    Master, thanks for the lesson. There are several questions:
    1. What are the fundamental differences between the Luminar NEO and Luminar AI versions? Which one has what advantages and disadvantages?
    2. If I’m still learning how to work in both programs, is it possible to somehow synchronize the directories?
    3. Is it possible to create virtual copies of frames in order to make different ones and save processing?
    4. Will deleting from the trash permanently delete photos from your hard drive? What if I accidentally exported unwanted images to the Luminar directory? I moved them to the trash can. Is there any way to empty the recycle bin without physically deleting those frames from the hard drive? And won't it go away on its own after some time? There are personal documents. They are not needed for processing, but they are needed for life.
    I'm looking forward to the next lessons. You explain very well.

      1. Luminar NEO is platform as well as an editing software. As such, compared to Luminar AI, it offers functionality like Layers editing, HDR Merge, Panorama Stitching, Focus Stacking and so on. Luminar AI is not supported anymore.
      2. I would not recommend doing that because there is a chance that the two catalogs will clash between each other. There's no functionality that Luminar NEO doesn't have compared to Luminar AI, so I would recommend to only focus on NEO.
      3. Unfortunately, it is not possible.
      4.It could. We recommend moving the files you don't want to have in NEO to another location on your hard drive. This way they will not appear in NEO anymore.

    Many thanks again for this very informative video. As I am getting more proficient with the use of Luminar Neo (mostly thanks to many of your tutorials) there are certain features I wish in Luminar. 1. A folder option where I could move my edited images out from Single Image Edit. The folder becomes too cluttered after a while. 2. Subfolders in My Images of Added Overlays. At present all the added custom images are a very long list and I wish I could store them in separate subfolders.
    3. The same goes for all my Presets and LUTs. It's just a pain to scroll every time through hundreds of presets and LUTs. It also takes considerable CPU and RAM to access these items. More than once Luminar Neo struggles with showing them and a complete shut down and re-opening of the program is necessary. I have contacted the Luminar's support and they confirmed that many others have also requested these features and that they are looking into it. Well, cross fingers.

    Thank you for a the detailed explanation. I would like to share with you the work flow I use on Lightroom and see what is the closest Luminar Neo cad do. Let’s say I created a folder with 100photos on my HD. Next I add this folder to Lightroom for editing.
    1. In Libra ray mode I go very fast all 100 photos and give them numbers 1-5. Next I filter with Lightroom all those having 3 or less score.
    2. After I finish to edit a photo I mark it with red colour. So I know it was edited
    3. I will export only the edited photos.
    What I am missing is easy view what photo was edited and what not (I am aware to the small mark it was edited in neo. However it is small and hidden. I wish they offer the option to Color edited or marked photos)

    What is your workflow when you come back from a photoshoot? After a photoshoot the sd card is filled with lots of photos. I really miss the option like in LR. Pressing X for instance and rejecting the photo, LR jumps automatically to the next photo. That's a feature that I really miss in Luminar.

    • @CleverPhotographer
      @CleverPhotographer  2 роки тому

      Hi Nick, thank you for your comment and question. I would use free Adobe DNG Converter on my photos getting them from the memory card and converting them directly to a new location. Usually a disk dedicated for photos. From there I would already have the location added into my folders in Luminar NEO. So really simple steps.
      1) Insert the memory card, load the images it into DNG converter
      2) Export them to dedicated spot
      3) Start editing in Luminar NEO
      You can watch our tutorial for DNG converter here: ua-cam.com/video/ftKteH-HiiQ/v-deo.html

    The Luminar neo catalogue has filled up my hard drive. How can I move the catalogue and all my edits to a hard drive while having Luminar still function? Thank you Jakob!

    • @CleverPhotographer
      @CleverPhotographer  Рік тому

      Hi Paul, thank you for your message. The size of Luminar NEO can be a problem especially on Laptops where the space is usually limited. Anyway Luminar NEO itself as an application which should be around 4GB (to start) should be installed in your standard application folder usually on the main hardrive to ensure the speed. Than there is Luminar NEO’s catalog. That’s where all the edit information are stored. This can be installed anywhere and I often have it on fast remote hard, so I can move it around. Finally there are the actual images. Those are not stored by Luminar NEO and you can choose their location on import. I often have them on secondary hard drive in the computer. Hope this will help.

    • @CleverPhotographer

      Hi Rob, thank you for your question. The answer is yes. Luminar NEO doesn't use or point to catalog that is not active. It does work similar to Lightroom. However, before deleting it, I would suggest doing the following:
      - Make sure you choose and load a new/different catalog (other than the one you want to delete) in Luminar NEO.
      - Close the application

      Jakob, excellent video on the catalog, as are all your NEO videos. I have a question/concern on how the catalog size might affect the performance of NEO. Obviously a couple hundred photos might not be a problem, but if you had a couple thousand - would that negatively impact the editing process, primarily I’m concerned with the speed. Likewise, just manipulating through the catalog functions, would the number of photos have a material impact on performance? I understand this is a somewhat if not highly subjective question, but I’d be really interested in your thoughts. Again, thank you for your NEO videos, I find them extremely well done & on point.

    • @CleverPhotographer
      @CleverPhotographer  2 роки тому

      Hi William! Thank you for your comment. I have personally never experienced difficulties with my catalogue but heard some users do especially when they import large amount of images at the same time. This isn't a rule as I think it depends on the system and the speed of your computer. I'm sorry I cannot go deeper as I said before I never had any issues.
