I think this is the first of Billy's songs i ever heard in the early 80's, maybe on the old grey whistle test or on John Peel's show. Either way i was hooked straight away ! This guitar says sorry is one of my favourites , raucous quality ! Keep up the good work Billy. ✌
To the self righteous individuals that hang onto a couple of societies values and live their lives pressuring all who dont tow the same line - self realisation that adolf hitler lives on in others souls
I guess it depends on the person, I prefer lars because I like his voice but this is great aswell. doesn't mean that this is overall worse, it's just not my preferred version :)
The “social democrats” of today can learn something from this song. I grew up a poor kid in the 80’s. I never wanted or expected a handout from anyone. Especially any government. We were self reliant.
how the hell do you read this as something championing the sacrifice of not having government handouts. this song is talking about how bad it was, and yet in it you see glory.i bet your dad or your grandad used to reminisce to the blitz and how much they enjoyed it, and ill bet you thought that was stupid. and here you are reminiscing to your own blitz.
Seriously one of the greatest songs ever written.
Loved this song for 20 years. Never knew Lars and the Bastards covered it. Down the rabbit hole I go
When fury becomes poetry. Love.
Just made 62...been seeing Billy since the 80s...maybe 8-10 times. The music never fades...LOVE YOU BILL #NEWorleans
Still relevant all these years later, says it all.

The factories are closing and the army's full. I don't know what i'm going to do.

One doesn't have to be 'better' than the other
