can i know why we would have UMN signs below the level of lesion?
If I have this condition ftom a MVA what kind if doctor will help me? Because PT and orthopedic Dr no help. My vision left eye tracking etc. Bladder , all of the above.

Do not depend on the MRI but the symptoms themself! I will not go for the surgery if there are no pains. We can do therapy, Yoga deep breathing, and epidural shot if there are severe inflammation issues . Bodies can heal themselves so try them first.
I I Think I agree. How does that work for severe cases needing bone graphs and spur reduction? I have the symptoms. More than pain. Thank you.
I have cervical sponlitic Myelopathy .A neurologist told me if I didn't have surgery, I'll become paralyzed from my neck down.
@@trudyboschert4472 He might have just told you that so he can make the income. I don't know. Are you having severe symtoms? I have it too and I have seen 4 neuro surgeons and one ortho back surgeion and none have said that, they acted very casual and said do you want to try physical therapy. One even told me it is not an emergency and nothing that needs surgery as long as you can live with the pain. But yours might look totally different on and MRI than mine, so who knows???
@@matchpoint14...Agreed. Surgery is too often recommended as a scare tactic. I hate when the medical industry does that.

Would a MVA 20 years ago cause me to have cervical myolopathy at less than 45 years old? 🤔

From C5-C7 I have moderate to severe canal stenosis and cord flattening, moderate bi-lateral foraminal stenosis, posterior bone spur complexes, disc narrowing, and loss of neck curve. Bending my neck backward most aggravates the numbness on my fingers and neck pain. Its really hard to know how serious this is.
How can I tell if the numbness on my fingers is from the foraminal stenosis versus the cord compression?
Do you think moderate to severe canal stenosis and cord flattening will need surgery?

Can this affliction cause nystagmus? I've been Googling and can't find a direct link. I have all the symptoms of myelopathy which started after a car wreck I was in, but there are a few other symptoms that I have too that aren't mentioned in any of these videos I've found.
Please see your primary care doctor/GP. You could have issues occur that are not related to your accident. Best to get checked out. Dr Google can be scary. Good luck.
Nystagmus is a general Upper motor neuron problem/sign. Myelopathy causes cord compression and some associated upper motor neuron signs. Its important that you go get an MRI so they can find out if it is cord compression or if its something more complicated like multiple sclerosis.
@@megankeily4858 I had a CT Scan with contrast around 2 years ago and the neurologist said he wasn't concerned about it being MS, but why didn't the scan show nerve compression?
@Mel Diablo From what I have read, I think you will need an MRI scan of the brain and spinal cord to diagnose MS. I am on a waiting list to have this done. I wish you well.

Myloradiopathy: both motor and sensory nerves lose abilityntonfully regain function, if they have been compressed for many years. Only in the last fouple years has the condition been operable,. In my case, no intubation for other TJR until neck was stabilized. Will my surgeons approve treatment by specialist chicpractors? Are there such? Oral Prednisone uses for neurologic syndrome, combined with FATriad syndrome, osteopenia, endurance athletics caused a , prematurely aged skeleton- at 39 my doctors said xrays looked like i was in my 90’s. How does one adapt to living as though extremely aged? Every time t try to worl out, cook meals, normal daily activities, hands stop responding, arms buz, and shoulders & neck lock in a cramp. Will this ever get better,? Its opposite, weightbearing is supposedd to strenthen bones, so indid, caused more damage. Every strategy ive tried leads to loss. Everyone: one thing that works, even recaptuing muscle tone, is swimming, daily, minimum 4/hours. I use our pool, and must be heated to 92 F. If you are despondent, feel trapped, this exercise gives you an outlet and improves global health. Your gait may not improve, and dont expect to do all the strokes, side, crawl, etc. But experiencing mobility, hyperstretches (former dancer). is go juice for your self esteem.

