We headed East to check out one of the newer local events; Ancholme Valley Way parkrun. We almost didn't make it there as Poppy had a horrible reaction to a bee sting but we made it and mostly walked round with little bits of running when Poppy felt able. It was a glorious morning and we had a wonderful time on the Ancholme Valley Way in the sunshine! A flat, fast, out-and-back on the river path which is stunning in the sunshine!
It's a parkrun I'd definitely recommend. In terms of practicalities there is plenty of free parking in Brigg... as well as plenty of public transport options that make this parkrun easy to get to. There are toilets in Tesco (for customers) or public toilets in Brigg. There are tons of lovely cafes to choose from and if you go on market day then you can spend the rest of your morning having a lovely wander around. The parkrun team are brilliant, and super friendly and welcoming, so I'd recommend joining them in The Steel Rooms for your post parkrun coffee and cake.
We're so pleased we visited as we had such a great time. Huge thanks to the team at Ancholme Valley Way parkrun for making us feel at home at your parkrun. Isn't parkrunworld incredible?!
Happy running,
Nicola :)
Reminds me of the Fossdyke near Lincoln. Same sort of path and views. Lovely. You can't beat a gentle run on crunchy ground in the summer under a clear blue sky!
Oh my goodness I am so excited by the thought of running on warm, beautiful, summer days 😃😃😃
Hurrah for walking parkrun! An underrated pleasure that most parkrunners never experience. The more of your videos I see the more I think Poppy's got life pretty much sorted 🙂
Awwww that girl is honestly awesome. I'm so lucky as she's just the best adventure companion ever 💕👩👧 the weather definitely helped but it's amazing the pressure you can take off yourself by saying"I'm walking". All of a sudden Poppy wasn't worried about her leg anymore and she did actually end up running bits... but knowing you can just go to enjoy a walk is really wonderful 🏃♀️ just one of the reasons parkrun is so awesome! 😍
It looks so beautiful there. You were really lucky with that incredible blue sky too. I agree with how lovely it is to have children who have been brought up as part of the parkrun family. Well done Poppy!
We were ridiculously lucky with the weather 😍 awww honestly Poppy's cheering makes me so proud of her but is also hilarious as she'll shout "I believe in you" and things like that to the super fast runners who I think might find some of the things she says weird but I honestly think they're amazing! It's so great to learn to be supportive of others at such a young age and to learn the power of positivity and what we can do with our words 🥰👩👧
I really fancy volunteering at a park run event. I must make that happen!
Yes! You really must as it'll be such a fulfilling experience 😃 are you registered with a barcode? If not then do it today! It's easy and free and is the first step to making it happen! 🤗
@@NicolaRuns Yep. Got the bar-codes next to my bed but they haven't come out in a long time I must be honest! Would like to get back on that :)
@@trailrunningphil oh yay! So you're all ready ☺️ time to get yourself on a volunteer roster 😃
Well done to you both! Part of the course is featured in the Broughton Burn 10k if I'm not mistaken!
You've inspired our little group to run this course this Saturday.
Thank you!
Ooh yay! This Saturday as in today or next week? It's a gorgeous run however I think you may not get the same weather that we did 😜🤣
Lovely vlog in a beautiful place. Well done to Poppy for managing after the sting.
Thanks Allen 😃 Poppy did so well bless her! I wouldn't have blamed her if she turned around and said she couldn't do it but she does love parkrun 🥰
Great parkrun - looks so easy not to get lost ;-) Loved the singing in the tunnel - northern posh, we just groan down south ;-) Thanks for sharing!
This just made me lol 🤣 we just groan down South 😂😂😂 I do like an out-and-back for not getting lost 😉
That’s my local park run, it’s lovely when the sun’s shining like that 😎
Lucky you 😃 It's absolutely stunning on a day like the one we got! We were blown away by how gorgeous it was! 😍
That hill lol
Struggled to make it up that! 🤣 #takeropes 🧗♀️
Well done Poppy for taking your poorly leg to parkrun! (I just signed up for my first cross country race since school, which was last century. I nearly didn’t but I focused on your enjoyment of it as inspiration 😉)
Ooh that's so exciting! Well done! I hope you absolutely love it 🤞🏃♀️😃
@@NicolaRuns update: I had a great time in the hot weather and met all my goals:
A) finish the race
B) not in last place
C) run all the bits that aren’t uphill (and I even ran some of the hills)
The usp for this one is you run through a stream. Will I do it again when it’s back in its usual February slot? The jury’s still out.
@@katiepillar that's ace!!! Well done! 💪🏃♀️😃 Deffo give it a go in February 😉
Looks lovely there xx oh I hope Poppys bitey leg heals quickly xx
Thank you, it's still annoying her today... A full week on?! 🤦🏻♀️ She can run fine though so that's good 🤗 it was super lovely at AVW parkrun 😍 the weather helped but we loved the course! 😃
@@NicolaRuns I swear by antisan cream ( I am an insect magnet so I can sympathise) I would love a barge holiday but I fear I would swell up and scare people after a week of evening midge 😂🐐🙏
@@emmarunyeard6832 oh no! Poor you! Luckily for Poppy she's okay with midges. This was her first ever bee sting though 😩
This looks a like a glorious run!
What a cute dog! 🐶
Awww Juniper was so cute! 🐕 It was a spectacular run on the perfect day for it! We were very lucky! ☀️
Looks like a really nice place for a park run Nicola. Both you and Poppy clearly had a great day. Also loved the yellow fields against the blue sky. So apt given what’s happening in the 🇺🇦 Truly wonderful. As always take care.
Oh Tony how lovely. I'd not thought of the rape and blue sky being like the flag of Ukraine 💙💛 that's beautiful 🥰
That’s another beautiful venue, and I loved the cheers as you both ran in.
This is a great video, Nic.
P.S. I hope Poppy’s sting gets better soon!
The cheers were ace despite being heavily weighted towards Poppy 😜🤣🤣🤣 it was a stunning course and the team were awesome too. Thanks re. Poppy. It's still there a week later but not causing her any bother now so that's a relief! 🐝
So good Nicole ☺️
Thank you, it was a great day! 😍
Anchovy Way
Maybe that's what the seal came for?! 🐟😂
Looks a fantastic run, and a real vision of summer too. Poppy should really get a gig as a motivational speaker
It definitely felt like a summer parkrun 😍 and yes bless Poppy's little positive heart ❤️❤️❤️ she'd be great!
I saw you! (5:25), cheered me up!
I hope you enjoyed your time in Brigg 😀
We loved it! Is it your home event? You're lucky if it is as it is 😍😍😍
@@NicolaRuns yes, I live about 400m away :) I love Brigg 😀
@@dav_dump oh that's ace! A parkrun on your doorstep! 😃
Was a great day for it, we have torrential rain here in Aus for a wet run tomorrow morning
Oh no! Looks like we're getting another good one tomorrow ☺️ good job skin is waterproof for you guys. Hopefully the parkrun weather fairies will change their minds and make the sun shine at the last minute! 🤞😃☀️
@@NicolaRuns last week was exactly that. Forecasted rain sat, we had 30 mm during the night, then clear with sun for parkrun. Nice
@@2nailchallenge636 wishing you the same tomorrow 🤗
@@NicolaRuns hope so, I do the 2.5 klm track clean at 7. Will have the wet weather gear on
Rain stopped for us today, but 50 klm wind. First time I have run with 3 layers
