Frankenstein monster was my favorite with Boris Karloff. The Wolfman with Lon Chaney Jr. was also one of my favorite monster movies because you can sense the compassion of both characters thru their inner struggles to communicate their feelings. Very special method acting shown by both actors. Enjoy the fact that Boris Karloff lived in Toluca Lake and that he comes from such a refined background and was so kind and down to earth as well as being a loving father to Sarah and other children who needed attention as well. ❤️🌹Also the Ferndell Park brought memories of my first date with my soon to be husband also while in a church picnic. We hiked all the way to the Griffith Park Observatory. Fond memories indeed. Thank you Jordan & Jah. ❤️🙏🏻🌈

Jordan, that nice home @ 3:53 in your vlog belongs to Jennifer Love Hewitt and her family - they also own the home across the street - i lived in that area in the early 90's - beautiful home and a very nice family, many Halloween nights Jennifer would be there with her mom passing out candy for all the kids - that whole block gave out the BIGGEST candy bars to the kids and had plenty of scary decorations on their lawns

Thanks for this vlog. I know someone who as a child (about 7y/o) took a train ride from Florida to Chicago alone. He was befriended by someone on the train who looked out for him and played games with him to keep him amused. As an adult his parents told him it had been Boris Karlov! My friend said he was the sweetest, kindest, nicest person ever. So glad to see his beautiful home.

Love Boris!!! Got a chance to meet his daughter and her husband in the 1990s. They were both very nice. Yes her father was a very nice quiet man. I truly believe he was meant to be Frankenstein. Love those old movies and even though he was consider a monster in the movie. I always felt sorry for him. There is nothing like the classics!!! Peace to you!!!

The white house to the left of Karloff's home was the home of Bella Lugosi-- that's right, Dracula! Hard to believe they lived side by side, but Universal and Warner Bros. are both walking distance from this location, so this entire neighborhood is a who's who of old Hollywood and current stars. Justin Bieber lives a few doors down and rents for $60,000 per month. To the right of the Karloff home was the house of W.C. Fields. These homes all sit on Toluca Lake-- an actual Lake that almost no one in Los Angeles knows about and only people who live on the lake (34 homes) have access. W.C. Fields was known for having a guy row him around the lake while he drank martinis. On this same street a few houses down is an English tudor home where Bette Davis lived. The house Jordan stands in front of with the dumpster is a Paul Williams designed home built for the founder of the Bob's Big Boy franchise. Jordan also walks past a house that was used as the primary residence for Myrna Loy and Shirley Temple in The Bachelor and The Bobbysoxer-- also starring Cary Grant. Numerous scenes take place in front of the house-- it looks exactly the same today.

Boris Karloff appeared in the stage production of "Arsenic and Old Lace" on Broadway, and was a huge hit in his role. But when the movie was filmed he was still in the Broadway production and didn't want to desert the cast to act in the movie, so Raymond Massey played the role in the movie.

What a name for a star of horror films, Boris Karloff also worked as a lumberjack here in Canada & from what I have read drove a beer delivery truck in LA. He was not afraid of hard work, a lesson for us all. Even the band Black Sabbath took their name from a movie he did called of course Black Sabbath. Jordan your vids are really great, thanks very much and please keep them coming.

My high school helped with a fundraiser for the Shakespeare and Fred took part in the performance there with Liv Ulman and Ron Palillo to name a few. Fred had gone to college with my English teacher so we met him before the show.. He was so nice to us kids.

    Greetings Jordan.
Just finished watching this episode and know for a fact that one of the Canadian cities that Boris lived in while he spent time in Canada is Prince Albert Saskatchewan.
One of its radio stations were talking about him last week, and how he used to be in a play group in that city.
Apparently Boris stayed in Prince Albert for awhile, then left before moving back to Prince Albert for another brief stay before permanently moving away to greener pastures down south.
What a remarkable career. And human being.

I should have mentioned that after Boris Karloff did live in Almer Ontario doing farm work he eventually moved to western Canada British Columbia and Edmunton and then the United States. The gentleman certainly had an interesting life. I'm sorry I never had a chance to just sit and talk with him about his early years. I'm sure he could share some fascinating stories about his travels.

Great video very informative. I knew he was British, but I always thought he had changed his name just to be more mysterious and work in the horror genre. I had no idea he had done so many other theater and acting jobs
