    Thanks for the video dude, I appreciate the in detail differences between the too. Im actually juggling which one because I found both for crazy low prices, but since you went into detail I now know im gonna grab the z97 one, because for 15 bucks more, it is a well worth it price difference.

    Nice review. It's great that you mention the proper names for the ICs instead of the marketing bullshit. You certainly know what your doing. Don't stop reviewing electronics!

    Z87 looks better in my opinion based on heat sink looks.

    One question.. its been 2 months since i builded my whole PC from scratch.. I have 4770K and Z87X-OC.. So do i have to upgrade the board for Broadwell? I mean i won't upgrade but what if things change..would i be able to do on X87..its just a year old board and chipset..
    Than if i'm not a very huge overclocker but overclocks to certain limit, should i even consider upgrading to Z97X-SOC..?
    I don't think there's much difference if i do so even as X87X-OC have 8 Power Phases And SOC have only 4.. Not an issue for me as i don't go that crazy, that's why didn't get Force model on the first place but may be issue for others ..

      I would just say keep what u have for now, u might not even need to upgrade the cpu

      sin0822 Thanks man.. i saw somewhere i7 4790 benchmark and it was just same.. i mean around 3-4% difference because of higher clocks which made me the think to stuck to 4770K.. And now you said too..Thanks again

    sin0822 Not sure if you'll know but will Devil's Canyon be compatible with the Z87 chipset or do you reckon it will require an upgrade to Z97? Ty... Also, your Z87X-OC looks slightly different to mine? My BIOS chips are between the PCI and PCIe Lanes but yours are right at the bottom corner ;) But we're both on Rev 1.0 :S Hehe

    You missed SATA EXPRESS or you didn't think this was important for overclockers?

    Nice review and compare, nice mobo.
    Hope you will continue to update VRM List.
    And Iam waiting for skymount )) Ivy user.

    Gigabyte will be releasing another Z97 SOC which have 4 phases i seriously dont know what they are thinking of lol

    • @alexgrm
      @alexgrm 10 років тому

      Why do you think 4 phases is "not good" for 1150? ))

    • @giggitygoebbels3612
      @giggitygoebbels3612 10 років тому

      4 phases is s joke on a OC board.

    • @alexgrm
      @alexgrm 10 років тому

      Let me remind you, they are in the top of some categories:
      1155 like Z77X-UD3H was 6(+2), maximus V gene was 4, marked as 6 and 8
      1150 like Z87-G45G was 4(+1) and Z87OC Formula is 6(+2), marked as 8 and 12
      All with doubled power phases. ;)
      So If you like power phases marking count 32 was on Xpower and UP7 - are the best oc mobo? no...
      Most boards on Z97 only marked as "12" or "8"...
      I didnt find any info about 4 power phasese variant of Z97 SOC. So we have no idea about PWM complexity :)

      Take a look at this picture

    • @alexgrm
      @alexgrm 10 років тому

      I seen that picture about SOC and SOC FORCE ( similar to Z87X OCs ),
      But you probably count number of mosfets and capacipators. No photos without radiators.
      I do not know what element base is used, so at least its 8 or 4 doubled, and i still dont see any problem there.
      Thats why i said _I didnt find any info about 4 power phasese variant of Z97 SOC_

      Best overclocking board available for Z97 platform, so yes.

    • @jeromehieb6267

      Hi is it better then a ROG MB Z97 HERO VII ?

    • @Syst3mSh0ck
      @Syst3mSh0ck 10 років тому +1

      The Asus Z97 Hero VII is $70 more expensive and lacks any legacy PCI support which is useful for something like an Auzentech X-Fi Prelude 7.1 sound card etc. Also the Asus claims an 8+2 VRM design but this could well include doubling. This board from Gigabyte offers dedicated VRM drivers from top-end IR3580 rectifiers over 8 phases. Who needs more than that?

    • @jeromehieb6267
      @jeromehieb6267 10 років тому +1

      Well i'am thinking of getting z97x-soc or rog hero vii or the msi gaming 7 mb whats the better mb

    • @Syst3mSh0ck
      @Syst3mSh0ck 10 років тому +1

      I was referring to the Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7 not the MSI, they just copied the name and cut costs by only using 6 VRM phases and lower quality rectifiers than Gigabyte's version, also the E2200 network interface has problems on the MSI. Asus charge extra just for the privilege to have useless features which they try and make sound useful through clever marketing, the Gigabyte Z97X-SOC Force is the best overclocking board in this price bracket out of all of them. Buy it.
