@@JoeyMontalto I switched to the DM-2 on my WRX transmission, and it was amazing. After trying the stock STI shifter and finding it too vague, I went straight to the DM-1 v2. It's excellent-very accurate, stiff, and reassuring. It takes a bit to get used to, and while I currently have the self-centering mechanism installed, I’m considering trying it without. It enhances the driving experience but adds some extra shifting effort that I haven't fully adjusted to even after driving for a while.
It took me 20 minutes to install this driveshaft on my 2019 STI on jack stands in my garage. I've been running this driveshaft for over a year. You will experience some weirdness at low rpm's when you decelerate as the driveshaft doesn't have the same rotational mass as the flywheel.
Hey Joey, can you confirm the carbon shaft is the same length as stock STI shaft? I have a similar setup to you, 2023 WRX with a 2018 STI trans installed. The driveshaft is noticeably too short, by about 2 inches. Is the carbon shaft slightly longer? Thanks
Hey buddy by chance were you able to resolve your issue? I have a 23 wrx as well and I'm hearing multiple anwers on whether va driveshaft works or not. I'd make a custom piece but I'm not able to find the correct measurment.
@@alexthesaxman6219yes happy to answer, cause NO one would help me. I guess that's what happens when so few installs have been done haha. So, in my case, I went ahead and got the DSS carbon shaft for the VA STI. It fits but I think it's still slightly too short for the VB. The thing to keep in mind is whether you're also using aftermarket trans/motor mounts too. I'm using solid mounts everywhere, so it may be holding the trans a bit higher, and not allowing the driveshaft to fully seat into the output shaft of the transmission. I've got maybe 5-10mm where the driveshaft isn't seated fully into the output shaft, I'm going to use a spacer soon to make it fit properly. But technically speaking, it does fit and I've been driving it like this for a couple months.
@@richilg1 Cool thanks for the reply dude. Yea sounds like getting a custom size made seems ideal since there can be tiney variables that can change the size. Definitely hard to get information though I agree lol!
@@alexthesaxman6219 definitely, glad to help. Good luck and have fun with the install! Also another thing that absolutely no one talks about (on VA or VB STI swaps) is the midpipe exhaust hanger. The trans can't be used with FA exhausts since the downpipe is on the opposite side for an EJ. I had to make my own to prevent the exhaust from drooping dramatically.
What did your tuner put the gas cutoff at? It looks like you revving to 7k. Do you think that will be an issue on this engine revving so far past redline?
its a real vb STI
I guess I’ll be ordering one of these after I get this next phase of mods done. Thanks for sharing dude.
Could you please do a before and after on steady state temps with the csf radiator. I have been really tempted on one!!
I like it just for the fact it’s one piece instead of 2 piece
I agree!
There is a reason (physics) why they make them two piece e-brother. wink
@@stock.cars.2nedthey made it 2 piece so I could upgrade to a one piece 😏 lol
Been going back and forth about getting one for my 07 STi.
I would say do it! On an older car I'm sure the center carrier bearing is worn. Would be a nice upgrade for your STi!
I like all your videos! This driveshaft fits to CVT transmission?
Thanks for watching! I believe it's only for the manual transmission
One of my favorite looking vbs, def gonna make mine look like that
Considered a dm-1 v2 shifter with the new precision shifter arm? I run one it's great.
Yes I’ve been looking at those ! How is it?

any noise, whine, vibrations or new noises at higher speeds?
Did this really fit all the way into the transmission or was still short?

@@richilg1 oh wow definitely first time hearing about the the exhaust hanger! Thanks again man appreciate it
Any vibration with the PST? I installed mine and flipped it 180 and still vibrates at 70+ mph...
I've had zero issues with the Driveshaft
Did you have to special order the driveshaft or did you just order the PST CF STI 2015-2021 Drive Shaft?
The 2015+ STI carbon one is a direct fit.

Woah was that Flat foot shifting on the 40 roll? 👀
Ya Cobb now supports FFS and LC for VB
Do you plan on upgrading to the STI master cylinder?
Nope. Not unless mine fails
Why do cars come with 2 piece driveshafts?
to allow total elimination of noise, vibration etc when it rotates at high rpm
get some 30-100 and 30-130 mph times too, doesnt have to be just 0-60 or 1/4 mi times
