I'm a visual learner, so this was very helpful!
How about a video performing a complete PDI? Thanks!
Sweet! I can see now why the water heats up so quick after flipping on the LP switch... that is a giant heating pipe in a tiny tank 😳 Thanks for all the great videos!
Great demonstration. Thanks! 😀
Nice, Good information
Thank you.
You have a new superfan! I love your videos! I have learned SOOOO much from you already!
Great video! Thank you!!!
Good practical advice. Thanks for producing it.
Love it!! Interesting content!! I can watch your videos all day (heck I have!)
You should make a list of required watching for anyone buying a new RV. Some of the best videos on der interwebs.
Education is always helpful in maintaining what we have. Thanks for the suggestion! This is why we started our UA-cam channel to better educate RV'ers. We strongly recommend having a certified RV inspect your future RV.
Thanks for the video
You sat on this video for long time. Cool. Changed dozens and dozens of these, but never seen inside of one till now. I also recommend to change the whole water heater.
Exciting isn't to see the inside! We love dissecting broken items. ;)
@@MyRVWorks Yes. Awesome video
Very Interesting !
Thank you for what you do! I have learned so much since purchasing a truck camper. I had a bad board last year, Atwood, worked perfectly after changing out to the Dinosaur board. I have a different problem now. Heater lights, goes to temp, draw probably 20 seconds of hot water, then cold. It will go back to hot after a while and back to cold. I watched your flushing video, did that, same problem. It is doing the same on AC and LP. Thermostat? If thermostat why would go hot and cold? It also does not relight once cold water has entered on LP. Another thermostat potential?? Is thermostat not telling it to relight? if so, why hot and cold?? When you showed this video I thought possibly I would see why hot then cold. I do not see that reason. I saw something about you do remote tech service? Would gladly do that with you!!
Awesome, keep up the good work!
You have saved us thousands and being on SSI it really helps... Just want to say TY for your time and what you do...

I’m learning so much from your videos. That was very informative!
hello from the vibrant snowy ozarks darren!! enjoyed your detail illustrantion and hope to see more!!!thanks for your valuable time and effort exposing the inside of equipment that is of value help to understand how things work!! tight lines and cheers!!
Our pleasure! Cheers!
Darren- any idea how long since that tank's last backflush? Would be curious to see a normally-blind backflush on that and see how much comes off. Also- any way you could show your backflush wand in a little more detail? I wanted to build one at home depot but was having trouble finding all the parts. Love your videos, I have learned a lot from your channel- thank you very much I really greatly appreciate it.
Hi Greg! Thanks! Could you send this request to: tricia@myrvworks.com, subject line "UA-cam Video Request" and reference this video? Thanks!
You're the best Darrin!
Thanks for doing that, never thought there was space below the drain, I'll make sure to get that area real good when flushing. keep stuff like that coming.
Our pleasure! Stay on top of your flushing! ;)
wish it was spring here ! but it is good to see ya make new videos. keep up the good work.
Thank you.
Thank you for your great teaching videos.
Please keep them coming.
Thank you! We are planning just that for 2021.
Love getting new content from your channel, thank you
We love providing it too. ;)
So what is the best way to flush that tank? Thanks for all the great videos you give us for our education.
Please refer to the other videos we recommend in this video to help backflush your water heater.
Fascinating!
Does the cal rod help to remove those deposits?
No, and backflushing will help remove those deposits. Stay on top of your maintenance for your water heater, please! - My RV Works Media Team
very interesting, thank you.
Good to see that you are making video's again. It was great to see what the inside of the water heater tank looked like. Looking forward to see more videos like this one.
Lime & fluoride = stuff?
Thanks. I've wondered how the heat is transferred to the water, and I can imagine what would happen if the tank wasn't filled before the propane was turned on. I wonder what the water level would be at if you didn't bleed the air out of the tank when filling it?
Wish to video worked
What does it mean if I can smell and hear the propane gas but there is no spark or seems to be no spark? I hear a click but can’t see the spark and the gas won’t ignite?
Great Video. How hard is it to change out the heating element that would be under your sink area inside?
There is a tool that fits around that heating element. The challenge is the heating element nut is so skinny it's hard for that tool to stay on. Sometimes it will screw relatively easily but most of the time it's a fight. amzn.to/3gIfaay
Did you say what size that water heater is and what it came out of? I know my 10gal Suburban isn't nearly that large of a tank.
I have a 6 gallon Atwood. I am curious if the one in the video is a 6 or 10 gallon?
Curious what you recommend on my water heater that does not have an anode rod. It has a plastic cap and supposedly with my model on a winnebago travel trailer It does not need one. Should I still be flushing it out once in a while?
Thx
🤙🏼🙏🏻
Great video. I have a 2000 Leprechaun and trying to figure out how I can get vinegar into the water heater ( not hot water heater) to clean the calcium off the inside. I tried the flushing method you demonstrated in one of your other video's for over an hour and still getting the same amount out. I have only owned this RV for a year so I don't have a complete history. It is a Attwood / Dometic 6 gal tank. I am assuming because of the age is the reason I can not find any documentation across the web on this procedure. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Again thank you for your video's.
Dang. How old was that unit?
We are not sure how old or maintained this water heater was?
Interesting info, but not all that helpful. Surprised you didn’t cover the importance of replacing the anode rod, proper cleaning and winterizing -
Our UA-cam channel playlist under 'Water Heaters' we have lots of information that cover all those additional topics. ua-cam.com/play/PLk44vSl27TRDhGFiTI7MnrHqlE3mk7Xa5.html
Bueller? Now thats funny, but shows your age, ugh.
