Hi, I really don'y know anything about plants but I have kept my ficus, snake plant and some type of spiny succulent that I have, alive for years. Recently, my ficus has had yellowing leaves that drop off. I have neem oil spray from the garden store. I also have insecticidal soap I just bought. Can I mix both together?
Well lucky for you those plants dont require much attention. Do you feed them once a week? How often are you watering? Sounds like it lacking nutrients. As far as the neem and soap, yes yii can use them together. However, i don't think you have a bug infestation problem.
The Nakid Gardeners I saw two little bugs on the ficus plant years ago. I have had them for like ten years. Well the ficus and the snake plant. The other one is new from last year. I had over watered because other two plants died. I had three in one bowl. So, since I lost the other two succulents, I got afraid and I water them all about once a month. Because now I am afraid of too much water. I feel I need to repot them all. But, I don’t want to stress them out. The two older ones were reported like four years ago. They have grown a lot in ten years. Your video came up when I was searching neem oil. I was thinking of trying the neem oil first bu itself and getting some succulent fertilizer. Then, when the ficus is better, reporting them all. They haven’t been fertilized in years... I did fertilize once when the ficus dropped all its leaves. Then I found out it doesn’t like to be moved.
How much roughly should I spray on my bonsai? I have two chinese elms, a juniper and a ginseng ficus. Three are indoors since it's winter and they're tropical but just want to make sure my trees are good. I'm in nyc so outdoors in December isn't an option
OUCH for NYC right now lol. Do you have a pest problem with either one of them right now? I would do a test spray and wait for 48 hrs. If no discoloration on the leaves AND you have pest issues...do a spray once every other day for about two weeks. then just spray once a week.
@@TheNakidGardeners don't think I do and if I do they're so small I can't see. I picked up neem oil did a light spray last night. One question. Will the neem oil harm the pollinators? (bees and good bugs)
Thanks!
We normally spray in the evening after the pollinators have gone for the day. Normally, we do not try to spray the flowers of the plant.

Thanks for this! Our roses are under attack right now and last year they killed the whole thing! It has so many beautiful buds so I’m hoping this will help. We’re also going to purchase some lady bugs to help. Although I did just make the mistake of spraying them during the day 😬 can I spray them down with the hose and then respray tonight?
I am not sure about flowers. If you have sprayed the flowers before then I would not see the harm on it. Or you can just put a shade cloth over them to protect them from the UV rays.
This is our first year incorporating flowers in our garden and we can tell the difference in the garden already. Sorry if I am not much help on the matter of flowers. Hope everything works out ok.
The Nakid Gardeners I wouldn’t have thought about the shade cloth, so yes very helpful! Lol we’ve used cold pressed neem and soap on our house plants and flowers in the past. Thank you for helping out this newbie!! I freaked out when I saw the bite marks in my cucumber leaves!
If I can ask you a question, do you know why my veggies are having trouble blossoming? For example, my jasper tomato plant has had flowers on it for weeks, but won’t bear fruit. Any tips?
How often are you fertilizing and how have your Temps been in your zone? What hardiness zone are you in?
The Nakid Gardeners looks like I’m in zone 9b (inland northern CA). Temps have been pretty hot, around 90-100, but I’ve got my veggies in a spot where they get direct sunlight in the AM and shade in afternoon.
I need to fertilize more - I was about every 3 weeks, but hear I should every week-10 days. My jaspers are beginning to grow finally.
@@eddiefranco6139 ah ok. Once temps reach anything above 90 degrees the plants will start dropping their flowers. It is a defense mechanism to relieve some stress. You can do two things.
Give the plants some bone or potassium to help them flower. Do more of a deep watering instead of frequent water.
Or, take all off the flowers off so the plant can reserve the energy on being healthy
Thanks for the great tip. NEEM is new to me ♡

Aphids killed a lot of our crops last year and really didn't know how to get rid of them until it was too late.
Neem oil isn't too bad. If the smell is bad to have you tried adding rosemary oil or something else to counter it?
The Naked Gardener no actually I haven’t tried that. You mean essential oils or little a sprig of rosemary?
@@BroadwayGardener not essential oil but i believe their oil added to the neem might work. Try adding a few drops to mask the smell.
Great video! How often do you apply the neem oil to your plants? Do you have to do it every week?
For preventative measures, once every 7-14 days. If you are having infestation, every other day for a week, then just routine maintenance. Always apply in the evening to prevent burning leaves in the sunlight.
Do you have a small or large garden? Raised beds or containers?
@@TheNakidGardeners Thank you so much! So so helpful and prompt!
Thanks to you, I will be using this Neem oil mixture to save my bee balm and sunflowers. Question for you... is it OK to spray the Neem oil mixture on the buds and flowers of the plants? I don't want to harm any bees.
You should mot have to spray the flowers just both sides of the leaves and the stem. However, if you do spray in the evening you should be fine.

If you do not mind the scent and the chemicals that is being used then you will be able to use any liquid soap. What hardiness zone are you in?
Hello ..what are the tiny tiny white bugs in the soil? They scatter when u blow on em & hop around, love moisture . Will the neem oil help?
It is hard to say without a picture or video. I would try a food grade diatomaceous Earth (DE). Sprinkle around where you see them. After a week to ten days and you still see them try neem oil. If it not as many add more of the DE
@@TheNakidGardeners thank you! Yes they're everywhere! @@az_growss with the neem oil just apply on the plant and soil once a week. However, since you have an infestation, try once a day (in the evening) everyday for 7-10 days. Then back off to once a day. Do not worry about watering the plants if the soil is moist. you risk drowning your roots.
Will it be ok if we actually end up eating some of it, like say when you spray it on edible leaves like lettuce?
Neem oil is safe fore animals and plants. However, we always do a vinegar wash on all our produce before cooking them. It is an all natural product.

Will this get rid of scale? I have two plants that have started to lose leaves because of it. If yes, how often do I use it?
I am not sure what you are referring to with scales. What kind of plants? Indoor or outdoor?
@@TheNakidGardeners Thank you for your quick reply. I'm from the UK so they may have a different name in the US.
Wikipedia states: Scale insects are small insects of the order Hemiptera, suborder Sternorrhyncha. Of dramatically variable appearance and extreme sexual dimorphism, they comprise the superfamily Coccoidea. (My plants have the red scale)
The plants are indoor plants, a snake plant (Sansevieria) and Jade plant. Thank you for any help/advice you can provide.
One of the leaves on my ginseng ficus had a hole that looks eaten but these are all relatively new trees. Got a juniper outside, two chinese elms and the ficus.
