Now I haven't played it, but if people complain the combat in God of War is repetitive in the hardest mode simply because "you find something that works and stick with it", the combat encounters are very poorly designed. That's the absolute best thing about the Souls games, sure you can tank it up with heavy armor and a shield but there are so many different ways of playing and all of them work. That said I still wanna play it. I'm sadly down a TV because my brother chose this excellent timing to move out and take the TV with him.
Carl Bernroth The hardest mode is meant to challenge you to defeat the best things the devs can throw at you, not to deliver a popcorn experience. That's why it was locked in the previous games until you finished the game the first time around. It's a challenge, and it will be boring unless you like to test yourself. I think they left it unlocked at the beginning of the game to torture new players.
I would love to see you guys stop worrying about spoilers for these shows. The flow would be much better if you guys were just speaking openly about the game. I understand trying not to spoil for each other, if one of you haven't finished a game, but people watching should just be responsible for themselves and spoilers.
Isn't that exactly what they do? They didn't spoil God of War since Ezekiel has not finished it. They even said they'd talk about it in full when he was done.
I don't agree. I still find the camera and positioning too restrictive to be able to say that it's almost always my fault I get hit. I'm often finding instances where I get hit and it feels horrible because there was literally nothing I could do about an enemy off screen or a projectile the my own body was blocking vision of.
That would basically require you to always make sure you're backing yourself into a corner since enemies you aren't even aware that have spawned can come in from off screen. Even then you're also, then, positioning yourself to be ganged up on and beaten in that corner. It wouldn't have been that difficult to pull back the camera in fights to allow you to have better vision of the field of combat. This is still a problem with the game and not how I'm playing, and suggesting otherwise is hand waving the issue.
No, you don't have to back yourself into a corner, you just need to move around to make sure ennemies are packed properly then just place yourself in a position when you still have plenty of room to run away. It's one of the skill that is part of the combat system. The Soulsborne have the same kind of combat logic behind. The game creators made that choice, and gave you enough options to deal with the issue. You just need to learn how to use them properly.
Poolback again you're hand waving the criticism while you try to defend it. You're giving vague "answers" in some attempt to make it the fault of the player. It's not. This specific perspective has always been problematic in gaming, and still is in God of War. Not to mention continuing to move doesn't help when on the footage in the show we can we see that you can clearly dodge something and get hit anyways. So the hit detection is also janky at times. I suggest you learn to just accept this game isn't perfect instead of blindly defending it's flaws.
I hope you all are going to talk about GoW again when you don't have to worry about what to say because this is painful to watch you tip toeing around what to say.
25:10 GOW talk
52:04 I was laughing the whole time that Cohh was sitting there waiting to deliver the meme that I have seen for weeks. Love it.

I'd like to point out in some of the footage they showed JP also got hit when he was clearly well out of the way of the attack.

Positionning is important, you shouldn't put yourself in situation where there are enemies off-screen.
That would basically require you to always make sure you're backing yourself into a corner since enemies you aren't even aware that have spawned can come in from off screen.
