Absolutely scandalous that a uk government is trying to ignore a democratic vote to leave the eu. Also scandalous that pro eu civil servants are in-charge of the deal making. I thought corruption at this level was only in countries we watch on tv in war torn parts of the world , not a world power like blighty. Mrs May has repeatedly told us no deal is better than a bad deal but now she has changed her tune. She is a puppet being operated by pro eu un-democratic civil servant traiters.

A great question for the PM would have been "What *incentive* does the EU have to let the UK out of this proposed withdrawal period?" It's not a question of an insurance policy, because an insurance policy is something that 1.) has a defined beginning and a defined end, and 2.) is taken out against an event that is *unlikely* to happen. This "backstop" is something that *is* likely to happen. So it is exactly not like an insurance policy.

She has been put in the impossible position of delivering a Brexit which respects the result of the referendum whilst not damaging the country forever. And yet she is surrounded by politicians motivated only by self-interest & personal ambition - and an opposition party playing party politics with arguably the most dangerous threat facing this country since WWII. "This isn't about party politics"
This is all about party politics. None of this would have happened if it weren't for party politics.
This mess we're in was created by people creating an atmosphere of fear and distrust, and it is mainly their fault we're at the point we're at. The rest of the fault lies with the people who voted for something intangible and unplanned. No coherent plan which makes the UK at least as strong as is has been within the EU has been put forward. There is nothing for Brexit supporters to back.
This country is powerful as part of the EU. Outside it we would just be another middle-range country which would not punch above its weight as we currently do. I want to see the UK standing its ground in global politics and having a voice which is louder than it would be were we alone. Brexit is making us weaker.
Why not hold another referendum if so that people can have their say now that they know more about the possible outcomes? It seems to me that most people who'd rather not have one are scared of losing it with polls showing a majority for remaining. That's hardly democratic and the polls can't be ignored. A lot has changed since 2016.
37.5% of the electorate voted for Brexit. That's not a large enough proportion to justify going forward with such a destructive project which will leave this country poorer and weaker. The only way out of this is to find out what the country really thinks.

Brexit needs to be stopped! Go to a second referendum, people didn’t understand what Brexit would actually mean during the first vote, and a lot of ‘leave’ voters only voted that way because they thought that remain would win and just wanted to send a message. This effects my generation most, the young voted overwhelmingly to remain, anyone over 50 should not have even had a say to begin with. Let’s have a people’s vote and stop this dreadful process.

For example, the UK is the biggest importer of Champagne and French cheese in the world.
Spanish, Portuguese and Greek tourism survives on the millions of British visitors and resident ex-pats, who crucially spend their money where they live in these countries, not send it home to support families.
And, the UK is the second largest and most stable economy in Europe.
Do we really think that the EU council despite the arrogance shown will want to jeapordise this?
We have more benefits to offer them than they have to to offer us.
Why are we cowering to them?

British do not want to leave the Union, but this woman really wants them to leave. She isn’t listening to her people. EU will never treat them good. They never wanted UK to leave.

I am not a conservative and would not vote for a conservative leader but I admire a leader who sticks with the task. This unpleasant, thankless task of taking the country through the misery that is Brexit. All those Brexiteers, Farage, Mogg and Boris are pathetic and weak. They have created the mess and disappeared when the going got tough. Not a backbone between them.

If the UK can be put in a worse position from leaving the EU to being inside it then that shows just how damaging the EU has been to Britain, the UK being able to fully support itself is the reason the EU exists in the first place, I'm all for globalisation but low earning people are getting so screwed over, they can't just travel accross a border to find another job like someone in europe can, they're stuck on the island, they could of simply reformed the freedom of movement and work to exclude jobs below a certain value but leaving allows the UK to have full control of itself which if anything is a safeguard for europe and in it's best interest, seems like there's big egos getting in the way of the deal not logic.
