ABOUT DIFF'RENT STROKES: Whatchoo talkin' bout Willis? Gary Coleman became a child superstar playing the lovable, mischievous Arnold in this comedy series that brought issues of race and class into American living rooms in the ‘70s and ‘80s. The series begins with Arnold and Willis; two African-American brothers from Harlem going from rags to riches, overnight.

Breaks my heart Dana was in so much pain…I hope she is at peace now….
RIP TO THE ACTOR'S WHO HAVE PASSED AWAY FROM DIFFERENT STROKES BE AT PEACE😘😘😘❤
Sadly it’s almost everybody.
And RIP to your misplaced apostrophe
Wow Pearl is still alive.
Dana seemed to be a sweet woman, she didn’t deserve what she got 💔
I agree!
Its true, according to customers.. Dana Plato was really nice and very down to earth when she found her way working in a dry cleaning shop
What did she get?
RIP Dana Plato💔💞...she was plagued with misery most likely due to the Hollyweird life and lack of loving family guidance.
I miss the days before Social Media sometimes. That was actually a surprise when Dana Plato returned. Now it would have been on Twitter 3 weeks before. How did she know Pearl made sloppy Joe's? She was in "Paris" when they first hired her.
Perhaps she came home to visit and we never saw it.
Rest in peace to all of them that's dead in this classic show 🙏
Dana Plato played Kimberly like a true rich girl who was bred with good manners and decorum but not in a snobby, stereotypical way. That was talent.
In real life, Dana was born to a teen mom who gave her up for adoption. The mother who raised her threw her into the world of Hollywood and Dana was really good at it.
We miss dana plato she was the finest girl on

Her mother was only 16 when Dana was born. Thankfully they met each other before her fateful time on Howard Stern.
I blame him for hurting and embarrassing her. She did too much because of that interview and it cost her her life.
I believe if she hadnt been treated like that she would still be here.
She had so much talent, such a shame.
Love you Dana. Sorry.

This is the last season of Different Strokes on NBC. 1984-1985 season.
Did the show ever explain what happened to Kimberly's mother??... I'm pretty sure growing up I've watched every episode and it was never really mentioned. (RIP Dana and Gary!)
J C I don't remember (either) it ever being mentioned on the show where Kimberly's mother was, but several places online (Wikipedia, IMBd, etc....) all refer to Phillip Drummond as a widower, so apparently, his wife/Kimberly's mom had died. As for 'how' she died, _that_ I don't know. It doesn't say.
R.I.P. Dana . We miss you

What does that useless typing mean any how?
May I echo your sentiment?
Truth. It really was a great show. It's heartbreaking how their lives turned out.
I used to love this show. But it jumped the shark for me when they brought in Sam and his mother. The producers thought they needed another cute kid since Arnold was looking older. You figure Hollywood would've learned from the Brady Bunch's cousin Oliver fiasco, but no.
They should've brought in a cuter kid than Sam.
It jumped the shark before this but this show still makes me feel nostalgic.
I didn't like when they brought in Sam first with Dixie Carter than Mary Ann Mobley. I mean Sam was cute but I missed the older version.
They could've used Joey Lawrence instead, like on Gimme a Break, he looked more like Dixie.
Same thing on the Cosby Show.
When Rudy was no longer so cute and little, Bill Cosby got on the phone and called *Daughters R Us* , and they sent over Olivia.
Rest in peace, Maggie Drummond 🙏🏾🕊️🕊️🕊️ Conrad Bain. Dana Plato. Gary Coleman.
Only Willis, Sam, and Pearl are still alive today. I would have wagered Todd Bridges would have been the first to go. I thought he would have got shivved in the prison shower room. I'm glad he turned his life around.

This was the season finale of season seven she made her big return after her pregnancy
It seems like it went down during the final season they should have never brought her back
@@jenniferholzman119 Are you kidding? What they shouldn't have done is fire her in the first place! Executives were terrible at dealing with pregnancy back then. When Gillian Anderson got pregnant she still remained, only with some slight adjustments to make production go by smoothly.
agree
Just wanted to correct the OP: This is not the season finale. This episode is called Happy Birthday, Drummond while the finale is A Special Friend where Kimberly makes another appearance.
@@AlkisenSuper because she was pregnant at 19 and had a kids. The idea of having a teenage daughter being pregnant was not the best idea for the show at the time. When they fired her the show went downhill from there. They could’ve had like three more seasons if she didn’t get pregnant and stay clean then we have seen her graduate from college and get married
Dana had a lovely singing voice, was a trained dancer and ice skater. Her worse mistake was getting pregnant at such a young age, her life went downhill from then on.
Her worse mistake was getting hooked on drugs
@@nicksandz3209yeah
She was 20 years old when she got pregnant. She was an adult.
God have mercy on Dana plato soul... ❤️❤️❤️😢😢😢😢
It makes my heart explode every time I see Dana god rest her soul she was devine I was inlove with her..such a tragic story... 😭😭😭💓💓💓
Looking at the dates the episodes aired, it was perfectly possible to keep Kimberly in the story, if she recorded the 6th season pregnant, it wasn't even noticeable in the scenes, and in the 7th season her son had already been born when this season aired. , there was no need to include the pregnancy in the story, it was just a matter of leaving it out for a few episodes and returning to the series from that episode in which she participates. The pregnancy wasn't going to affect the story, especially since there was still an 8th season. They were simply mean to her, discarded her and turned their backs.
Is it just me or by bringing in Sam the show lost something. Maybe because Gary and Todd was older.... I think they focused on Gary and Sam and didn't really focus that much on Dana and Todd...
Yeah because they were getting older but the show really changed when they moved to abc, they gave the set that dusty pink color and they replaced Dixie Carter with Mary Ann Mobley, not to mention the theme song change.
@@hadihatab3126 True. I think that was when Dixie Carter went to CBS Designing Women. I felt Dixie was more suited for the role. Too many changes. I was used to the earlier version.
Marty McFly II yeah and plus he looked pretty much the same from this season to most of season 8 but the last 4 episodes of season 8 (episodes 16-19) he lost hella weight and looked skinner and even older. I wonder what happened between the 15th & 16th episode. Plus watching the last episode made me feel sad they it ended. Like it wasn’t even a proper series finale
I think that should’ve ended at season 7, I also think they should just end this as a series finale
I think they should've ended the series with Drummond marrying Maggie. Personally (Unpopular Opinion) I prefer the second Maggie over the first but yes once Maggie & Sam joined the cast the show went downhill. Granted I enjoyed the interaction between Arnold & Sam but without Dana & Todd role being reduced it just wasn't the same anymore.
I wish Dana P would have really gotten help she needed if she did because she would have turned her life around like Todd bridges and be a better person and a mom

