St Joan of France is a really admirable figure. The life that she made for herself after the annulment was amazing.
Thanks so much for watching again Vishnu.
A lot of people now would say "that's how bad noble men treated women back then", without thinking about the possibilities these men actually had. Louis' decision to unite the Bretagne with France was extremely beneficial for his people.
The marriage with the Tudor princess was ridiculous, but enabled her to marry Charles Brandon for love.
Another wonderful video. Thanks, Nieke!
Agreed Renias, doesn't take away the fact that to obtain the marriage she wanted, she had to first marry an individual she did not care for, with all the consequences that go along with that. One cannot imagine what these women had to go through.
@@TheKingsofFrance True. I should have written "at least it enabled her".
Thank you for another amazing video. And can I just say, I was a heroin addict for 12 years, I’m 32 now and I’ve been clean since oct 22. And your videos have been instrumental in helping in my recovery. Your channel along with a couple of other channels, have been an amazing distraction for me as your 1 of the best historical channels on the whole of you tube! So thank you so much your amazing content. your videos have got me loving history again lol! Thank you so much and take care 😊
Mad respect for you ! Keep up the great work ! I'm so glad you're here now !
@@TheKingsofFrance thank u so much I really appreciate it and I’m looking forward to future videos! Xxx
Congratulations on getting yourself clean.🙂
@@ChibiProwl thank u so much Leah ur message means a lot to me. Take care xxxx
@@jessrosefawkes2721 you're welcome 🙂
Very hard times for women especially not being allowed to see their children. Excellent as always , merci 🌸♥️!
Thank you so very much Christine, I appreciate your continuous support. And indeed, a mother should never be separated from her children.
The third wife, Mary Tudor, was the happiest one! Thank you, Nieke! Loved the video.
Thanks so much as always Manuela !
Wonderful video you did a fantastic job. You have such a beautiful speaking voice.
Thanks so much, such a kind compliment.
I love you channel especially as a history buff
So glad to have you here ! Glad you find value in my videos !
Just wanna put it out there....
Definitely wouldn't complain if you started making long format videos on the French Monarchy as well as these shorter ones!!!
I wish I could, but unfortunately I don't have the time to do this as I also have a job... this is a hobby for me and I spend up to 15 hours per week per video. Maybe in time, if the channel gets bigger and gets more views, but as it is it's just not feasible for me. I hope you understand.
@@TheKingsofFrance What does your channel need to become bigger? Is it just a matter of views, because if it is, I’ll start rewatching all your videos right now! :)
Either way, I think what you’re doing is fantastic and has a lot of potential for growth! You’re one of the only channels that offers concise high quality videos on French royals and nobles for English-speakers, and I can imagine how much work and stress it must be on your part. When I get the means, I promise to show my support with some $$$, but for now, I hope my time and appreciation is good enough. 🌷
@@aceofspades8634 nooo it’s fine… it’s just that the big channels have more means to invest in their videos, while i lack funds and time. I’m quite happy though with my channel and views as is… but to make 1 hr videos is just not feasible for me.
This is still related to Louis XII, but would you also consider doing a video on Pierre Terrail, seigneur de Bayard? Bayard was considered the epitome of chivalry for the time he lived in and was one of Louis XII's greatest knights. Saw very few videos on Bayard where his story needs to be be known more.
I’m not sure at this time. I’d definitely have to do some research before I’d be able to make a good video. But i’ll add the topic to my list of potential videos.
@@TheKingsofFrance Understandable for the time and research needed on Bayard, but thanks for at least considering him for a potential video! Also greatly enjoyed learning more about Louis XII's wives especially Anne of Brittany.
Another brilliant video about women I had very little knowledge of! Thank you so much, I so look forward to them!
Glad you liked it, thanks for watching !
Great work! Thanks!
Thanks Cerberus, glad you liked it !
Hi, Awesome live history video I enjoyed it can't wait to see more next week. How are you and Rani your cat doing? I'm doing well my cat Benjamin says hi to you and cute Rani your cat. Have a great day see you next video greetings from Canada 😀
Rani is very happily beside me watching me type... she's doing a lot better and I hope it'll stay like this for a while now. When will you have spring ? We have no snow but it's rather cold here (2° C) and we're eagerly awaiting the first sunny days. I hope the weather in Italy will be better !
Could you please make a video about Electress of Bavaria Maria Antonia, daughter of Maria Theresa of Spain, King Charles II's niece
I will put her on my 'to do' list... thank you for the suggestion.
You make these documents very interesting 🥰 it's wonderfull to know about lives so long ago! It's very nice to see how they looked like, too. You allways add many pictures. I like this very much! 😊❤️

