- February 21, 2024 marks the 19 year anniversary of AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER, so to celebrate, the original voice cast of the Nickelodeon animated series -- Dante Basco, Jack De Sena and Zach Tyler Eisen -- surprised Netflix stars Dallas Liu, Ian Ousley and Gordon Cormier with a surprise at the world premiere of Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender -- and recreated an iconic scene in the process.

I don't disagree but it's super unlikely you'd see an ember island players in this new format due to time and tone. Would be amazing no question though.

The director did a poor job directing the live action actor to play Sokka. Just this small clip was the embodiment of Sokka but the live action was the opposite. He was so animated like in this clip but so wooden in the live action. Sokka suppose to be a scardy cat, showoff, tactical and jokey but I hardly got that in the live action. hopefully the showrunners read the mixed reviews and direct the actor better for season 2.
Look at how excited the kid playing Aang was to see the original actor. He was the most excited and all he saw was a video. He's definitely fit to play Aang! Clearly a huge fan! I'm so excited to see this show!
He hadnt watched the show until after auditioning for the cast. He does enjoy the show but definitely not “a huge fan”

@@philipsparks6089 if you've ever heard him talk about the show, you can clearly tell he is, in fact, "a huge fan". who cares when he first saw it? Avatar is timeless, and one of the points of this live-action is to create new fans of the show, the live action as well as the animated one

@@philipsparks6089 he has probably watched the show more than you. He's said he matched it more than 20 times. That's a huge fan compared to other actors of adaptations who don't bother looking at the source material because it would spoil them.

Im not gonna lie. Who ever is the fashion stylist of Ian and Dallas, deserved an award or a raise. I love every outfit so far on each interviews.

For years I've heard this all over the internet but I had NO IDEA that it was from ATLA until yesterday when I watched the episode that it's from for the first time so I'm kind of freaking out
It's hard to think of another show where the team behind it is SO passionate and connected to the fans. I think as long as they keep that passion, they've got a good chance of pulling it off... Fingers crossed

Considering the OG creators left the development 9f this show, im a little cautious of what Netflix has done. Holding out hope it'll still be good tho. After all, they cant possibly screw up more than the movie did.

If/when we get a live-action adaptation of Book 3's "The Ember Island Players," PLEASE have Jack De Sena be the playwright actor reprise his role as Sokka. And then when Jack De Sena's playwright Sokka asks "Who are you?" after receiving comedy bits from Ian's Sokka...instead of Ian responding with the original line, "I'm just a guy who likes comedy," have Ian's Sokka say, "I'm just a fan."
It'd be absolute GOLD. You're welcome, Netflix.

I swear the actors for aang seemed to remind me of aang with roku. That roku would guide and support aang with his experience and age but cant be there in person despite his desire to be there and support him in person.
The actor for Sokka was a perfect cast-looks like the character and sounds like him.

After having watched all the episodes I’ll say this:
If you want to ruin this show by giving it the impossibly high standard of the animated series you will ruin your experience.
This show is great and adds to characters we already love. Things are condensed down because Netflix has 8 episodes and they have to run through 20, 20 mins episodes and still have story to tell that makes sense.
Zuko, Aang, Iroh, Zhao, and Ozai are all my favorite characters in this series for this season. I think this is a show people will enjoy. I’m sorry if you will only hold it to the animated series

The casting for this show was extremely well done. Not only did they try to keep the looks similar, somehow they found good actors with similar-ish voices. It's remarkable.
I wasn't a fan of the live action but that is definitely not the fault of the cast. I find it really sweet how big of fans they are of the original series.

Ian Ousley was the best pick for Sokka. I really wish to showrunners gave the show more runtime for season 1 and I wish they got more time to shoot the show, because it did seem very rushed, like they took a lot of first takes and some of the lines didn't have that level of polish an quality that the animated show had.

it was so cool seeing dante at momocon in 2014. i saw him and sifu kisu. i didn't know sifu kisu but he was really cool. i got to take pictures with both of them. it's still one of my things i never thought i would have gotten to do in my life.
