Larry is literally the man and I learned everything I know from his vids. Guy knows his stuff
hats off to you for admitting that brother
@@marccon5007 I’m not an expert, I’m always learning and he has been doing it at a whole different level than anyone I’ve seen. His mclaren f1 engine our detail... Jesus. I wouldn’t have the balls to even try lol. He’s damn good at what he does.
The collab I never knew I needed. Awesome! 👍🏻
I've been following Larry for years. I have reached out to him in emails and spoke to him on the phone a few times. Larry is the real deal. He will take time to explain to you what you need to do in your specific case. He's a class act.
I can agree with your statement. I sent him an email with my detailing project. A few days later he responds back to me on what he would do.🤘
I'd still love to see the correct Chevy steel wheels with hub caps on her. Other than that, fantastic build, love this truck.
Absolutely, put those wheels back on the car trailer and do Something more original looking.
There is very little more gratifying than picking up a nice old vehicle cheap, and bringing it back. Cleaning / detailing is fun, especially when some cars you can clean it back to operating. Been watching Ammo vids off and on for several years.
Davin? Love the truck! Love the idea of bringing it back to working order without a ground up restoration. I fully support that and I'm also glad to see you get it looking, 'as-is', as good as it can. It's a beautiful truck and you've done an outstanding job with it. Thank you for all your hard work on it and sharing that with all of us!
For the love of God get rid of them trailer wheels and put some OEM style steelies back on it.
Yea, painted black with a pinstripe and original hubcaps.
Can never be satisfied
widened ones though
Amen. Those ugly trailer wheels have got to go. Return to a more original style wheel.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Ammo is one of the coolest channels out there!! He just built out a really nice detail shop!! I recommend checking it out.. it is great content!!
Smart AF dude
Truck looks awesome it looked really good when you were pulling it out of the woods with the original hubcaps on it and not those bright white stick out like sore thumb trailer wheels just giving you crap I love everything you do appreciate this channel
King Larry is the best detailer you could refer to for this task, his videos are spot on. You two should work more together
When we cleaned up our 1949 chevy after setting for 30+ years, we used Purple Power. It works great. Then buffed out the old paint. Looks good as new 😀👍💯
Greatest Crossover since Avengers Endgame🤩🤩 Hagerty and Ammo NYC
Wow, she buffed out nice! Great job Davin! Thanks Larry for the detail info. Stay safe, God Bless.
Detailing is just so relaxing
Pretty cool to see two of my favorite car UA-camrs together. Not too bad result either. Much better than my first foray into detailing. (not sure if Davin has done detailing before)
She's a good 'hundred-footer'! I'll remember that one! It applies to a lot of 'things'. :))
My only complaint - I was hoping to see it in the sun. Guess I gotta wait for that.
Wow, nice seeing AMMO NYC on your channel. I love that mans channel. Nice plugging the Koenigsegg Jesko he detailed.
I can appreciate what you wanted to do, but this is much better. It brings back the dignity the old girl deserves.
The best paint job any vehicle gets is the factory job good to see your preserving it Davern
I'm a patina lover myself. Being able to see the history in something makes it almost 4 dimensional :)
That badge of honor looks amazing!! 👍
Now just convince Hagerty to offer members an AMMO NYC cost savings deal.😁👍 Ol' '50 looks great!
Friend of my had one of these when I was a teen. Fell in love and wish I could get one.
There was an old product in the seventies blue coral or coral blue that was good stuff. I used it a lot and was very good to bring back an old paint job to shine like new! Greetings from LA.
What a result
You can’t beat the old Lacquer paint I just love the stuff
A great old truck brought back to life!! Great work Hagerty.
Looks great, Davin...you guys will enjoy that! Don't drive it to Mackinac at night. I zipped BETWEEN two does in the dark 2-3 years ago...!
I'm back down South, now but saw a beautiful state in Michigan.
Polish the stainless and chrome! I've been watching coldwarmotors make his way through polishing the trim on a Plymouth.
I've never seen that channel before. Thanks for the tip. Do you have a link to the chrome polishing?
EXCELLENT JOB. made all the difference in the world
Man, all I can say as a new Subscriber and just watched the whole sequence on this Awesome Chevy Truck, as a longtime Graphic Designer who now rehabs mainly Euro Wagons and SUVS but have had a zillion various older cars - I absolutely agree with putting the original as found original Wheels and Hubcaps back. Those cheesy white trailer wheels are killing the Whole Vibe of the Truck. The rest - especially that great original restore in the engine bay and awesome original seat cover/interior - The Wheels are the most important first impresssion. PS I wouldn't put any cheesy 'Protectant' coating on this truck - Ever. It's all about Originality on this Workin' Man's Rig. Great Job, awesome Stovie Chevy
That's exactly what I was calling for -- I knew there was a lot more potential hiding under the oxidation. Now you need the original wheels and hubcaps.
Larry is the best.
I think that truck looks perfect just as it sits.
I prefer the dead skin grunge patina. Matches Davin’s scruff.
Petina is the polite way to say the car looks like garbage.
@@ekscalybur Sure, if one thinks the patina of a life well lived is garbage.
@@MaShcode It was dumped in the woods long enough for someone to be born and enter midlife.....
and it's an inanimate object that can be made to look like someone actually cared about it with a little effort.
@@ekscalybur oh...ok
Amazing man. Pat yourself on the back, the truck looks awesome. You did a super job Davin. Thumbs up bud!!!
Paint back there was single stage but it had hardener in it to make it shiny and weather tolerant. I like the green color.