Saturday January 26, 1985. Diff’rent Strokes ranked 30th out of 65 shows airing the week of January 21-27, 1985, with a 16.8 rating/28 share.
Arnold is like 30 in this and I didn't know it.
He looks strange ashell
Are you on crack? The last season was 1986. He was born in 1968. I’ll let you do the math. If you can count that high. 🙄
Gary Coleman was 16 years old in this 1984 episode, he was born in 1968.
yeah i think she was high
The show jumped the shark when that little redhead came on. It was like when Oliver came on Brady Bunch
Dana's dismissal for getting pregnant was ridiculous and cowardly. At the time Kimberly was already of age, she was growing up, it would have been really cool to address this topic with her, it would have been cool to see Kimberly's mother, Willys and Arnold uncles, Mr Drummond's grandfather, besides, even if she didn't want to address the topic Because Kimberly was very young, it was still not necessary to do what they did with Dana, she recorded the 6th season without even noticing the pregnancy and after that the series went on hiatus and during that time the baby was born, she could have returned usually from this episode onwards. They hurt her and harmed the series because after she left it became boring
That was a good show
I liked both Maggies but Dixie I preferred a little bit more. She was more energetic and seemed to be ready to run a household full of males. But Mary Ann was so elegant and ladylike, adding a calming femenine energy (maybe a little TOO much considering the set got painted pink during her tenure!).
I LOVED it and still do. HOWEVER , I did stop watching when they brought Sam on...something about that voice and mop head and weird little way. He creeped me out and Arnold was getting blacker by the day. Literally. He went from light brown to pure black
But you got that right here with Willis. Rotfl.
Willis you are the father!!!
Left because she was pregnant so was axed from the series would just make guests episodes after
Sin sin sin u lied about everything 😂😂😂
Sam said that there is a present and both Arnold and Willis wanted to know what it was until he opened the door in which Kimberly enters the house and greets everybody.

Dixie Carter left _Diff'rent Strokes_ after the seventh season, got replaced by the other Maggie "what's-her-name".
Mary Ann Mobley, thats when the show switched to ABC.
@@hadihatab3126 thanks
This is going to be one of my unpopular opinion but I personally prefer the second Maggie Mary Ann Mobley over the first Maggie (Dixie Carter) because Mary Ann Mobley was more of warm hearted mother to Arnold than Dixie Carter version of Maggie.
Dixie carter was replaced because after season 7 the show was canceled. I heard it was gary coleman that talked ABC to pick up the show for it's final season. Dixie carter got a new show designing women before season 8
@@jx5189 Gary Coleman didn’t get along with Dixie Carter and had her fired is why she’s not in the last few episodes of season 7 in 1985. When the show was cancelled by NBC and then moved to ABC the producers got Mary Ann Mobley to come on as Maggie, who they originally wanted for the role in the beginning. Dixie Carter didn’t get Designing Women until a year later in 1986. Also with network change came a new version of the theme song, new set, and Arnold no longer said “Whatchu Talkin About? Bc NBC owned all the rights to it all. NBC let ABC borrow the leather couch for the opening episode for the transition of the way the penthouse was going to look now.

Man willis was hella annoying...
How long was she on hiatus
The way they aired her last season was all weird. Her last filmed shows were around the wedding....very early 1984 and she was starting to show her pregnancy. I don't think she was in the last three episodes filmed. However, they aired some of her shows after she left so it covered up any offscreen issues. This was the 18th filmed episode of season 7, so would have been almost a year since her departure.
@@millenniumman75 ya the 6th season they aired shows out of order, after the 2-part wedding ep, there were eps that showed that Drummond wasn't married, in particular the one with Charlene moves in with them
@Marty McFly II after Mr. Drummond married Maggie Pearl really lost her standing and was no longer like a member of the family. I remember the first ep after the wedding they wanted to get her out because Maggie claims it will make more room for them meanwhile they live in his huge penthouse that is as big as a train station
@Marty McFly II I remember the one with the color TV, I think it is either during the 6th or 7th season. And if u look closely at the S8 opening at the very end with Dana Plato when Pearl is not in it it shows Dana Plato without her shoes on which makes me think that this is a clip that wasn't planned and was just added at the end to make it a little longer perhaps.
@Marty McFly II I just noticed it for the first time when I got the S8 DVDs before then I never noticed it, also on the S8 DVD the first ep the one with Sam going missing is a poor picture quality for some reason but it includes additional scenes that were not shown when it was rerun
