Brilliant videos. I've watched nearly everyone. The only thing i could add to the target sizing, if they are all 0.7 mil, the one ar the furthest distance will be the hardest. While the math is excellent 👌 it can't account for wind, the further the target the more it will be affected by wind.
At what range do we start to have to worry about the Coriolis Effect? 😏 Very interesting vid. Not in HFT, but have you ever had to use this sort of knowledge to work backwards and acquire a targets range? *…just watched a vid by another that tells me you do have to range find. So this information you give in this vid is excellent, well worth installing to the memory banks 👌🏻
Hello and thank you for your video. I fully share your experience and, even after 50 years of practicing this sport, I still remember not to let it get boring. I am German and live in Germany. Unfortunately, the climate here has deteriorated significantly in the last 50 years since I started practicing this sport here. Some people here are becoming more and more hysterical and have no sense of humor. They make it difficult for people like me to shoot in their yard, and when I clean my guns, I prefer to close the curtains because I don't want to risk running into the SWAT police team called by the neighbors. Maybe you felt threatened - help, there's someone with a gun! Basically, Germans behave 300% obediently and submissively in advance and strictly follow the instructions without questioning them. That's why it's better to practice this sport only in one club. And even then, utmost importance is placed on protecting this from the public. Of course, very strict rules apply within a club, even when it comes to the targets to be shot at. It continues just as humorlessly as we are used to. So I can only live out my inner child privately in my closed room or my hidden area without running the risk of losing my reliability. This means that the distance to the target is of course very limited and it should of course be as quiet as possible and only then can I shoot at targets other than the official competition target of the association of which I am a member. Unfortunately, FT or HFT areas are very rare here, which is probably due to the restriction to only 7.5 joules for freely available weapons, because that is simply not enough to “hunt” targets at a maximum distance of 45 to 50 m meet. On the other hand, there are many more real hunting areas and you are generally freer if you get a hunting license here. However, I have no desire to shoot animals, although I enjoy eating meat and generally support hunting.
If that works for you then great. Dots work for me and don't get shot out. When checking zero prior to a comp I shoot a pellet into a clear part of the target to use as an aim point. I prefer that to losing a cross behind my reticle.
Do exactly the same as you , but luckily for me , we have literally got thousands of A4 cards at work we don't use ( come in with packaging regularly ) so I got piles of em at home .. massive table top on stilts @ 30mtrs .. steel plates as backing with 2 pieces of wood to pin cardboard and A4 targets to .. 5 pellet catchers and knockdown / spinners .. design me own targets ( which itself is great fun ) mind you it was a right bugger to get the table top up , guessing it weighs in excess of 50kg .. solid wood .. with steel plates on ... mind you , itll last very long time .. plus got a makeshift squirrel feeder I made at work to bring back and mount .. not that there's a great deal around where I live ... only got 4 all last year off the bird feeder
I think you should have said at what magnification your scope is at when measuring via mil dot.Personally at 10x my 20mm@30,25@40 and 35 at 45 yard are .5 mildot.
The reason I didn't is because every scope is different. Each scope will only show 'true' mildots at one magnification usually specified by the manufacturer. The figures I have are 'true' mildot figures. For example, my Hawke scopes are true at 10x whereas the Sure shot scope is true at 15x.

Rather than aiming at a dot draw a cross/plus sign that way if tho knock the centre out you can still align your cross hairs with the lines