Congenital spinal stenosis, saddle anesthsia , osteopenia, encheplitis, istage 4 multifocal OA. Ive lost upper body ROM. Numb slow hands. Was inoperable, surgeon did emergency neck stabilization during covid shutdown, posterior. All my TJI’s & lumbar surgery i i healed rapidly with great results. The cervical op was 8 hours, the. Surgeons had a romote monitor. I know they do fine work. Why, after 3 months of steady gains, is my functioning going downhill, and neck, head, shoulder pain increasing?
Muscle tightness and development of scar tissue. With a posterior approach, large paraspinal muscles supporting the neck have to be dissected off the laminae so that the decompression and screws for the stabilization can be put in. As you heal from this surgery, scar tissue develops and tightens around the peripheral nerves. A good physio can show you exercises to remobilize these muscles and reduce the pain. It can take a few weeks or months to see improvement and the final result of your surgery is probably seen around 9-12 months. I've had several spine surgeries and have experienced all of this.
No surgery is the key.
My C4 has become completely convex and it seems that it has attached to C5. Many doctors say that it is not that severe, and doesn't need surgery. But I feel pain in the left part of my neck, my left shoulder, my left arm, in addition to pin and needling in my only left finger (I have a disability). As long as I take medicine and participate in phisiotherapy sessions, I'm good. Otherwise, the pain and numbness kills me. I wish I could find a way.
I have neck pain and dizzinness. I also have pressure around my head and tingling and a buzzing feeling througout my body! I know that sounds crazy, but it is so very hard to describe! Also my eyesight has started to be involved! I am 70 yrs old, but i do not want to die yet! I have had 3 disc replaced in my cervical collar many yrs ago... Nobody wants to help me! Thank you for letting me vent!!!
@@Sheel151 hey, so sorry you're going through so much pain. I'm 35 and go through a lot of pain most of the time. But with time going by, I've learned things that relieve my pain. One is walking in the swimming pool. The second one is sleeping with a hot water bottle under the area which is painful. Be careful not to trap air in the bottle and don't fill it completely, 2/3 is enough. Thirdly, some relaxing exercises that my physiotherapist has taught me. They help me build muscles. I hope you can find a solution that best fits you.
Yes 70 is still young. Have you tried Cleveland clinic?
Does ones thoratic spine potentially contribute to body tempature disregulation?
I believe it does. I have a paracentral disc protrusion at t8/9 and a herniated disc at t7/8…the 8/9 disc is crushing my cord. I have loss of temperature from my armpits down. I think that in terms of autonomous nervous system, the more important neurological stuff is higher up in the cervical spine.

Thank you, I appreciate that very much. Thankfully, I had posterior thoracic fusion surgery in March, and after a couple of months, the sensation of temperature started to come back throughout my body and legs. As time goes in, it’s becoming more normal again.
As long as a nerve isn’t involved in a “complete” injury, I believe they can be rejuvenated over time by having the pressure taken off of them. My mid thoracic back to the left has a large area that has no sensation, but I think that area’s nerves were crushed for a very long time.
I’m confused. Is he saying that traction can possibly remove the symptoms but not the problem? How does that work? I have been diagnosed with cervical myelopathy an the surgeon is suggesting anterior decompression and fusion at 4-5 and 5-6. He made it sound like there’s no way around it. I have most all of the symptoms, but my pain level in my neck is very low. I’m in the process of getting a second opinion. I’ve had problems for 15 years with my neck. The thing that has helped me the most was using an over the door traction device. This was a nerve compression that was coming off the spinal cord not the spinal cord itself. I have not considered trying traction for this problem. Thoughts?
Hello. I have same issues. Can we manage this whiteout surgery because I won’t do that. Can you give me some advices? I suspect I jade it for about 2 years but it seems to progress
@@mylovleybabe , my understanding is that you absolutely cannot manage it without surgery. I also got a second opinion. You can take the wait and see approach, but eventually you’ll have to have the surgery.The nerve damage will only get worse and cause complete paralysis. I just had 4-5 and 5-6 ACDF surgery. I’m three days postop and my balance has improved 70% and the numbness in my arms and fingers and feet are gone. I do have a lot of pain At the surgical site but that should improve within a week or 2. To be honest I wish I haven’t waited to get a second opinion.
@@EdVonBoeckman I’m happy for you friend but I can’t go any surgery. How did you get your problem. It’s herniated discs that you suffer?
The problem with spinal surgery in general is that it will lead to more surgeries down the road. Never ending. Once the natural biomechanics has been altered, the stress redistribution or stress concentration as a result of the surgery will find weak spots and cause new problems.
@@mylovleybabe , cervical myelopathy. The only option for this is surgery. If you have this diagnosis surgery is an absolute must. There’s no way I would have surgery if I didn’t have to. I really wasn’t in pain. I had functional issues like balance issues, falling down, numbness in my hands and fingers. These things can only get worse if your spinal cord is compressed. (Cervical myelopathy)
I have no pain in my neck except my lower back , my walking and balancing

What is cervical myelomalacia?
It’s a condition due to chronic pressure on the spinal cord. Whether it disrupts the blood flow to certain areas, or softens up the cord itself through the compression. It’s a dangerous condition, and should be brought to a neurologist for correlation quickly

What are the symptoms of myelomalasia , and can it be treated if it happened during surgery in the neck by a mistake from the surgeon, and what is the difference between it and myelopathy..?

Additional risk factor that should be added: Back surgery. Neurosurgeons and other physicians can damage/injure nerves including cauda equina.
Can confirm if your doctor(s) ignore your complaints or if it is otherwise misdiagnosed the patient's function and independence are drastically affected.😂
