For anyone wondering if these animated videos are helping others, I would say yes.
As someone who knows barely anything about the Sikh Religion this is very informative. I love learning more and more about this religion because it is so intertwined with the religions of my diverse friend groups and I.
Though I'm not sure about the portrayal of the Muslims, I'm open to accept that many wrongs have been done by us as well.

The Guru made sure to tell the sikhs not to Judge an entire faith based on the the action of bad people who follow that particular faith and that regardless of what religion one is from, if they are good people then they are our family, and if they are bad then it is our duty to stop them. I am sure you are aware there have been many good Muslims etc in the world and there have also been very bad like ISIS.

Agreed, Sikhs are the same as Hindus and Guru Tegh Bahadur is a true Holy Sri Guru 🙏 In fact Sikhism follows Advaita Hindu philosophy, and here he is teaching Bhakthi. Only disagreement with Sikhism is on its view on "idol" worship, which is to say that worshipping an idol should be considered perfectly acceptable and often needed, as understanding Brahman without representation is virtually impossible for most. Even Muslims and Christians use idols/representations without realizing, as do Sikhs with the Guru Granth Sahib itself representing the One. Last technically Hindus are Sikh's "elder brothers," but this analogy is not lost on me.

He just resisted that and had to be put down, all this stuff about the brahmins asking for help and sneakyness of the spies etc. Guys grow up Aurangzeb was a tyrant he beheaded even his own brother Darah Shikoh and served his head on a platter to their father for dinner seeing which Shah Jahan fainted.

I'm trying to understand the 1st part of this video as I have not heard of this before. I am assuming it's from suraj prakash granth by nirmala kavi santokh singh.
so the brahmins sort help from shiva. Shiva appeared to the brahmins and gave them a letter to seek help from the one seated on Guru Nanak's throne.
    1. Why didn't shiva help the brahmins himself as he is all powerful?
    2. If shiva couldn't help the brahims, he could have with the brahmins, appeared to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji himself and ask for help. Why a letter?
    3. Didn't shiva know the name of the one seated on Guru Nanak's throne?

I thought of first two questions too

    • @harijotkhalsa9496
      @harijotkhalsa9496 Рік тому +4

From a mythological perspective Shiva and all gods generally agreed to not directly intervene during the Kal Yug. This is according to one legend that represents the yugas as brothers and the 4th brother was told that during his reign the devi/devte will be kept distant as opposed to other ages where they would be physically visible to anyone. This kind of indirect involvement is reminiscent of blessings that can be found in any faith surrounding divine visions from any number of devotees or saints.
On the second point if we try this kind of logic to all of Sikh history we can ask why did Guru Teg Bahadur save Makhan Shah's boat but Guru Gobind Singh didn't save his young children from being bricked alive. In the end applying too much critical logic to stories involving miracles doesn't work, it leads to an atheistic cynicism.
On the third point describing any Guru as the holder of the throne of Nanak is in keeping with Sikhi. The Gurus themselves would speak about the throne of Nanak similarly. Actually this would show that Shiva understands what this lineage is all about.
So the real question is if we trust Kavi Santokh or not. That's really what it comes down to. Some consider his work as gospel and respect it almost on the level of Gurbani. Some disregard it entirely. We have to evaluate things not based on if it seems different than what we've heard (history was changed significantly after his time) but on if it is coherent with other earlier sources. As far as I know Suraj Prakash does not go against other sources.

this might be an odd question but after watching the whole video it seems it must have been intentional - why was Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji referred to with “they” and “them” throughout the story? i’m not making any assumptions with this question other than that it was clearly an intentional choice, so i’m interested in the reasoning behind it!

Sikh history is not that old that you will start doubting the history in puratan granths . The puratan granths are only 300-400 years This history is written by the great sikh martyr bhai mani Singh who was at the time of guru teg bahadar ji and Guru Gobind Singh ji and other Sikhs also . Yes , the shiv ji part may be later infiltrated or added but aurangzeb asking the meaning of guru teg bahadar ji and aurangzeb getting the answer to his question in that way is mentioned in many sikh granths . This katha is still done in many gurudwaras by sikh preachers. Suraj Prakash granth is still followed by famous sikh preachers. And kavi santokh Singh who wrote this granth himself collected and studied different puratan Sikh sources before preparing this granth . He didnt make or included any history from himself . He made it on the basis of what was mentioned in different puratan sources . It was the modern sikh writers who removed all these things from sikh history and showed sikh history so ordinary. Many famous old sikh preachers used to tell sakhis mentioned in Suraj Prakash granth and sources of bhai mani Singh .

    May Allah guide you.
The issues for me is, if he guru nanak tells muslims to follow quran, it is the quran thats states it is from Allah and it also states in the Quran that, if anybody brings a religion other then Islam, it will not be accepted. Quran cleary rejects reincarnation. Quran actually says that any man can attains gods Mercy and luv infact Allah says he is closer to man then his jugular vein. Allah says any many places in the Quran, that you are all going to meet your Lord.
The prophet Muhammad ( Allah's blessing be upon him) was also the messger of Allah. Quran also teaches us that idol worshiping is a great sin(shirk) and Allah states that he will not forgive shirk(shirk is to give the rights of worship which only belong Allah to something or someone else.)
So my point stands both can't be right.
And Allah also mentions in the Quran that he has perfected the religion of Islam.
So my point is if the quran is from Allah then we should "all" follow it becuase Allah says this is for the whole of mankind ( arabs, Africans, Asians, punjabis, kashmiri, European).
Can you see the contradiction here, again you cannot have 2 ultimate truths.
So either reincarnation is true, then the Quran is.false and if the quran is false why would Guru Nanak tell us to follow something that has a false teaching.
And if Quran is true, and we follow it like guru Nanak has asked us to, then we have to believe as the quran tells us that the teaching of sikhism of reincarnation is false.
    They both can't be right.

