Hi Melissa. Love your videos. Can you do a video on face masks? For example, that you can use in the long run to keep your skin looking fresh and brighter. I currently use Vital C enzyme mask by Image skincare. Can you make a video on similar suggestions. and how to use them
Hey! :)
I do not really use face masks, except for The Ordinary Peeling Solution, although not very often because I test so many products 😅

Hello Melissa! I’ve been watching your videos for a while and they have been life saving. I have dark circles and wrinkles under my eyes. Any suggestions on the products that I can use?
What has caused your dark circles in the first place? Is it genetics, hollowness, a food allergy, or dehydration?
As for your wrinkles, consider looking into a Retinol eye cream like La Roche-Posay or Beauty of Joseon Eye Creams.
Hello Melissa. I am considering buying laroche posay cicaplast Baume B5, and was wondering if I should use it, or vaseline (petrolium jelly original) as an occlusive. I have dry skin and would like an occlusive to add to my night time routine to make sure my products stay intact in my face. Love your videos. Thank you
There's some misinformation in that. It's not as if these ingredients simply disappear; your skin absorbs them and then they get to work. Using an occlusive product makes sense only if you want to seal in the hydration, or for example, an oil. However, I wouldn't recommend Vaseline it just seals the dehydration; I think it's not ideal. If you have really dry skin, it's better to use a nice blend of ingredients like a good cream or lotion. Something like the CeraVe cream or lotion could work. Alternatively, the Baum B5 is also a good option.
Thanks for this amazing video!I just have one question, for oily skin,is it good to use AHA BHA toner and advanced snail 96 every day or night?or do you recommend another toner for daily use? ☺
I would use the AHA BHA Toner only in the PM - if you can use it daily depends on your skin tolerance :)
Hi, l have been following your channel for some while now and l was wondering which one you would recommend for Acne, the CeraVe Foaming Cleanser or the Cetaphil Pro Acne Prone Skin Foam wash?
You could try this method, along with the one I shared here: ua-cam.com/users/shortsqGNXAEackX8.
So, basically, use a benzoyl peroxide cleanser with 4-5%.
Hi Melissa! Thank you for your videos, it really helped me as a person who just started her skin care journey🫶
May I ask something? Now I am confused about my skin care steps between this 3 products
1. AXIS-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum
2. COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
3. COSRX Propolis Light Ampoule
What would you think are the correct order from first to last before continuing with moisturizer?
Hey! 😊
Here's your skincare routine:
Essence
Propolis Serum
Glow Serum
Follow with your moisturizer if still needed.

Hello, this is my current skin care routine:
AM
- Cetaphil Cleanser
- Cosrx Centella Alcohol-Free Toner
- Goodal Green Tangerine Vit C Serum
- Cosrx Oil-Free Moisturizing Lotion
- Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sun Cream
PM
- Cetaphil Cleanser
- Cosrx Centella Alcohol-Free Toner
- The Ordinary Glycolic Acid (2x per week)
- The Ordinary Niacinamide Serum
- Klairs Freshly Juiced Vit E Mask
I plan on adding Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid for my blackheads and this Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence, but I’m quite hesitant if I should go with it bc they seem too much. I have a combination skin type, with few red and dark spots. I think some pores are starting to open on my cheeks too. What do you think? Would you recommend I use these products? And how do I order them in my daily routine?
Honestly, if you just want to remove the blackheads, take an appointment with an esthetician. She can extract them for you; that is the quickest way. If they are really blackheads, you will likely not get rid of them with topical products.
But you could use the BHA liquid like this:
PM:
Cetaphil Cleanser (make sure to have the right one for your needs, Gentle skin cleanser for dry combination skin, daily facial cleanser for oily combination skin)
Cosrx Centella Alcohol-Free Toner
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid (2x per week) or Cosrx BHA Blackhead Power Liquid (basically, you could alternate, but if you have oily combination skin, the BHA would be the better option)
The Ordinary Niacinamide Serum
Hi Melissa! Do you have any tips on using the CosRx 6 Peptide Booster? Would you use it daily PM or AM and before or after snail mucin? And should I avoid using it with vitamin C, adapelene or PC’s BHA? Thank you!
I haven't tried that one; however, avoid using it with Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) and Exfoliating Acid-based products. So, use it when you're not using any of these treatments. The Peptide product itself can be used in the AM as well as PM, daily. If the texture is thinner than the one from the Snail Essence, use it first. However, I would use it instead of the Essence. For example, use the Peptide product in the AM and the Snail Essence in the PM, or vice versa.
Mellisa im thinking about ordering Korean skincare from yestsyle how long do they take for delivery cz u said it takes a month but for me it says express deliver in 1 week
Well, I am based in Luxembourg, and sometimes in Vienna, Austria. Packages usually take about 3-4 weeks to reach me, so I believe the delivery time largely depends on your location.

