This came in my feed, I completely agree with some of the remarks you mentioned. I have a 2015 JT Clone Olson SJ that fortunately I picked up before the street price went where it is today. I adore my Olson but couldn't buy one today. Great playing I enjoyed this.
Thanks so much for your compliments, Brian! There is, in fact, a solo album out there called Disintegration Blues that I released last year--the DADGAD piece I played in the intro (entitled "April's Gone") is on there with 14 other tracks. You can find it here on UA-cam, Spotify, Apple Music, etc.; and, if you'd like to purchase a hard copy or downloads, those are available on BandCamp or here at the store (incidentally, we stock a lot of staff-produced music, so feel free to check that out next time you're in!). Otherwise, there is an album of instrumentals done in collaboration with two of my friends (Gene Quinn and Jimmy Galloway) called The White Dog Tracks, and there are also two albums I did with my old band, The Justin Sams Band: Ghosts of the Day, and The Miracle Cure. All the best, Lindsay
Sounds beautiful! A lot of guitars don't speak to me through the internet and my 3" stereo monitors, but this one has great tone across the fretboard vertically and horizontally. It belongs in the hands of a steel string hero. I've been listening to Will Brahm's fingerstyle arrangements of jazz tunes (Sophisticated Lady; Nice Work If You Can Get It). Very impressive, and I think they might sound even better on this guitar than on the Martin he plays.
I agree totally--instruments of this nature are capable of just about anything a player wants to create. In this respect, it is a bit of a double-edged sword scenario: while the guitar is quite inspirational, it can also be quite demanding of the player, as it will readily display any mistake just as it will highlight beautiful playing! Regardless, this SJ would be right at home projecting tunes like those you mention for a player like Mr. Brahm. In any event, thanks for watching and commenting, Eric! Cheers, Lindsay
Thanks so much for watching, Deidre! And, yes, it is an inspiring instrument and a true danger to the bank balance for anyone working in a guitar store... ;-) Cheers, Lindsay
Wonderful playing and the guitar is certainly incredible! Costly yes, but you have to think of these guitars like a Stradivarius violin. Out of my price range but I respect that in the single builder category you’ve got to expect this cost. Fortunately there are less expensive options that are still incredible, like Furch, which is what I have, that can give you all you ever need at a much more affordable price. Of course many other smaller shops and small factories are making great instruments from Santa Cruz to Yairi, Yamaha FG9 and FS9, Boucher, Larivee, and others. At the same time for someone who has the budget to buy something like an Olson, it’s wonderful they are available for folks who are drawn to them!
Hi, thanks for watching! I wasn't sure if you are referring to the tune in the very opening of the video or if you are asking about the first tune that I played in the body of the video (around 4:12). The tune at the very opening is the theme from one of my songs called "April's Gone" which is on an album I released in 2023 called Disintegration Blues: ua-cam.com/video/Osqln7MQkDQ/v-deo.html. The second tune is my arrangement of a tune called "Water Weight, which was written by a long time customer and friend, John Madden (not to be confused with the football John Madden), who passed away in 2008. There is a recording of this tune on a posthumously released album (we still have a few copies here at our store), but it is unfortunately the case that most of his songs and instrumentals went with him. A few of us who knew him well keep his music alive, but there is a video here of him performing the song live at the Red Light Cafe here in Atlanta years ago: ua-cam.com/video/LJjNUZRTAdc/v-deo.html. Regardless, I'm glad to know that you enjoyed the tune, and thanks again for watching. Cheers, Lindsay @ Maple Street Guitars
Great guitars. It will make someone VERY happy.

Man, do you do justice to that guitar! Great playing!!! We all need an album. If you have one, I'd like to know about it.

I'm excited for someone of Lindsay's expertise to represent a guitar like this. He knows his stuff and really does it justice. Lovely overview!
Thanks for watching, Brian! Your kind remarks might have just made my hat size go up a bit! - Lindsay

Booming voice on that thing. Beautiful. Nice harmonics fingering too, Lindsey.
It is beautiful indeed! Thanks for your compliments, and thanks for watching! Cheers, Lindsay
Great playing 👍

What is the name of that first song when you are demoing the guitar? I love the picking pattern you are using!