In this video itself a good question was asked: If Allah wanted only one religion why did He create more than one in the first place?
Guru Nanak was asked by the Haajis if Islam is better or Hinduism. He said that both the Hindu and the Muslim will go home (afterlife) crying. Unless they do good actions. When Guru tells Muslims to obey the Quran I don't think his concern is the theological beliefs as much as it is being a God-oriented moral person. Actually that section where he says that to Muslims is specifically addressing spiritual hypocrisy and oppressing others. Essentially the message is: don't bother other people, better to actually obey your own moral code and not be a hypocrite. I understand the logical disconnect you are detecting but I'll encourage you to take a deeper look at this reference you've mentioned in its greater context by reading the full section it is found in.

@@harijotkhalsa9496 Hi Harijot, Allah has not created different religions, the religion with Allah has always been Islam(arabic name) is means submission. Submission to what God has revealed. And also in Arabic a person who is in a state of Islam ( submission) is called a muslim. For example if the religion was called "Study" the one doing it would be called a "student". So one could say my religion is Study and I am a student. Thats why our religion is Islam and we are Muslims.
We believe since the creation of Adam Allah has always sent to his messengers Islam, it was other people that gave them selves or other gave them names.
For example we muslims believe Jesus, Moses, abraham, all these people were Muslims as they were doing Islam( submitting to gods will). However people.chnaged it.
So jews called them selves jews becuase they are the tribe of Juda, however if u ask jews what was Judas religion they will say he submitted to.god( in Arabic islam).
The same for Christians, they call themselves Christians as they worship/ follow Christ. But if you ask them was jesus a Christian they would say no. Because jesus did not worship himself. Jesus submitted his will to God.(Islam in arabic). Infact Allah says this the quran.
About your point about pointing out the spiritual hypocrisy thats down to individual people, it doesn't take away anything from the message of Quran.
The theology of Quran is simple, there is only one God and Muhammed is his servant send messenger.
The problem we have is Guru Nanak tells us to follow Quran. The Quran is the word of Allah revealed to the Prophet Muhammed through the Angel Gabriel( jibra'il in Arabic).
And it us in the Quran Muslims are told to tell people about Islam.( submission to God alone). All our practices come from quran.it is the Quran that tells us to give charity, pray fast, and to do Zikr of Allah ( zikr can be described as remembering gods names whenever u want voluntary action.) Namaz is what Allah has said must be done at certain times, even for the lazy Muslims as a minimum.
Your point of letting people follow what they want and concentrating on just one self is not applicable in the sense Allah tells us to do good and to tell others to do good to.
And to us there is nothing better then following revelation the quran( which Allah said in it that he has revealed this for the whole of mankind( this is why you have Muslims from All over the globe( in fact Arabs are less then 20% ).
And the best Good one can do is believe in Allah and his prophets and his book. The worst sin is to deny Allah, or associate partners with him( idol worshiping). So why would Guru nanak ask us to follow Quran as it is the same quran tells us that what u sikhs are on us false.
Further more, what was the religion of guru nanak?
I would encourage you brother to Read the quran and ask Allah to guide you to his true religion.
You know deep down, the guru granth is not the word of Allah, it is a collection of poems and thoughts about Allah written by men.
Is better to follow Allah's word or mens word about Allah?

@@shabz4772 Seriously, read the entire section where "Guru Nanak tells Muslims to follow the Quran". It's very clear that the message is to both Hindus and Muslims to follow their respective religions in such a way that they are not being hypocrites. A more exaggerated interpretation is, "Stop bothering everyone else, just go to your mosque and leave everyone else alone, don't try to oppress others". The instruction to read the Quran has to be understood WITHIN the context of the rest of the text which also tells Hindus to go to Mandirs. Guru does not endorse everything within the Quran at any point, in any way. There are passages where Guru criticizes the Hindu scriptures, and others where they reprimand people for not being more earnest in engaging in those scriptures. This would be akin to a Muslim telling a Christian to adhere to the bible in order to be a better person. In reality I've seen many Muslims not advocate for Christians to be better people, but they do invoke Christians to look at passages of the bible that they believe point to the coming of Muhammed as a later coming prophet. On top of this there are Islamic scholars who would strongly disagree with your interpretation that Islam advocates that all people convert, there is apparently good evidence that Christians and Jews were welcome in the community of the prophet while he was alive as they were not idolators. So I would say that you first have to irrefutably win the modern critical Islamic scholars in debate before telling others what the Gurus said and wrote. That is to say I am a Sikh who is telling a Muslim to understand the Quran better, and yet I will never convert to your religion and feel no obligation to read the Quran myself. See how that works?
If you want to further your understanding in what Guru says you need to read more than just the one passage, which you've taken out of context, that reprimands both Hindus and Muslims. You need to more specifically read the passage where that same Guru subverts the entire lifestyle and practice of Muslims, offering alternatives for the 5 prayers, saying that your hajj is to your heart, saying that being a Muslim is very difficult as you have to have a soft heart, the meaning of being a Qazi and Imam, and many other instructions to Muslims that would apparently subvert the current practice of the religion. After you digest that much more direct passage, line by line, word by word, come back and let us know what you understand the Guru is actually saying.
