ロボス・ペレスダニエラ Genuine phimosis is an adult condition. Most cases can be fixed with non-surgical treatments, e.g. steroid cream and gentle stretching. If circumcision is required or desired then it can be chosen by a consenting adult. P.S. Japanese don’t circumcise.

Circumcision is not a big deal. Circumcision doesn't cause any problems, and it has a lot of benefits. It should be the parent's decision whether or not if their child gets circumcised. There are parents who have their baby's ears get pierced, and most people are ok with that.

Imagine asking that question to a victim of FGM. How offensive would that be considered?
I think this demonstrates perfectly the main difference between how men and women are (perceived to be) treated in society. Anything you say and pretty much anything you do to a man, he should just suck it up and take it. Anything you say or do to a woman needs to be carefully considered to not offend.
I don't think any question in itself should be considered offensive, no matter if you ask a male or female. It's the actual intent (not _perceived_ intent) that should matter.

A diagnosis of phimosis in a child who can urinate is malpractice, even if the foreskin balloons out during urination due to a pinhole-sized opening. EXTREMELY TIGHT is the normal, natural state of a foreskin until the child's own curious manipulation eventually makes the skin retractable. The AAP advises ONLY CLEAN WHAT IS SEEN, LEAVE IT ALONE. Only the owner should ever retract a foreskin.

She instead keeps the discussion cerebral and lighthearted (and hence taboo) by focusing on religion and men's discomfort with the subject rather than what a circumcision actually entails and the lifelong negative effects it can have on some men, physically and emotionally. Perhaps if she had talked to some men who are undertaking foreskin restoration she would have understood, and been better able to present, why some men are so adamant that routine infant circumcisions be ended.

It's extremely telling that circumcision is not looked at in the same way that abortion is. The whole 'My Body, My Choice' is not applied nearly as enthusiastically to circumcision for men, especially newborn, non-consenting boys, as it is to abortion for women. In a way, I think men are seen as less vulnerable and more expendable compared to women, hence why we don't look at circumcision the same way we do abortion. Let's face it, we can ascribe all the religious and ideological reasons we want to justify circumcision, but at the end of the day it is still male genital mutilation. Removing the clitoris is seen as female genital mutilation, so why don't we view male circumcision in the same way?

In my opinion, the act is a human rights violation when performed for non-medical reasons with infants. I appreciate religious symbolism and tradition plays a huge role in this act, but question the justification of cutting an infant in a modern context. In our biblical history, it was also acceptable to apply an eye for an eye as a principle of law. Perhaps it is acceptable to reevaluate the basis of our ritual cutting today, just as other principles have been contextualised against modern ethics.
