • @OrchidWhisperer
      @OrchidWhisperer  7 місяців тому +1

      Hi Molly! I'm so glad to hear you're rehabilitating an orchid! I'm sure it will do well under your care. Phals do best in an eastern facing window. Just check the leaves to make sure the leaves don't get too warm as we go into Spring. If you have a blind or sheer curtain on the window, you're set. Always good to hear from you... hope you have a wonderful week! 😇🐕🌸⚘️

    I have a question if you have ID for the phal you share in the opening and closing of the video. With white little blooms look like a equestris hybrid. I have the same phal with no ID. İf you have ID please share so I can ID mine 😊

    When a plant has so many roots do you trim them or put in a bigger pot ? Love your plants

    • @OrchidWhisperer
      @OrchidWhisperer  7 місяців тому

      Hi Barbara! I don't ever trim healthy roots...I just let them grow! As long as you have plenty of roots in the pot and unless your orchid just needs repotting, it's fine to let the air roots grow where they want. I repot mine, and they immediately start growing new air roots that go everywhere. Happy growing! :)

      Lovely video, beautiful Phals, how do you water the aerial roots without getting water throughout the leaves, misting? Dip and dry, please share,

    • @OrchidWhisperer
      @OrchidWhisperer  7 місяців тому +1

      @@anitabrown2022 the easiest way to keep roots outside the pot hydrated is to place a damp paper towel on them or around them...whichever works. 😇