Hi Melissa, I use an exfoliating toner every 2-3 days. Am I fine with a cleanser + the snail essence in the evening or should I add an moisturizer if my skin is dry?
Well, if the skin is really dry, which is rarely the case, you can then add a lotion or cream. But honestly, the best thing you can do is try the snail essence on its own. See how it goes before buying anything else.
Hi Melissa
Great and very informative videos
It’s mentioned on the product(Cosrx niacinamide 15%) that : use day time only
Can we still use in Pm routine

Hi Melissa ❤
I have a question ❓ can you please tell me can we use retinol and ordinary matrixyl and same routine?
Yes you can! :)
I have the ordinary exfoliating serum... should i apply it before the snail mucin essence?
Before :)
Hello Melissa,
Can it be used after applying ordinary hyaluronic acid and naicinamide serum?
I think its too much, but yes it can :)
So a serum always comes after the essence? i always used the vitamin C after the toner, then niacinamide and then the snail mucin essence and a moisturizer afterward.
It depends on the formulation of your serums. If your serums are water-based and lightweight, you could use the essence after them as well. However, to ensure consistent effectiveness and avoid any confusion, it's recommended to use the essence after the toner and then proceed with the rest of your routine.
If I am using the argireline solution and matrixyl, would this go on before or after ?
Technically, you can use them in either order, as some people like to use the COSRX Snail Essence as their 'moisturizer' :)
Plz review simple facewashes.
Once I'm able to get them, I will :)

Use La Roche-Posay Gentle Cleanser. (If you have oily skin, consider switching to one of the options in this video: ua-cam.com/users/shortsqMd1tWxPWLM)
Pat the skin dry.

Can I use this essence as a moisturizer? So should I use it as a moistruizer? Can this be used instead of moisturizer at night and in the morning? My mixed charm is 15 years old

Hi, Melissa!❤ I have a question. Should i apply niacinamide around the eye area? And after I wash my face with cleanser, is it a problem if I don't dry it and just apply niacinamide?
Yes, do not apply the products to wet skin, as this can cause irritation. The pH may get influenced, and the formulation can become diluted, leading to improper absorption. Also, do not use it on the eyelids because it can irritate the eyes.
Clean face
Pat dry
Apply niacinamide serum

hi , what can i use for acne marks ? i have acne marks and tiny pimples on my cheeks. just the cheek part. could you recommend any product that i could use ?
currently im using just cetaphil oil cleanser - sebamed moisturizer Dr Rashel serum and sunscreen on my face
Well, they will fade over time, so there's no need to do anything except protect them well from sunlight to prevent further darkening. For the pimples, you could use a spot treatment with Salicylic Acid or Benzoyl Peroxide; that works best for me.
Can you make a video about use glutathione tables for skin lightning
I've never used such tablets, nor looked into it. I recommend asking someone who has tried it.

