I have heard that honed countertops are a better choice for aging in place vs. a highly reflective polished finish. That makes sense to me. A consideration for flooring: Wood or even wood look flooring is much easier to stand on when working in the kitchen vs. tile or stone. So your feet and back will thank you for adding the texture of wood to your floors. Thank you for your great content Michael! Always love your videos!
Wonderful content! For matte countertops, are there certain materials you would recommend above others? Looking for durability, ease of cleaning and a clean matte texture.
Many of the suggestions (reeded cabinet doors, brick splashback/backsplash) are NIGHTMARES to clean. My preference for textures in the kitchen is wood (floors & countertops away from water) and accessories & plants especially since the later are easily and inexpensively replaced if they become too grimy to clean.

Agree,
You didn't mention stone on the walls. I've seen some gorgeous kitchen accent walls in stone.
I didn't catch the name of those trendy Moroccan tiles he mentions...any idea?
Zellige
But some of us prefer smooth, glossy surfaces.
Textured cabinets and backsplash are very time consuming to keep clean - I’ll pass on this.