Hi, awesome live history video. I enjoyed it. How's the weather where you are? We have a heatwave in Ontario, Canada this week. Have a great day. See you next video
Funny, we're having a heatwave here too ! At least until Monday temperatures until 30°. Not very fall-like. You have a great week too and hug Benjamin for us !
The ruthlessness of Royalty. At least the French had style. He got him to marry his "infertile pigeon toed hunched back daughter" to try to ensure he had no sons and thus would inherit his lands.
The Plantagenet Kings in England would have sent their army a day after the battle and killed the winning army to seize power.
How little Louis XI must've thought of his own daughter, I feel bad for Joan.
Awesome!
Thank you so much for watching again Toni !
Everytime I hear about his marriage to Mary Tudor, My teacher would say what a way to go.
I think Mary must've disagreed somewhat.
@@TheKingsofFrance True women weren't given too many options in terms of marriage mostly political pawns.
I love your videos. Mary Rose had a happy ending.
Poor Anne. I hope Joan was happy after her marriage ended with her abby. I'm glad Mary got to be happy in her second marriage.
Thanks for commenting... All in all, maybe Joan did lead a happier life eventually. We certainly can hope so.
Back on a rewatch but I always found the idea of selling one’s inheritance rights bizarre: isn’t the entire point of royalty that they rule by divine right of their bloodline? Doesn’t selling it negate that? I guess a duchy is less important but still,,,
Also, I share a middle name with Mary Tudor and our birthdays are only one day apart (18/19) that’s a cool fact
Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts…
Another boost!! ~
what is y’all’s favorite fruit if you have one? Mine is Mango or Lychee!! 💕

The capital of Brittany was Nantes under the Dukes of Brittany and was only transferred to Rennes after the Duchy was well secured and Nantes assigned to another region. This happened 60 years after her marriage to the King of France.
Thanks for sharing !
The capital of France was Paris, Never Nantes ! ( even if they lived around the Loire valley, Blois, Amboise.. )
@@carolinemarierafaellevanhu1740 Mistype, I meant Brittany and changed it...
This is totally correct @@kevinjewell233 😉
Actually Nantes was not the capital
I think you should make about the Spanish royal family
Yess!!😈💕
I have some videos about them online already, with time I'm sure more will be published ! Thank you for watching !
Fun fact: Anna of Britney was engaged to Edward the fifth of England.
Thanks for sharing !
I feel so bad for them all
Women were a commodity, sad but true... Thank you for watching Marina.
The complications, wars and heartbreak this royalty stuff caused is astounding.
Agreed. Thank you for watching.
Very interesting. Two comments. First, why was the Catholic Church so quick to grant annulments to French royalty, but would not grant one to Henry VIII? Second, the intrigue around French royalty was pretty great at the time, just as it was with English royalty. Therefore, I'm surprised that Shakespeare did not write plays (histories) about the French royals of the time as he did with Henry VIII.
Thanks for watching Paul. I think that Louis XII was lucky to have Alexander VI as the pope, he was quite corrupt and they literally just paid him off. As to Shakespeare, I have no clue. Perhaps he was just not as well aware of French developments as he was of the English ones.
History ❤
Anne of Brittany was supposed to marry Edward the V of England but, well, we all know how that went.
Great job with the video. Henry the VIII had Six wives, Ferdinand the seventh had four wives, Ivan the terrible had wives- Louis the 11th joins the club.
hey brother!! 💕✨
also, dont forget Solomon (or Jedidiah) of Israel!!

Pork chops baked on sautéed onions, in a coconut milk tarragon mustard sauce with sweet potato slices and melted cheese on top.
Haha awesome ! Thank you so much ! We went out to dinner. My entree was a carpaccio salad, and my dinner was a Pavé steak with vegetables. For desert we had some regional cheeses. It was lovely.