Hi now, I am using ordinary glycolic acid serum now, can I use ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% peeling solution along with it
The Ordinary doesn't have a glycolic acid serum, so are you referring to their toner or perhaps you mean the lactic acid serum? Just to clarify, AHA refers to Alpha Hydroxy Acids like Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid, while BHA stands for Beta Hydroxy Acid, such as Salicylic Acid. Therefore, the serum you're using is essentially the same as the peel, just with a lower strength. If you're considering using both, I have a guide here: ua-cam.com/video/uDkmG9mInAs/v-deo.html
Hey Mellisa! I wanna Ask im paring snail mucin with vitamin c serum . Which goes 1st cz we know snail mucin is like jelly type and vitamin c is like a water type
Are you using Klairs Vitamin C drops? In that case, I would use snail mucin before, as that Vitamin C also has other ingredients that are considered heavier.

Hi again Melissa:
I have been using epiduo for about 3 weeks, and now my skin doesn't break out anymore, but it becomes red when I apply neutrogena hydro boost moisturizer, which I think that it is because of the fragance, as I saw some other reviews on the internet which say that it's not good for combl/oily sensitive skin that is on retinoids.
So I am considering buying either hydreapase legere from LRP or vichy minéral 89. I like a gel or gel-cream texture moisturiser, that is lightweight and doesn't feel like you have ñut something, like the ones I have mentioned.
Do you have any other suggestions? Which one do you think it's better?
Thanks for your help! ❤😊
Hey! :) Does your skin only become red when applying your moisturizer on top, or even before that? Benzoyl Peroxide/Adapalene can make the skin more sensitive + a bit red too.
Also, if you're currently using it daily and your skin has improved a lot, but you still experience a bit of redness, use your Epiduo less often.
Do you really feel the need to use a moisturizer on top of your Epiduo? Have you ever tried just using that one on its own? Still, if you want to add something hydrating to your routine, Vichy's Mineral 89 Hyaluronic Acid Booster is great, or The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial
Yeah, when I put epiduo my skin becomes a little bit red, but when I put the moisturiser it is like a tomato and my skin becomes really red, but after an hour it's normal again . 😄
I use a moisturiser after epiduo cuz if not when I wake up in the morning I have some flakes around my chin and it's a bit dry.
Maybe it is because epiduo has made my skin more sensitive to fragrances, because before starting this treatment my moisturizer didn't make my skin red.
By the way, thanks a lot. I think I'll try Vichy minéral 89 , as it says it doesn't contain any fragrance, it's quite lightweight and hipoalergenic. ❤️🤞🏻👍🏻😄
What if you skip using a hydrating serum/moisturizer in the evening and just use such a product in the morning? This way, your Epiduo can work properly and won't interact with anything else.
If I experience a few flakes/dry skin around my mouth/chin area, I just give my skin a break or, in general, use the treatment less often.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Ok! Thank you so muchhhhhh ❤️🫶🏻
Hi Melissa, i have lots on acne scars on my cheeks, no active acne. currently using retinol 0.5% since last 1-2 yrs but not regularly.
In the morning i wash my face, use nicinamide toner, essence and sunscreen.
In the night facewash, retinol and moisture thats it.
Can you please 🙏 suggest me is lactic acid serum is good for me?
And which will help in heeling my acne scars...any exfoliater.
I also have some black heads and white heads and open pores
U should try a stronger retinoid like Adapalene or tretinoin. Also, you could use tranexamic acid, glycolic acid or kojic acid.
SUNSCREEN IS A MUST AND CONSULT UR DERM, HE'LL KNOW WHAT TO DO CUZ HE CAN ALSO DO PEELINGS, LASER... WHICH ARE MORE EFFECTIVE 😊
The healing of acne scars is mostly a matter of genetics, but regular use of retinol at least 2-3 times per week is key to achieving good results; hence, you don't need anything else. However, you'll need to adjust your routine accordingly. Consider changing the formulation as well, since retinol in squalane often isn't very stable and can quickly lose efficacy.
You can simply follow the routine you currently have.
For the PM routine (I recommend a frequency of three times per week, for example, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while being consistent), follow these steps:
Clean your face.
Pat it dry.
Apply 0.5% retinol (consider switching to a different retinol product like Paula's Choice 0.3% retinol, Good Molecules 0.1% retinol, or G&G Retinol 0.05%). These options have better packaging.
Wait a few minutes, then apply your moisturizer.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thank you so much❤️ for your reply.
One last question, is this ok to switch 0.05% retinol to 0.1% retinol for sometime and then comeback again to 0.05%. will this still be effective? Because 0.01% may be make skin more sensitive as I am a graphic designer so I sit 10 hrs in front of my computer screen.
Computer screens are also harmful for our skin?
Hii melissa love from india❤