Omg the best collab ever
Looks great! I hate it when I see those chowder heads clear coat over rust and oxidation and then tell you "Hey, look at the natural patina! Doesn't it look great!" No. It just looks like you were lazy. Keep up the good work Davin!
I agree. Patina looks good occasionally but for the most part it def looks like the owner is too cheap to have it repainted.
“Patina” is what you call rust when forget to do the maintenance.
Nice work !! I call it a 20 / 20 car. Looks great 20 feet away going by at 20 mph. Thanks for all the great videos.
Davin the 50 Chevrolet truck looks amazing the way you buffed it out awesome awesome patina on it looks great excellent job 👍🏼... Jose'
It's amazing what Larry can do with an old abused car, both inside and out. I do t think you could have partnered up with anybody better for this!
Excellent, the Old Gal makes me smile!
The old Chevy looks great! I saw glimpses of it in the background
of Kyle's transmission project, I thought "Is that the old Chevy and why is it so shiny?"
Great work!
What a task, the work you put in for that I can appreciate it a lot. The truck looks great! 👍🏽
Love the look of this truck. Just clear coat or polish it up a bit - love the old patina. Keep it simple: structurally sound and running good.
Man, whatever you do- don't go down that cheeseball "Clear Coat' road on this rig..Travesty
Awesome! Larry is the best!
Line-x or something similar on the running boards will make you happy. Did that on my '46 and love the look.
It looks like you are about as old as I am and I really don’t think you are because I am 68 and I’ve had to use some test boost at least that has helped me sending love too you guys Thank you
love the truck. my dad had a 49 that looked exactly like yours. i wish i could find it but i'm sure i never will.
Omg!!! More universe crossovers!!! Losing my mind!!!!
Best crossover I ever seen 😂
It takes a lot of work to look THIS bad... I love it!
Wow that truck looks fantastic 👍👍
Ugly green paint? ..........Its my favorite color on old trucks!!
Love those louvers on the front fender
But why ? They were there from factory !
@@marcryvon I generally like GM styling cues, including louvers
Wow, what a difference. I love this truck. Makes me want to go get some Ammo products for my 01...
Looks a lot nicer now.
Awesome job. Awesome process. Thank you for sharing. 🇨🇦😎
That is so much work!
I like that old Chevy green.
The truck looks loved now! Great job!
Amazing collaboration! Liked, shared and subscribed!
Time-laps makes it look sooooooo easy!
I am a great proponent of restoration and not a lover of patina BUT when patina is polished it looks good and I am impressed with the truck (not that you care about my opinion)
The wheels just look wrong. Back to some original 16" split rims with 7.50x16 bias tires. They should be about 31,5" tall and help the gear ratio. Don't forget the factory "Baby Moon" style hub caps. It's the little things. I change tires out on spit rims with my rim-clamp tire machine all the time. Most have a safety device.
I like polished original way better than repainted.
Shows the life of the vehicle.
Love where this truck is heading well done 👍🍻
As happy as Larry with that result 😁
Looks great guys!
Glad you spiced her up!
Wax on, wax off Davinson. Now show us your new karate moves.
The old Chevy looks way better.
Better than a paint job and shows the patina.
Yeah looking good! Shiny but with patina.
Amazing how the paint came back like that.
Perfect solution for this vehicle!
Nice work, you inspire me!
Looks awesome.
Great job David enjoyed watching this one!
my two favorite shows coming together. guaranteed if Lary was there in person he would be doing so much more talking and the he would have spent like 3days restoring that pickup
Great 100 footer!
would love future collabs with these heavy hitters
Please please get rod of those trailer wagon wheels.
You can get 8 lug 16x6 wheels from wheel vintiques you just have to keep it at 4 inch max backspacing on the 48-55 3/4 tons. Or tiecrods hit. Lots of us have addressed this when going away from split rims and keeping similar dimensions as originals to keep the stock look. Just gotta buy repro hubcap clips and screw or weld on to use the orig. Hubcaps.
Great truck better and better every time get the stock wheels on it deserves style .
All my best friends in one video!
AMMO - 👍👍👍👍
Love the truck and the show, great work guys!
Looks great except for those "sore thumb" wheels. If you can't swing for some 8 lug vintage looking 16s, as least rattle-can them black. Pleeeeeze! I'll even come up and do it! Bring my own paint and masking tape!
Hello Davin, very nice job on a very nice truck but please, you HAVE to change those wheels, they are hideous. Original steel wheels, maybe a little wilder, with original hubcaps and chromed rims would be perfect!!!
Looks great
Looks great!
I'll be watching for you on 3 mile or Parsons road next time you roll out!
Interesting explanation of the procedure. I'm off to check out his videos.
Great information I live Ammo and its channel.
Can't wait to see the outcome
Looks good 👍
Thats awesome. Just need some original dog dish hubs for it now
I think the truck looks better with the history still on it. Glad you didn’t go for show quality! Great job!
Good stuff.
Check out Mustie1 and his series on rustoring his 1950s VW Transporter truck. He uses toilet ring wax to seal the rusty surfaces and prevent them from getting any worse.
Honestly as a car painter i wouldnt worry polishing it, cause the panel has rust and if not adressed properly its gonna rust again and probably will rot, the paint probably has cracks and ia very thin, but still its their truck though, and by doing it this way it has real patina, it just wont last long, but overall Nice project
If my opinion matters in my experience painting on KBS diamond clear coat by brush or roller works amazing!!!!
Great work, looks fab.
