That ol girl has earned her keep over the years! Love the sound of an old cat!!
Cat made those dozer’s so well they had to go back to the drawing board because they weren’t wearing out.
I ran a old D8H and D8k.. then the D9L and D10. CAT'S first elevated sprocket Dozer. D348 Engine.. could listen to that ALL DAY... LOVE CATS
Those first L series tractors were Way over built. Moved the 8L up and it became the 9N and the 9L up to become 10N then introduced the 11N.
@oldironguy yes. Ran all of those. Great machines. Great engines
They sound awesome and we're definitely the backbone of early mining. Interestingly l've read a lot of comments saying that the 9G would out push the 9H
@@PAmining I spent a good bit of time on both. Don’t think there was any difference as far as which would push more, but the H’s were by far more comfortable. Hot summer days in those G’s with half of the hydraulic tank right beside you got a bit uncomfortable, to say the least. The old Coleman 1 gallon jugs came in pretty handy. 👍👍🇺🇸
That Era machine made Cat what it is today. No electric control modules (ECM'S) running that mean looking hunk of iron. Just a talented operator.
Here here beers 🍻 well said
Cut my teeth on one of them in the late 70’s . Straight stack, no muffler, and a pony motor . I see this fella has the ac on! 👍👍🇺🇸
🤣🤣🤣😎👍🏼
Old is gold. Thank you for uploading, was a pleasure to watch 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! 😃
66A, Probably the best tractor Cat ever made. They were/are bullet proof. Thanks again PA for another great video.
You're welcome 😁 thank you!
50 years old and still going strong!
Bloody legendary machine the d353 engine has the best sound ever absolute grunt machine
Out of all the heavy equipment ever engineered, this one is my favorite of them all. I love the sound now of that engine.
Thank you Justin for sharing this one with us. I would love to see more of it if possible.
You're welcome 😁 I would have filmed more if she ran longer 😔 the cool thing is, this old girl isn't at an equipment show putting on an act, she's still doing production work :)
@PAmining
I saw that... makes you think how many of the new all computer managed ones would be out there doing this kind of work 50, 60 or 70 years later...?
D9G still working wow 👍👍👍
Worked alongside some D9H in my early mining days. Legendary tractor 💪💪💪
I never got a 9 but the old pony 8H was a bull. 7F and the 6B had glow plugs. Don't need hi-tracks to do a job. That one needs a straight pipe. BLESS Yall!
Pure magic, love these old Cats.
Old school knuckle buster! Love it
The caterpillar D9 Dozer is a Marine's best friend when clearing jungles!!!!
Love these videos, been binge watching them
😃🤩 thanks friend!
No doubt the best Dozer ever built👍
PA M,
Great video of my all time favorite Cat dozer. Also a smooth operator. Happy holidays to you and yours.
Thanks, Boe 👍🎄
Glad you enjoyed it. Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄 -PA
Dear Santa:
All I want for Christmas is every cat made in this era. From D3 to D9. I swear I was good at least one day this year.
🤣🤣🎄
Only problem with this video, is it's way too short!! Thanks PAMining!
I wish I could have caught more, but she didn't run for to long. Thanks!
I never had the opportunity to operate a D9 but I've spent many hours running D8Hs and D8Ns, love to operate dozers.
I need one for my sandbox.👍
Can you imagine how many times this old girl has paid for herself?
Nice dozer working like its 1980. It does need a reskin on the blade though pretty quick.
Bulldozers are my favorite.
Its a old bulldozer but still a powerful beast that can help you too clearing the land😎😎😎😎😎
Makes me want to buy old
Dozer d8 or d8. There is a lot of old iron here in PA!
Old School Dozer.
Jpaydirt goes super in depth on his D9G and D9Hs
D9s don't ever look like they're working hard, even when they are.
Where you plug in Scanner for ECM?
😅😅😅
Imagine me. On a D9G.
With the throttle opened wide.
The roar from the stack.
The squeal of the track.
And a blade that could stop the tide.
Nice!
You can see the newness starting to work its way out of the blade.
Love it!
Am I the only here that is hearing one of the track rollers crying out for help? Or maybe the finals:( I hope I'm wrong:) sorry my mechanic OCD kicked in:) That is really weird a machine that works for more than 5 years and doesn't light on fire who knew? The 70's D9 is my dream machine. I will find one and do a 100% overhaul on it and it will run 40 years without the need for a 3000 dollar laptop and 10 plus visits form a factory tech fresh out of dumb school. For real the pasted 8 mechanics i called in to work on "one" 2014 excavator came out hooked up a laptop failed to understand what the problem was or even turn the laptop on ffs. Never touched the machine with a wrench and charged me 3 grand every time. I spent 1 day with an actual tools in my hands and fixed it. I found out later one of the mechanics that came out for a trouble shoot had no fn clue what he was doing he talked to me about how he's going to fix it than quit his job the next day that costed me 3k. That pile of chit talked to me and lead me on like a used cars salesman. One of the turds went in the cab and knocked out all the acc port cutouts on the dash trying to find the laptop port. DERP DERPITTY DERP DERP, Like a teen in the dark on prom night looking for the hole.
It’s just the tracks making that sound mate they didn’t have SALT tracks back in the day because the low tracks weren’t as hard on walking gear as the high tracks, if a final drive makes that sound you wouldn’t be moving
Nice Video
I wonder how many times this old girl has been rebuilt?…many would say the 9G’s and 9H’s are obsolete, but they sure can push dirt!!..I would have to say the high drive Cats with bogie rollers are likely much better in the rock…I love the old school Cats but a D9R is just a joy to operate!!..
I only have one critique, I was taught to never, ever, backblade on a cat. Not that it wasn't another great vid, love the beautiful noise of an old D9G.
why?
Was hoping u'd take a trip to NC n podcast abt the equipment & rebuild work going on
If I actually made a living off this, maybe l would! 😂
He got that song Smooth Opperator in my head
Thanks friend. Greetings from PA!
Sorry for the rant luv the channel and old iron!!!!!!!!
😃😎❤️ thanks man!
she wears her battle scars well,
Brava 👍collega
Going great for its age, is that a coal mine?
Yes sir!
👋👍
That ole girl looks rough, and still working strong
a question about these older machines and specifically caterpillar. if you had a cat bulldozer from the 1970's would caterpillar still be making parts for them? what about from the 1960's, 50's or 40's? where would anyone get parts to fix them? ( Im sure caterpillar would much rather you buy a new machine?)
Parts are getting harder to source from Caterpillar and some people report that the quality is not what it once was. There are aftermarket sources for most items.
@@Dave_9547 thanks.
@@jamesba-xd7xfsome parts for the really old machines these days(40s,50s) are getting so hard to source a lot of people getting the specs off cat and then getting an engineering workshop to make them from scratch
If you compared the size of of a d9 and a fiat allis fd50 which one’s bigger and by how much
The HD50 was more in line with the D10. Big tractor.
Something is begging for some grease!
The tracks on these machines weren’t SALT tracks so they always squeak even from new but when they are worn like this it’s even worse
