+Hans Josef The song simply demands your concentration. Especially, if you crank up the tempo like them. I think it's about the fastest version I have heard so far.
Greezy Mcgill. iknow exactly what u mean.people from the old school didnt believe in making a fool of themselves.my dad was from the same generation as these měn and conducted his self the same.he would call it"act with sense"
Every time I'm forced to leave south Louisiana to go to some other place, invariably crappier, I put this on when I get homesick. Does the trick every time
Correction on this description. The name of the band is Howard Noel & The Cajun Ramblers. I know this fact bc My Daddy is Howard Noel, the leader of the band & rhythm guitar player! By the time this was recorded Aldus no longer had his band & was my dads accordian player. I just showed this to my dad today on 11-20-2016, & he corrected me wen I read the description of this song recording. My daddy is the only musician alive out of that band. And he still plays his French music at the age of 89! I love you dad!!
It is unfortunate when artists get mislabeled and the actual artist is not credited. If someone isn't sure of the name(s), they are better off leaving the wrong ones out completely, and just list it as an unknown artist with perhaps asking commenters if they are able to identify them.
this is awesome- it's difficult to find good footage of Aldus and the boys- thanks to Drew for sending me this-- so that's Howard Noel Jrs dad on guitar! Bad ass old guys!
This is great. Those old boys show how put everything in the music and you don't have to wiggle all over the place in performance. The accordian alone could make it impossible for dancers to keep still, but I love that steel guitar. I just found an old used LP of Aldus in great shape, so I very happy to actually see the man in performance. Merci!!!
+Bonnie Bork I knew Aldus him and my dad were carpenters ~~!~! When he passed Sheryl Cormier called and told me about and the funeral arrangements. Aldus was Sheryl's Idol ~!~!
This is awesome and authentic, but Aldus passed in 1999. Check out the Lost Bayou Ramblers they are taking Cajun music into the next generation and beyond. They play at the New Orleans Jazzfest and regularly in the South Louisiana area. They've done movie soundtracks also. Check them out on youtube.
My favorite accordion player along with Iry Lejeune. Those guys were so talented. I used to go visit Aldus at his house and Louis Foreman was one of many that helped me on fiddle and I have this fiddle that I treasure. I used to visit Mr Alex as well and used to ride to gigs with Don. Miss all these great guys and all legends in my book. They were and are my idols and helped and encouraged me to play music. Much respect. I have the full video some place along with some of Belton playing there as well. These films were done in early 80's for those wondering. Not to be confused with the klfy tapes in the 60's. All the original tapes were destroyed of both klfy and kadn. They didn't realize the master pieces they had.
Hi Travis, I also have a fiddle that I purchased from Louis. It was my first. He was playing with Don Montucet at the time at Mulates in Baton Rouge. It wasn't a very good fiddle, but I'll always remember it because of him. I also will always remember you because you were taking fiddle lessons along with Tammy Dugas with Tony Thibideaux and she was a coworker of my wife's at the time and shared some of your practice tapes.
@@JM-nt5ex i don't know about the legal stuff but due to location i feel pretty confident it's in the south. Personally i love culture, food , and music.

This is one of my favorite Cajun songs and I am an Aldus Roger fan! The cool thing is I got to play this song with La Touche at Mulate's in New Orleans.
My pop loved this song and a lot of the Cajun Music to play on the radio and that my dad would play, now he got into my heritage of music so now I started to love a lot of the Belton Richard, Ivy Dugas, and many others.
Boy does this bring me back to my childhood. Mom was a Cajun from Fordoche, La but met my dad in WW2 and I was raised in Iowa. But make no mistake about it, I'm about 99% Cajun and 1% German (dads heritage), I'm Cajun through and through. Mom absolutely loved Aldus! And I can see why! He's like the Clapton of Accordions.
There was a local tv show filmed in Lafayette, Lousiana I think---it seems to be footage from that show probably in '60's or 70's. Alex Broussard is the man introducing the band. Aldus Roger is not alive.
last comment meant for Bosco Stomp. The title alone deserves the energy of the music. Also, how BONKERSLY, MENTALLY Cooool do they look as well, {As long as your not on your own and lost in a mississipppi swamp when you bump into them }.
The drummer, who also sings here, - I just love his voice!!! It does not sound like any other singer I've heard before, his voice has something unique to it!! :)
this is a little late to reply here , but in northern brazil where they play fojo music [ accordion and triangle ] there`s a tune that is identical to the a part of bosco stomp. that tune was written probably around the same time as bosco. 40`s-50`s i`m guessing. in that area of brazil i believe there was oil drilling with help from folks from louisiana. there may have been a cultural exchange. just a theory.
+Christophe Leroy (cleroy61) Je suis d'accord. Cette chanson c'est une préférée de moi.... happy memories. No place on earth better to be a child than rural South Louisiana in the 1960s.

@kb5urq I don't know the whole history other than Lawrence Walker came up with it. But I don't know if it is totally original to him or he got the tune from somewhere else
Is the steel guitar legit in Cajun music? Doesn't bother me, but it seems close to crossing over to country. Maybe someone who knows more about Cajun music than I do can tell me how often a steel is used.
These men are the masters of the universe! I love how they waste no energy with grimaces. Stone faced while playing explosive music.
Jacqueline Lopez They make surf bands look like headbangers
+kb5urq I'm the same way. I hardly move when I sing, but I don't sing anything as jumpy as this.
+Jacqueline Lopez I know! The accordionist is glaring at me like I hit on his daughter or something.

Mais c'est parfait!!! Perfect!!!
Wonderful accordion, steel & fiddle solo's & very touching vocals by Don Guillory!
Rest in peace, Aldus!
C'est bien neg!!!
Incredible virtuosity from the entire band and Aldus sounds like he's playing 10 squeeze boxes all at once!

+sojnab1 best version I've heard of this song in over 35 years of following Cajun music..
PURE CAJUN,THE REAL DEAL. I WOULD LIKE THIS ON DVD SO I COULD SHARE IT WITH THE LOCAL LIBRARY. THE KIDS THESE DAYS NEED TO SEE THIS :)
I'm from the north Carolina foothills we got a lot of bluegrass but damnit I love Cajun music. It's great to be southern.
This ain't Southern, this is French Louisiana. Southerners are the ones that moved in and ruined this great culture when they made it illegal.

You speak french?
I'm guessing Aldus is thinking of that fishing hole he's gonna hit after this gig
many years ago, i asked zachary richard, who he thought was the best cajun accordion player was ..... he said aldus roger!
If you from Louisiana, you have to love this stuff
oh yeah , the brazilian version is called "baiao" [ sounds like bayou ] on you tube by luiz gonzaga. written in 1949.
Do not know how to speak French, But I just love this Cajun Music.
That is good French song to my mother and my dady too

One bad dude right here
Love it.....makes my feet itch!!!!
He was the master !
Aldus never smiles in any of these videos
That's Lou Lou Cormier on Guitar, not Howard Noel.. K?
This song rocks pretty darn hard. Awesome. And I wonder if the guitar player still has that Gibson? Worth some serious coin now.
The grand master at work.
Sure miss my grand pa

As a Spaniard with Bosque decent I feel a connection with the Cajuns.
I needed this today
the moment he started I just smiled..such fun music
rock solid cajun music!
Are you sure? In the full dvd of the this show, they introduce the band and refer to the guitar player as Howard Noel.
