omg PLEASE review the Punisher, I LOVED it and Ben Barnes in it... it’s too bad he hasn’t been more lucky with being in great films, he was usually the best part in whatever he was in
THE PUNISHER WAS VERY UNDERRATED. Jon, Deborah, and Ben were all brilliant in it and I will forever hold a grudge against whomever was responsible for cancelling it just because they wanted to snatch back the rights for Marvel characters to adapt them elsewhere. 😒

I don't actually know what the timeline was as far as cancellation goes in regards to the creative decisions made for season 2. There's always a possibility that they didn't know they'd be cancelled when they made it. Daredevil season 3 very much came across like they fully expected to keep going. There was so much that had been set up to continue the story. What a waste of quality art, storytelling, and performers. ☹️
Alright you need to explain to me why “The punisher” is good because the 2 first episode felt quite sexist and cliché and I try to push myself to keep going but I can’t motivate myself
I think Ben sounds... ok, he kind of sounds like most english speakers when they try to speak spanish. But as a mexican I'm not sure how a colombian accent should sound like.
I would love it if someone would post a tutorial or an overview comparing and contrasting the Spanish language as it's spoken across different countries/regions. I think it's really interesting to learn about. 😊 🧠
I'm glad you did a review of it and saved me from re-watching it. I saw it in 2013 and I didn't remember anything about it so I was wondering - I mean Robin Williams and Ben Barnes, right? It looks like the kind of film you do based solely on who is in the cast. Your cat is awesome. Black cats are so lovely.
I don't know if Robin Williams had some takes where he let loose more but if he did, they didn't even put them in the final cut. His material was pretty bland, especially considering that he's such an iconic comedy legend. Maybe I'll go through more of Ben's films in the coming months but it really depends. I always have so many videos I want to make that I can't do everything at once. 😂
This movie felt like it was meant to be released in the 80's, got forgotten and then released a few years ago with no changes to the script at all. As a spanish speaker, his spanish is not fluent, but is Ben Barnes, so how can I be mad at him. Also, that's the least of aaaaaall the problems this movie has hahaha
Apparently it's a remake of a French film but I haven't seen that so I didn't mention it in my review because I can't compare them. It's honestly ANNOYING how much toxicity and bad writing there is in the romance/rom-com genre because I LOVE a great love story but if you mess it up then I WILL BE ANNOYED. 👀 🙃

It still would've been exclusionary casting against Latin performers but... it could have softened the blow? 🙃🤷🏻♀️ I'm not Latin but when watching this film I just kept asking myself "Wouldn't this be upsetting for Latin viewers?" 🤭

I think that's just the name of the game when you're a working actor. Even if you sign on for something that looks good on paper, you don't know how it will turn out in the end depending on how it's edited, marketed, how the studio decides to change it if they want that... A MESS. 😳
I also watched the movie bc of Ben Barnes and I was so uncomfortable with the racist/xenophobic comments and the stereotypes,I literally had pause and consider if I was going to continue watching after the lake scene, this movie is trash
I too would like to hear more thoughts on The Punisher. Had a discussion recently with some of my fellow criminology peoples about the optics of Punisher/Batman as pro-police symbols so the character has been on the brain. Not assuming that's an angle you would take but I'd still be curious to see more discussion around the character.

That boosted my annoyance with the way this film treated Latin viewers (but I couldn’t have an opinion on the Spanish since I don’t have the knowledge to judge whether the dialogue is accurate). 😂
