I love hockey. I cheer for Canadian teams after my beloved Canucks when playoffs and stuff happens? Firstly a fan of the sport, everything said about Laine in this is exactly why you gotta remember that this sport is BRUTAL. Many a player with unbelievable skills and potential have never achieved what they deserved because of injury, personal matters or whatever? The guys that get the chance to have the career they deserve are few and far between for either being lucky or emotionally impenetrable or both. Really hope that Laine can be back soon? They replay though. My ones hurt just watching. 🦄💦😓
AHHHHHHHHHHH That’s me letting it out. Why??? We were so beautifully setup to generate some consistency this season. The excitement around town has been so great and this just has deflated me. I am praying it’s not that serious but man… it looked bad.
I think Pare wanted to hit Laine when cut to the inside to split through the defenders not to do a knee on knee. Laine's leg was left way out in front of Pare. It looks like he just wanted to hit Laine's upper body. A stationary Pare would need to generate force using his legs and upper body.
I'm a Leaf fan of 22yrs but I've always been rooting for Laine. He genuinely is a top tier player but he's had incredibly bad luck over the years it seems. I'm not sure the hit was intentional but the result is the same either way and he'll be out for a bit. Hopefully it is a "he bent but didn't break" kind of situation 🩵
@@jeraldrobinson6816 Ye, ass kicking justified. But Laine ain't for going full tri-pod / legs spread out trying to squeeze through 2 rookie D men who want to earn a spot on an NHL team. Dude was asking for someone to take his legs out.
@@Xavier-016 i don't disagree but anyone acting like it wasn't intentional and Weasley as hell to run away after lives in Toronto and coughs up Matthews sploog.
The perfect storm. The Leaf's player lead with his leg, just as Laine was gaining power with the skate-spread technique to do a maneuver, that would have surely allowed him to blow by the defender. The shorter and lower-centered Leaf's player was on solid footing, but not in a position to deliver a "clean" shoulder hit. The much taller and leg-lanky Laine was attempting a power-move which made him vulnerable. The Leaf's player instinctively had limited defending options, other than trying to deliver a hit. IMO, it's a "dirty" hit, but one that was likely unintentional. It's an unfortunate hockey play and these types of plays (hits) and injuries are unavoidable by the nature of hockey. I hope it is not serious. Arber is going to wreck the Leaf's in the home opener.
Man, that was on Laine. Pare stuck his knee out transfering the weight from right to left after he bit on the deke. Laine moved too fast to move the left knee out of the way and took a back cut between two defenders. Sucks that the star was hurt off an AHLers knee, but that was nowhere close to "sticking out the knee".
There was no leg stuck out, the guy had his skates spread apart long before Laine got to him and never changed his position. It was Laine who tried to skate through him, the camera angle shows everything and not a single angle shows a leg being flipped out into Laine's path. Laine has been an endangerment to himself since he entered the league, just look how he skates with his head down every time he is receiving a pass. He's been tagged a few times now because of his own positioning.
I am a weird person who likes both teams. Born in one city and have now have lived in the other for awhile. I hate the hit and it should be punished for it. I feel terrible for Laine. He's had such an awful run of it and as a human I empathize with his struggles it just sucks to have this happen in preseason. I hope against hope that it is not a torn ACL (which usually means damage also to the MCL and meniscus). And as someone said below I worry about the damage to his mental health from this setback.
The fuck, man. Laine deserves so much better. I remember last season he missed a bunch of games because some guy came roaring in on a textbook charging call, and now to have this happen in a knee on knee in the preseason of his fresh start. Like, come on, the hockey gods need to show this man some mercy.
I completely hate this. I'm a totally impartial hockey fan, but I was hoping Laine would have a bounce back year. I really hope it's not as bad as it looks. All the best to the Canadiens.
He did not stick out the knee. He shifted to try and push at Laine's shoulder. look at it as where would he push with power from. He did not stick out his knee.
Tripping sure, kneeing no. Pare doesn't stick his knee out, he weight transfers from right to left. Laine has his leg dangling between Pare. It's an unfortunate accident.
"Stick the knee out" is NOT a fair description of the play. He was in the same wide stance behind the blue line BEFORE Laine had even crossed the center line. That play, although unfortunate, is clearly on Laine. 🤷♂️
🤣🤣 Kirby Dach???? No, he won't. He's the next injury just waiting to happen. HuGo is short-circuiting this so-called rebuild by cutting corners and going after these kinds of players.
You’re expecting a mid second line player to take you anywhere is crazy. Domi had as many assists last season as Dach had points. Be happy if the habs don’t finish bottom 3
I feel like a balloon. I was full of air (excitement for the Habs) now with Laine possibly out, it's like someone let go of the balloon and it deflated
I feel bad but at the same time tho he went for a hit and they just hit each other knees obviously one was ready for it but unfortunately the other guy wasn’t. needless to say at least one guy didn’t get hurt .dont forget that Tavares did get hurt from one of those hab players.
Bro what a sin!!! I feel like the hockey gods played a real bad joke on Montreal last night. I felt like with Laine signed to round out their top 6, there would be so much potential for Montreal this year. I can’t believe it.
It’s so weird seeing people playing competitive on the preseason. Maybe if you’re a rookie fighting for a roster spot, but a veteran with a spot on the team?
Im not even a habs fam, but i definitely miss patty on my team. This fucking blows. The fight after was totally deserved and im honesty surprised it wasnt a more nasty massive line brawl.

