Always good to see the OG quartet together.
Lincoln was on a roll with the dad's jokes. A sushi roll. 😂
Happy to see IKI get its time on the channel. This is, for us, a perfect 4 player experience.
I always root for Nikki! I love her reaction. And Dave's smile. And your videos, thanks.
Your basically someone of the Samurai or Noble class supporting these merchants through work (contracts) and/or protection and advertisement. The Merchants would then gift back to the Nobles to thank them for the patronage. In some cases it worked like a protection racket but not a illegal one. Also some merchants would actively try and get certain Nobles to patron them because of nobles notoriety would lead to more business. Like with most "feudal time period things". Merchants had the money but no, political power and nobles had political power and no money. This game basically is playing that interaction, looks awesome. Like much.
An almost three hour long GameNight with the crew/gang, absolutely love it 😁❤️
I can't believe no one made a 'Kurt Ko-Ban (sp)' pun!
I feel Aaron's pain when he was trying to explain the game and the players were more interested in puns.
We are here for - all of it!
Must. Hold. Back. Sigh. 😉
Yay! So excited to see this play through of iki! Thank you for sharing y'alls play of this game because now I have a perfect way to introduce people to it and we'll play my copy more.
Thanks for the video. This one was in the shelf of shame and now will finally see the light of day 🥂
The publisher name “Sorry We Are French” is just 👌🏻
Yay!! Aaron is back!
Oh my, Iki by GameNight!? A game I consider to be overly-designed, but with a lot of interesting little parts and ideas, as well as beautiful production (though I still like parts of the original). Certainly seems more complicated than it is.
I considered buying it just to have it a long time ago and changed my mind (as it would never get played here).. so I'm REALLY glad to at least be able to enjoy it via you guys! Happy Holidays!
Overly-designed, interesting parts and ideas, beautiful production, and seems more complicated than it is? It sounds like you're describing Abyss. I really enjoy that game, especially with the expansions. Ooh aah, so pretty...
"I'm so excited about my firefighting, that I forgot to buy shoes." 😆 Sounds like a rough first day on the job!
Great choice of game! I LOVE IKI!
I loved the game....and you guys make it so much fun to watch and easier to understand the rules😃
Been really looking forward to seeing a full teach/playthrough of this game - thanks guys 🙂
A really nice game ! Thanks
Great explanation, thank you
Thank you for this great playthrough of Iki!
cool video. that was the reason I just bought IKI for myself. :)
Thank for How to Play that clear many question I have with 1st edition rulebook 👍
Really wanted to see this game in action! Just ordered it. Thanks for the amazing video!
I remember seeing this on people's lists post GenCon I think, one of the summer cons anyway, and quickly added it to my games to watch for the year. Glad it finally made it to your table, because I've been so curious how this game plays. It seems like a nice mid-weight game that doesn't overstay its welcome, though the playtime on this video is close to three hours. After watching Aaron's teach of the game, I didn't feel overwhelmed at all...sometimes that's the case with bigger games, my eyes glaze over after you explain the 12th or 20th possible thing you can do on a turn or how some board space functions. This seems just hefty enough to not be a family weight/entry level game, but not so heavy it turns off mid-weight gamers like myself.
The playtime isn't almost 3 hours, the whole video is; their actual playtime was 1 hour 50 mins & 12 seconds :)
2:03:10 This building was explained wrong. It's 2 points per person you feed during payday.
I bought this years ago on kickstarter. I really enjoyed it. So, is this a reprint? I’m going to have to break it out again
The dad joke guy is totally me at the table minus the long hair 😀
Sorry, I'm confused but reading the rules, at the first payday, Aaron should get the income from his character - he said he only gets it when he retires but rules example shows the top benefit is earned both at payday AND when retired. Also, the Nagaya Harmony bonus is NOT mons, it is Iki??
Aaron should have kept his building since you don't need to feed your kobun in buildings
Yes, I realized that right at the end or as soon as we stopped filming! My mistake - Buildings do not require food upkeep.
(It was also a really terrible building choice for me and its loss made no/very little difference to my score.)
Iki means bye in my language.
Does that gamegenic token box fit in the box, contain all the tokens, and comes in that configuration?
Spencer the Token Silo is usually an easy fit but you likely have to remove the insert. They do not come in this configuration. We used three boxes to adapt them for three different games. Thanks for the note and for watching.-Lincoln
@@boardgamegeek Thanks Lincoln, love the show!
You don't need rice for your buildings. At least that's what it states in my instructions.
I still don’t know what the Paris France reference is from and at this point I’m too afraid to ask. 😅
It's a Steve Martin line... but I failed to find it with a Google search just now... hmm...
Here you have it: ua-cam.com/video/DOJDNChwgBw/v-deo.html&ab_channel=ChristopherStephenson
@@begibegi8011 Ha, I actually found tons of videos of this track originially, but I wasn't patient enough to listen to the whole thing and must have jumped over it :)
@@davidarnott4850 Hi Dave! A fan of yours here :) I know this one just because it was posted by Lincoln under an older video where someone asked about the reference too...
And when I am already writing to one of the reasons why I became a fan of GameNight - have a great new year and I hope to see you (and listen to your great explanations) in most, if not all, GameNight videos in 2023! :)
@@begibegi8011 Thanks!
Like your videos - could you talk at the end more about how the game works, how mechanics interact with each other, rather than could -a, would-a, should-a
Get those Nike Sandals
I just played a two player game. It sucked. You rarely will help bump up your opponent. You don't get very far for characters at all.
The new expansion adds an character that travels clockwise based on the block tile number and visits shops solely to level them up in a 2-player game. Makes it better.
Hmm.. is there a way to "house rule" this into the 2 player game without having to purchase the expansion? I don't own the base game yet, but very interested in it.
@@mikeshomegardening8150 You could just use one of the other colours in its place when playing 2-player.
This is trash. The game is perfect in 2 player
