Hi Brandon. Thanks for reacting to Angelica and Tara reacting to Angelica's performance of "Symphony" at the finals of AGT Season 12. I think I mentioned before that Angelica's first vocal coach was Tricia Grey at "Sing Like a Star Studios." She started with Tricia when she was 5 and worked with her until she went to the AGT live shows. Angelica started working with Tara in 2017 when she was 10, primarily because Tara had experience with singing competitions (she was on season 2 of X Factor) and Tara has been her vocal coach ever since (although Angelica has worked with Cheryl Porter on some vocal exercises). Tara coached her through the live shows of season 12 and then through the performances of AGT: The Champions. They have worked together on numerous projects, including Angelica's EP's where Tara often sings backup vocals. And speaking of her hands, if you watch any of her performances before AGT (which there are many on her UA-cam channel) you will see that she used her hands a lot back then. Whether that was natural for her or whether Tricia Grey coached her on where to put them I guess we'll never know. But you should feel validated because you are observant and see all of these aspects of a young, developing talent. And yes, this was recent (Angelica's career will forever be divided into two parts -- before-bangs (BB) and after-bangs (AB)) and Tara has started posting some of the lesson videos (looking forward to that reaction). The next step in Angelica's career is Broadway and the new musical "Boop! The Musical" where she gets to showcase not only her singing but also her acting and dancing. Angelica just posted a photo of her dressing room today. Based on the comments that the other cast members, and even the director, have made on Angelica's posts, I have the feeling that she's going to steal the show.
Angelica & vocal coachTara Simon connect because Tara was an earlier AGT contestant. Tara's been there, done that. She knows the pressure & knows what it takes. Tara recognized Angelica's determination, her work ethic, and her goals early on. And Angelica didn't dissapoint! Angelica's doing what she was born to do. Its been great watching your reactions to Angelica! You are growing tooooo!
Towards the end, when you talk about performers dropping out of the emotion of the song abruptly, and it making the audience feel gypped… I feel it’s the same way with acting. Especially stage acting. I have seen some performers who, as soon as they are done speaking, it seems like they completely drop out of character. It is so frustrating and infuriating, because it takes you out of the moment, and out of the emotion of the scene.