@@Perkele-u5k Laine wasn't a bust, that's kind of crazy to say. Kakko is also still too early in his career to be labeled a bust, a different atmosphere might help.
One thing i dont understand. How the guy kneeing Laine did not get a penalty. He carried puck and it was sooooooooo obvious. It is crazy how refs managed to miss it. Thats the reason why the game had 3 fights and someone else could get easily injured. Hope Laine has nothing torn and he will get back soon.
if you go frame by frame theres no denying thats gonna be a long term injury, I hope to god not for the teams sake but that leg moved in ways a leg shouldnt move.

This is sad. I was thinking Montreal had a chance to be a high scoring team this season, but this really puts a crimp into that. I hope it's not as bad as it looked.
The first 5 minutes of this Leafs / Habs game was pretty crazy. Despite being down 3 men, Canadiens played a solid game.
I was hoping to see this man get his career back on track, even tho I’m not even remotely a habs fan. Hopefully he has a speedy recovery and can get back on the ice soon and start lighting it up.
AHHHHHHHHHHH
That’s me letting it out.
When I saw this happen, I wasn't surprised at all. My reaction was, this is so typically Canadiens. Every freakin season ffs. 😠
Worst part is does anybody else feel a xhekaj suspension incoming 😂 this league is such a joke
Deserved
@@Xavier-016Nope.
@@Xavier-016 so was the ass kicking after sticking his knee out further than his shoulder for a hit.......
Leafs fan and that game was a bummer to watch you hate to see guys get hurt like that especially in a preseason game
As a habs fan, tonight my heart broke...💔
As a leafs fan im laughing 😂😂😂😂😂😂 soft laine

@@idrhjwagtleaf fans are seriously pathetic
Not as much as laine hahahahahha
Praying for Laine. So sad to see this happen. Cedric Pare made a boneheaded decision on that play.
This is just so sad. Poor guy can't get his body out of injuries. I am really sad for him as a leafs fan
That Laine thing … it hurts even a hardcore caps fan 🫶🏻 …
The new start for him cant end like this
Laine spreading his legs in a situation like that was the main cause, Pare barely bent his knee.
He's been tagged a few times now because of his own positioning.
this preseason has had more injuries than the average game against the scott stevens devils damn
The Black Cloud on this team’s head the last 30 years is ridiculous and I also believe that Bell centre is another huge Jinx….
That whole game was just incredibly stupid. Fingers crossed but it doesn't look good. As a Habs fan, I feel completely deflated.
The league was perfect right after the lockout starting 06-07. We called interference on every play the game was super fast and had amazing hits!
The whole game didn't feel real after Laine left to the dressing room. Poor guy like holy fuck.
"Stick the knee out" is NOT a fair description of the play. He was in the same wide stance behind the blue line BEFORE Laine had even crossed the center line. That play, although unfortunate, is clearly on Laine. 🤷♂️
Kirby Dach will lead The Habs this season to a playoff spot!!!
🤣🤣 Kirby Dach???? No, he won't. He's the next injury just waiting to happen. HuGo is short-circuiting this so-called rebuild by cutting corners and going after these kinds of players.
Holy the delusion 💀
Taveres ran into Corey Perry's knee. Big difference.
@@mrfake675absolutely no difference. Cope.
@@lordtachanka4520No difference? Tavares falled into it while this one was thrown... stop trolling.
@@lordtachanka4520 haha
I hate the Habs but even I feel so bad for them and their fans. Just horrible luck. Always liked Laine, when NYR got Kakko I was so hyped because he was supposed to be our Laine.. I hope he can recover and return.
Both Kakko and Laine are busts. They were drafted really high and they didn't pan out
@@Perkele-u5k Laine wasn't a bust, that's kind of crazy to say. Kakko is also still too early in his career to be labeled a bust, a different atmosphere might help.
0:55 knee was never stuck out until upper contact. 100% not intentional.
Yeah, the leg position looked like he was setting his feet for impact. Laine's leg was extended so far because he was cutting inside.
Feel so terrible for the guy he can't catch a break, wishing Laine a quick recovery.
That looked absolutely brutal, sad
Was watching the game seen reinbacher go off the ice went ok sucks but ok then I seen Laine get clipped and not get up that's super worrying
Who skates in on a defenseman with open legs like that and did not think he would get hit. It's on you Liane. Learn to skate not coast!
Laine just can't catch a break wow, hope he's okay
Man, laine just can’t catch a break, I hope he recovers fast
One thing i dont understand. How the guy kneeing Laine did not get a penalty. He carried puck and it was sooooooooo obvious. It is crazy how refs managed to miss it. Thats the reason why the game had 3 fights and someone else could get easily injured. Hope Laine has nothing torn and he will get back soon.
if you go frame by frame theres no denying thats gonna be a long term injury, I hope to god not for the teams sake but that leg moved in ways a leg shouldnt move.
I had the same injury as Drew it hurt like hell
I feel bad for this poor guy
“LoW kEy”
Do you think nylander tried to flop for a penalty thinking it was an opposing player?
The injury sucks. But it’s not all on Pare. He leaned to stop entering the zone. Which you do. His skate barely moved.
Laine head down leg out. You learn not to do that in minor hockey.
It sucks because I want the Laine that they compared to Matthews. Who hasn’t been seen in 7 years.
His season is done
So is Wifi's
@@-Subtle- unfortunately the league doesn't suspend gooning in a serious fashion. Bertuzzi only got 20 games.
