    Dante ,
competive runner through my 20s and 30s, word of advice; your aerobic capablities will increase faster than your muskular skeletal system.
you may feel great but be risking further injury . Take your time and enjoy the ride!
Taking days off is better than taking weeks off because of injury.

Hey Dante, love your channel. 72 yr old lady here. Started sprinting a few months ago and loved it! Can only do a few seconds and always make sure no one is watching me! 😅 The weather here in the uk has been so wet this winter that not too much opportunity for getting out there. I definitely need to take it slowly! Big fan of Dr Omara too. God bless both you guys.

Hey Dante, you don’t have to do a bunch of sprints all the time .. mix it up sometimes do 8 to 12 sprints and some times only do a few.. it still feels great.. almost 55 and sprint almost daily . Sprints and carnivore have changed my body .. my body and mind feel crazy different when I sprint.. it’s amazing..I haven’t started lifting weights yet . But I’m still building muscle everywhere.. I feel and look like I workout.. it’s crazy.. keep rising Dante and spreading healthy eating and exercise..🤜

If you ever need an alternative to sprinting, burpees are a good candidate. They are probably better for overall development and probably won’t stress your nervous system as much as sprinting, nor your connective tissue. You can even do them with a weighted vest.

It's my 8 month Sprintaversary!! 😂❤. Everything you've said about sprinting is true, Dante! Sprinting is the greatest thing!! Addicting too!! Yes, I've done daily double sprinting and I still sprint 5 to 6 days a week. Usually I sprint 500 to 600 meters a day. I took 2 weeks off, due to some Achilles tendon soreness. My whole body has benefitted. My arms and legs feel like cords and steel cables. Listening to my body, my hip muscles ( hip flexors, glutes, adductors, psoas) got extremely sore. I'm incorporating a kettle bell routine to strengthen these muscles. Massage has helped too.
I loosely follow Dr Sean O'Mara's 7 free strategies and I feel his program is cutting edge fitness science! This is the WAY!
CARNIVORE 18mo, 67yo, man, 5'11" 160lbs ------- former TOFI--- I want to get an MRI this summer to see exactly where I'm at.
Thanks for being a fellow sprinter with me, Dante!! The geezer sprinting crew is a lonely road! 95 percent of the population will never sprint again after the age of 30 years old----- we are in a very small group!!

Too true, I don't sprint much but I do enjoy it now and then.
I had a back operation in 2005 and was told that I could not do any jarring sports ever and I had persistent stiffness and sometimes lower back pain for 18 years after.
Nov 2022 after 3 years on carnivore I started eating stews with bones and the stiffness in my back disappeared so I started sprinting and it was fun!

      Thanks for a great report.
Is this your first Achilles tendonitis?
I saw a UA-cam video some time back where one can use an exercise band to strengthen the hip flexors/fast twitch/quads muscle to increase speed.
I use it and it felt helps the knee raises during sprinting.
The proof of the pudding is noticed immediately in pre sprinting full squats, heels down.

I knew you were overdoing it early. Us old people need to take a lot more time to rest than younger people...
BTW, the magic of sprinting is intensity, not duration or distance. Also, you don't want to get into a repetitive pattern. You want to change your duration, times, rest intervals, and add some inconsistency with sprinting, and making sure you get lots of rest, because that is when you get fitter.

I'm currently doing 3 sessions a week at max effort (for me.) I am thinking I need to add a good dose of "Zone 2 (heart rate)" training once or twice a week, maybe aim for 30 minutes twice a week. Zone 2 is supposed to be the "fat burning zone." So I have my intervals covered with sprinting and to lesser degree weight sessions... I think the last piece of the puzzle will be Zone 2 work but I'm not sure what exercise to do, but considering stationary bike just to mix things up.... Any other ideas?

Jogging/running would be better than bike because of alternating moves of arms and legs (you don't move arms while riding bike). These moves make brain hemispheres contact each other and that calms you down (lessen cortisol level).

I know that. I don’t donate to the Red Cross because these days they’re an evil organization anyway. I donate to a local organization because sometimes people do need blood after an accident and I don’t mind helping in that situation, and it allows me to replenish my blood with fresh blood and maintain a comfortable level of iron.
The $20 Walmart gift card isn’t even a consideration; $20 doesn’t buy much these days. It’s almost a joke for them to offer so little. Back in the late 80s early 90s we used to get $50 when $50 actually went a long way.

    Dante,
The heart rate equation used for nearly all monitors/calculators is wrong. Everything is set at 220-(your age)=your maximum heart rate. Well, no. That’s too high. Maffetone’s calculation is much better which is 180-(your age)=your maximum heart rate. The bigger calculation is a bit like the statement of eating carbs is necessary. It’s not true. As carnivores of course we feel like we can do more. But, we only need to mimic our ancestors lifestyle in this modern world.

    • @FerrignoFreedom
      @FerrignoFreedom  3 місяці тому +1

I didn’t use any such calculator, I have just been watching what my HR is when I’m done warming up (usually around 120 now, but 125 a few weeks ago when I started monitoring HR), and when I finish a sprint.
I figured my maximum heart rate (MHR) was simply whatever number my heart rate peaks at when I finish a sprint… Though that number varies depending on the length of the sprint, on average that number has decreased about 10-15 BPM as my sprinting has progressed, and I only started measuring after day 45 so my MHR was probably higher in the beginning.
I just choose to sprint again when my HR reached my avg warm-up HR which happened to be about 70% of that my MHR reaches.
