Registration is a national certification administered through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. You are eligible to take the registration exam following completion of an accredited program and internship. Starting in 2024, a Masters degree will be necessary. After passing the registration exam, you can apply for state licensure.
Please as a nutrition and dietetics student ehat are the professional courses you can take in this field before i finish my bsc as a final year student? @Lu Akin
I want to follow this path in my life, and I am aware and prepaid to go to school. My question is, during the 4 years I will be in school how much math plays a part in a dietitian / nutritionist work and learning ? Obviously science will be involved, which I am not bad at. . however I have always struggled with math and I want to know if going into this field is the right choice for me.
I think this depends on the school and their specific curriculum. For my dietetics program I only had to take one college algebra class. It is a lot more science and chemistry heavy than it is math!

Thanks for your intuition. Am a degree holder in the section of administration but want to become a dietitian, so what part should I take for me to reach there, please?
Unfortunately its a career path that does not pay a good salary. You have to be very creative and work have an entrepreneurial spirit if you want to truly make more $ as a dietitian
Yes! Also beginning 1/1/24 (at least in my state) you must hold a master's degree to take the exam to become "registered"! And the salary is so bad, unless like you pointed out, one must be very creative, proactive and entrepreneurial
I’d say it’s a supplement certification for a personal trainer. If you do both now you can get someone’s health on track and charge for both. It’s hard to get people healthy from just working out what they eat is just as important.
New sub. Great video. Having looked into this, I think it’s important to understand the significant difference between motivation for nutrition and an interest in the science of dietetics. Do you want to work with people tackling disease who need highly specialised diet hence the intense science aspect of being a dietician. And/or do you truly understand the roel and responsibility of a dietician? It needs specific learning in science in a way nutrition doesn’t. Course syllabuses make these differences and details clear. If interest is more generalised then dietetics probably isn’t for you. Know what you want to do with the qualification and more importantly why you are doing it. There is a difference and a dietician and nutritionist can serve very different purposes. Sometimes it’s helpful to go to different professionals for the two specialisms re perspective and insights.
Thanks so much for this it was extremely helpful. I currently have a BA in Political Science but have a serious passion for nutrition and I'm currently looking into schools that provide a lot of what you mentioned, but what I'm dreading is, taking A&P II and I just saw it as a requirement for a certain University.