Vit C 30% suspension in silicone,
Salicylic acid 2% anhydrous solution

Hey! :)
Alternate between these 3 treatments in your evening skincare routine.
Hello dear,
Can I use azelaic acid with salicylic acid in the same routine?
This is my night routine :
1-cerave foaming cleanser,
2- salicylic acid serum 2%
3- Azelaic acid cream
If you only have the 10% cream, it may work, but for a 20% cream, I would not recommend doing this, especially not on an ongoing basis, as it will lead to irritation.
Hello Ms. Melissa, it's me again..😊 The Cerave Acne Facial Foam Cleanser worked well for me.. Now I am thinking of changing the serum that I am using.. I am using BOJ glow serum. What do you recommend? I have an oily acne prone skin but whenever I had breakout its like 1 or 2 pimple only not all over my face.

Pm
Cosrx Low Ph Cleanser
Instree Toner
Snail Mucin
BOJ glow serum
Pm 2
Cosrx Low Ph
Isntree
Paulas Choice 2% BHA

Do I need moisturizer? Also sometime I used the cerave at night depends if I am noticing some breakout. What is the best way to at least lessen my acne scars? I am tempting to use..tretinoin.. Retinoid.. Azelaic acid.. But i am scared that it can cause more breakouts and what types or brand I have to use
Hello, you again! 🙃
I think the best way is to just give them time to heal and protect them well from UV light so that they do not darken any further. Now, this could be achieved with sunscreen or protective clothing, or by just avoiding the sun as much as possible.
But technically, you could try adding a low-strength retinol 0.1% (Good Molecules Retinol cream is good) or differin (adapalene 0.1%) 2 times in your evening skincare routine, which helps speed up the process.
PM:
Clean face
Pat dry
Apply the retinol 0.1% or the differin gel

Do you have physical scars or dark spots? How long have you had them?
As long as you use sunscreen before going out in the sun, your skin is protected, so don't worry! However, if you spend several hours or the entire day in the sun, I recommend reapplying sunscreen a couple of times to maintain protection.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficialI don't have dark spots or extreme scars I just have some light ones. I'm sorry I dont know exactly how to define the type of scar I've. If you're not experiencing any problems, of course, you can continue with your current routine. However, there may come a time when it causes irritation, and then you'll need to reduce the frequency. This could happen because you may not have that buildup of dead skin cells anymore, and therefore the intensity of your regimen needs to be reduced.

Hey! 😊
Why are you using 2 toners plus an essence? 🤔 I recommend sticking to just one toner and one essence per routine, or you could choose to use only a toner or an essence. The rest of your routine looks good. If you find that you tolerate PC BHA well, you might consider increasing its frequency of use.
Regarding the Salicylic Acid Cleanser, it's possible that your skin is going through a purging phase, but it could also be a reaction to the product. It's advisable to use only one exfoliant-either the cleanser or the BHA toner.
When it comes to sunscreen options, Paula's Choice, Good Molecules, NIOD, BIORE, COSRX, Isntree, and more have great sunscreens. 😎

So, the combination is likely too rich for your skin.
I recommend using just one of them that also suits your skin type! 😊
Hi Melissa💓🫶🏻, I'm going to ask you a question. Please answer me. I bought a cerave foaming cleanser and I am frankly afraid that I will develop pimples on my face because I have seen many people who said that this product increases pimples on the face. What do you think? Give me advice, please. Should I start using it?💋💋
Yes, this could happen initially, especially if you have never used such cleansers before! The skin needs a certain period to get used to it, so during the first uses, or 1-2 weeks, it can certainly create pimples on your skin. But after that, it should be fine, and I am pretty sure that you will love it. If the pimples become initially too much, then go back to your other cleanser for several days and then back to CeraVe. If it happens again, do the same process again. That's how I do it, and usually, within a couple of weeks, it's okay. :)

You can, but since you're already using the Snail Essence and other hydrating products, I don't think that it is needed! :) Use the Snail Cream instead of Cetaphil's Moisturizer. As for sunscreen, Good Molecules, NIOD, COSRX, Isntree, Biore, etc., have great sunscreens.

