The song is about working hard, grinding hard to get your dreams. notice how they are in different clothes for different jobs. Police, lawyer, accountant, doctor etc. :)
@@moonchild3860 I also think like that. BTS actually gets quite a lot of attention from international music fans. although the lyrics may not be understandable but their song is very good and their genre as a rookie was also well received by non-Koreans. But it's also true that the peak they attracted a lot of fans was when HYYH was released
You should watch the Dope dance practice video as well. You can see the whole dance and appreciate the choreography more. They reallg are Dope. Thanks for reacting to BTS.
Great reaction ya'll 💜 I've seen that u guys have reacted to other groups as well, but have ya'll seen the group Ateez yet? *Please* consider checking them out, they're one of the best groups out there atm (at least for me). Fans also call them "performance idols" since they're so great at dancing/live performances, they have a great rap line and vocal line too 👌 I'd suggest their mvs for The Real, Deja Vu, Thanxx, Wonderland, Hala Hala, Say My Name, Inception, Answer
You’re right- this is a 2015 song from years ago! BTS used to post MVs on other networks’ channels because they weren’t big enough yet, and needed the exposure from a higher traffic channel. HYBE eventually posted those videos to their official channel.
yes i wish i could watch more reactors watching lyric explanation videos, i was TOTALLY blown away when i recently watched a Korean explaining the lyrics to their rap tune Ugh! on dkdktv YT. I'd always heard how deep their lyricism is and the meanings in that tune were so incredible, and such a timely message......
The reason why the BTS comeback is the most awaited one is because we are all curious of what kind of style of music will the make, they are so unpredictable that even ARMY tries to figure out what will gonna be the next concept...🤯
The word they are using which is translating to “dope” in English is more similar to our slang of saying “sick” as in “that’s sick” when something is cool or awesome so it has that double meaning in this song too. Not just a flex song about how cool they are but how they were working so hard to the point of being sick to get to where they are when other people were out just having fun.
It's really hard to beat young/baby BTS - especially their choreo's. They have said in interviews that their CEO (at that time) would review their choreo and he would even check to see if they were all looking the same direction (with their eyes, not just have their head the same direction) at any given point. These guys DID grind for this - there was a time when they practiced 12 and 16 hours a day. A lot of the early stuff is heavier on the rap. After all, they were supposed to be a hip hop group, but that got changed to a kpop group. Love baby BTS!!!!!!
Ahh what a classic 🥰. You guys should definitely react to Spring Day and I Need U… these are two EXTREMELY IMPORTANT songs for BTS and ARMY! Spring Day is a beautiful and emotional song that means so much to so many people. Even though it was released back in 2017 on their album titled You Never Walk Alone, it is still charting the Korean charts to this day! After you watch it, I would recommend you check out an explanation video to really understand what it is about. And the song I Need U, released in 2015, was the first song to garner BTS an award on a South Korean Television Music Show. This song was a turning point in BTS’ career and laid the groundwork for future stardom.
I actually like their earlier songs a little better because of the rap, but they are so talented no matter what genre they choose to perform. Just unbelievably gifted young men.
BTS don't stick on one genre. They are very versatile. That's why lots of music lovers fell in love with them because of their style of music you just can't find a BTS song you can't like 😊 Glad you guys are back in reacting to BTS songs 💜
Please react to BTS’ lyrics explained by a Korean… any song of your choice lol. They are all great ! And very informative… you will understand why we praise their lyrics so much 💜
BTS were ignored and disrespected when they first started and in 2015 they got their first win, started to get famous and recognized.. people were doubting them and hating them and this is their respond lol.. theyre not as angry anymore because no one dares to doubt their success :)
This was actually their way to clap back to criticism they had been getting about plagiarism and being copycats, so in the most Bangtan way they made a song about it. It is made more obvious in some lines than others; like J-Hope’s part when he says “We’re drenched (x3) in sweat in our practice room, Look my great (x3) dance moves prove it all” and Suga’s “Even if our youth rots in the studio, Thanks to that we are closer to success” that’s them basically telling people that the success they had they had earned themselves, with their hard work and determination. No plagiarism or copying needed. The most obvious of all is when Jimin sings “This is BTS style, nothing like those lying wacks” once again making it clear that their success is their own, nobody else’s and no help or cheating needed. Because BTS is anything but one dimensional, they also use the chance to take some shots at the older generation. RM says “The media and grown-ups say we have no will, denouncing us, Why kill us before we can try” right after talking about giving up at 3 (Sampo), then 5 (Ohpo), then 6 (Yookpo). This alludes to what it’s been called the “give up generations” in South Korea. The numbers reflect what older people say that younger people’s type of lives and their circumstances have come to be in later years; referring to the cruel and competitive Korean job market system that caused youngsters to give up on many things. Sampo generation is said to have given up on courtship, marriage and childbirth as a result of focusing all their efforts on doing good in school to have a better chance at scoring a good paying job in the future. Ohpo generation has given up on courtship, marriage, childbirth, employment and home ownership for the same reasons. Yookpo generation no longer care about courtship, marriage, childbirth, employment, home ownership, and interpersonal relationships according to what could be called Korea’s baby boomer generation; and so on and so forth. So in summary, Dope is also BTS subtle dig at the media and older people, telling them that they were working tirelessly and restlessly not only because they had not been handed anything on silver platters but also because they couldn’t help but to make it harder for young people to succeed by criticizing them nonstop when all they were asking for was to be given a chance. That’s why RM also says “So can i get a little bit of hope? (Yeah) Wake your sleeping youth and go”. Dope is an awesome song with amazing, hard choreography and more than skin deep meaning. BTS’ recipe for success.
Their early years were challenging. They really did grind to make it to the level they are now. I always interpreted Dope like "we worked harder than you can imagine and we deserve all the success we get."
This song is actually more of a social commentary. A lot of people especially in Korea have given up on other things in life such as socializing, dating, marriage, etc in exchange for a successful career to have a stable life. Basically, this song is talking about the sad and harsh realities of life we are currently living in, wherein to have a guaranteed financial stability and/or great career, you have to work harder than everyone else and give up on things that actually make life worth living for. One of my favorite social commentaries by BTS is their song Go Go. It's sort of mocking the YOLO culture but at the same time, it's saying that it is the reality people have to live with. People can't help to live a YOLO lifestyle because of the situations the young people are facing in today's world such as low minimum wage, high unemployment rate, and inflation. So, some have given up on saving for the future and just live life in the now.
please react lay lit, he is chinese but he is a member of exo, and his video " lit " is one of the most expensive made in kpop history, soooo... you know the we need this reaction hahaha. much love from spain.

If you do want to get some insight into the cultural explanations for Dope, both DKDKTV ua-cam.com/video/BCneMXBilJI/v-deo.html and Minidance ua-cam.com/video/FhWUagYBbtI/v-deo.html are very good. Minidance hasn't posted for quite a while but her translations sometimes focus on different nuances than DKDKTV does so between the two you get a fuller idea of the context. For example, in the "n-po" ("Given up on 3? Given up on 5?") explanation, she mentions that RM actually uses a pun ("Well I like beef jerky/How about giving up on 6?" where the two phrases sound very similar), which highlights how arbitrary and ridiculous it is to categorize an entire generation in such a way.

"I Need U" is the song that started getting them a lot more attention along with "Dope." They're on the same album!