@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial hi what do you think where should i do my day2 for exfoliating toner in this routine ? im so lost...tqq!!
It depends on your skin's tolerance. You can adjust the frequency of your individual treatments.
hello! i have combination skin. I don't have any pimples or acne, but i'm getting too much oil in my face these days. so I can't really use anything too stripping (since I have combo skin) , but I still need to control my oil. so I was thinking of using2-5% niacinamide instead of salycilic acid. is that going to work?
my second skin concern is brightening.
I have the cos de baha niacinamide+ arbutin in mind. please let me know if that will work.
(sorry for asking so many questions lol)
I would go with the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser or The Ordinary Foaming Cleanser and then layer a light gel on top, such as their beta glucan moisturizer. In between, you could also use a serum with 2-5% niacinamide, yes. But it should already work well with the right cleanser and a gel moisturizer! @@nosh9806 To simplify your routine, use either your Simple hydrating toner or TO Hyaluronic Acid serum - you do not really need both as both hydrate the skin :) However, overall, the order of application looks good. Correct, avoid using Niacinamide and Vitamin C in the same routine. Also, you probably don't need to use a moisturizer in the evening because TO Ascorbic Acid + Alpha Arbutin is an anhydrous solution that feels a bit like an oil. But, in general, if you do not have dry skin, skip using a moisturizer altogether :)
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thank you very very much. I appreciate it
And I've been using the CeraVe blemish cleanser and i was wondering if its normal to experience whiteheads during the first week?
My skincare routine
AM;
-Cleanse with water
-CeraVe Pm Moisturising Lotion
-Sunscreen
PM
-Cleanse with CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser
- CeraVe Acne Control Gel (i alternate this with Retinol)
- CeraVe PM Moisturising lotion
And any tips you have to clear my acne breakout?
It depends; have you ever used a cleanser with salicylic acid before? If not, then it may be just an initial reaction, which can disappear after using it for some time. But it could also be a reaction to it, and then it would become worse; however, in the beginning, it is almost impossible to differentiate between these possibilities. Another possibility is that you are simply overusing all the products, and that you need to reduce the frequency, which is often the case. So you could reduce the frequency to 2-3 times per week and alternate with the CeraVe foaming cleanser or maybe Cetaphil daily facial cleanser. That would be what I would be doing, and you could see if that helps.
AM Routine:
Cleanse with CeraVe Foaming cleanser, alternating with the blemish control cleanser.
Pat dry.
Apply sunscreen.
PM Routine:
Cleanse with CeraVe Foaming cleanser.
Pat dry.
Apply CeraVe Acne Control Gel or retinol (use retinol 3 times per week and gel 2 times per week, if needed and tolerated; be mindful not to overuse them).
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial it's my first time using the cleanser. But thank you sooo much means a lot , I'll give it a try and I'll come back if it's unresolved.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial what about moisturizer because I don't see it in the routine you recommended?
@@tatendaishemukuna9131 Yes, so it might just be the initial reaction, but still I would not overdo it. Generally, the moisturizer is not needed. Personally, for me, it causes more issues than benefits. If your skin becomes overly dry, I prefer to not use the treatments for a couple of days and then go back to them again. This approach works best for me, so I also suggest not using the moisturizer. However, if you feel very uncomfortable not using one for whatever reason, I would go with a gel formulation such as CeraVe Moisturizing Gel or The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + Beta Glucan.

Well, do you generally have dry skin, or is it simply the cleanser making the skin dry? As the moisturizing cream is very heavy, it's definitely not suitable for oilier skin types.
