Although even if it were the case I think it's fair to say Leon would win because of how the tournaments are structured. In a 6v6 she'd mop the floor with him in my opinion.
G-max wildfire set's a stronger fire spin that stays when switching and only lasts 4 turn, but does damage on the last regardless and doesn't affect fire types, not set up sun
I had actually a hard time battling him. And the very last fight with Hop after he captures Zacian (I played Shield) gave me a loooot of trouble because he was on average 5 levels over me. I only had Zamazenta left whereas normally I beat all of his Pokemon in no time.
I was scared when I entered the Leon fight as my highest level matched his Aegislash. Still wasn't that tough since I'm experienced with competitive battling. With the final battle with Hop. We actually ended up having a draw as I underestimated his Zacian. I was really disappointed that the game wouldn't take the draw and made me fight again to win. A draw would have been the perfect ending for our story.
The main trouble when fighting FIA hop was that his Zacian set up one swords dance and started going to TOWN on my team sweeping it basically. For leon unfortunately I abused the free switch in and type advantages and the other legendary to get before him (forgot its name enteritus maybe?) So I felt underwhelmed and slightly disappointed maybe I'll do a nother playthrou with battle style switched to set or somthing.
Whenever I see people say Leon was an easy champion, it's because they were usually over leveled. If you take on Leon at the same level as him or even slightly under leveled, he is actually pretty hard, I lost to him the first time. I wasn't expecting his Charizard to have coverage for all his weaknesses lol. And wasn't expecting Haxorus to have coverage for fairies.
@@nit0134 Yeah man, the first time I attempted battling Iris in BW2. I had a decent team but my levels were one or two levels below hers. But since I wasn't experienced with Pokémon at that time, It was very hard. I think pokemon fans nowadays are some 20-30 year olds who think that a children's game will be hard for them that they have already mastered.

And believe it or not, most people who fought Leon that weren't over leveled do say he's one of the harder champions, some say he WAS the hardest. Up until BDSP where Cynthia's team got perfect IVs and items. Because if you actually have fought Cynthia, she was extremely overhyped. Her team could be easily beaten by a single Weavile. Also, yes, you do have to play the games to know. You can't blindly believe people because there is extreme bias, especially against Sw/Sh.

Yeah, Leon definitely is a force to be reckoned with, for sure. By the way, while it may seem odd for Dragapult to have Dragon Breath for a move, it does have Draco meteor in the post-game battles, only making it a little more dangerous. Good work with this analysis, very on-point. Wonder who you'll go over next?
Leon's team, even the one that resulted from the main protag picking Sobble, still has one weakness: the Eternatus you end up catching before him, which rocks Flamethrower for the Aegislash on which it sets up, and then just sweeps with dynamax cannon, especially against the gigantamax Charizard. Then again Eternatus is just that op anyways, at least partly due to dynamax cannon
If you are using a Legendary as an experienced trainer to win you don't deserve the title anyway. Using Eternatus or any Legendary during the League is more for helping kids complete the game. PS. I watched a Poketuber play SWSH when it first came out and he lost the first time, brought Eternatus and then still lost so it's not an auto win condition using Legendaries and he even said he doesn't deserve the Champion title after winning the 3rd fight.
actually, he's not strong, I 3-0 him with a mono type team (dragon) while being underleveled by almost 10 levels, my only mon in the 60s is my eternatus
my team is 56 haxorus, 55 flapple, 61 eternatus, 56 kommo-o, 57 flygon and 57 duraludon, and before you ask, I didn't heal nor use item nor D-max/G-max in the fight and have it on set mode
Honestly I think Leon IS DEFINITIVELY the strongest trainer in the anime at this point. (Unless we still counting Mewtwo lol.) He's also a strong contender for strongest champion you face in the games. His best competition isn't freakin' Hustle Togekiss either, it's probably Iris with her held items. (Also I always packed icebeam and have literally never NOT one shot her garchomp so yeah I have never found Cynthia difficult at all in the games. Leon wasn't a 6-0 sweep like she usually is.) Still though I think his Sobble Team is definitely better (and higher leveled if I remember right) than Iris' team anyways.
@S W And I consistently 6-0 sweep Cynthia when I play but have managed to lose 3 mons when fighting Leon in a nuzlocke. Hell, even derp me almost never lost a mon to Cynthia. His Charizard has unironically taken out more of my mons than Cynthia's entire team ever has, and I've easily faced her three to four times more than I've faced Leon.
Lance, Cynthia, Iris and Kukui still haunt my dreams to this day. Compared to them, Leon was extremely easy to beat (not as much as Diantha, though, she was a joke of a Champion). Anime and games may be different, even if the anime may may call Leon the "strongest" Champion, in the games he's one of the easiest Champions to defeat. Most players found Lance/Cynthia/Iris/Other much harder to beat than Leon. BW2 Ghetsis, who isn't even a Champion, gave me much more trouble to defeat than Leon. The only time I went "Oh, shit" was that one moment where I go, "Oh, shit, GMAX-Charizard knows a grass-type move". Then my Inteleon proceeded to one-shot Charizard after tanking the grass-type move. The rest of the battle was so easy I breezed through it. I even had a harder time against Nessa, Piers and Raihan (not that they are Cynthia level of difficult, though) who lore--wise are weaker than him. I feel that if the fight against him in the games had been harder, there wouldn't be near as much hatred towards him (nostalgia may also play a factor here towards the hatred to Leon). Pokémon players may find infuriating that the anime portrays the Champion they easily beat in the games (Leon) as the best of the best, as a much stronger trainer than the Champions they (the players) actually struggled to defeat (Lance, Cynthia, Iris) in the games. It simply feels weird to see how the anime treats one of the easiest to defeat Champion as if he was the best, because those who played SWSH and fought him beat him without having near as much of a hellishlly difficult battle against him did not get that impression of him being the best. You could say it feels "innacurate". The impression players got from him was "He's the Champion of Galar. He's a lovable guy. He gets lost easily. He has a Charizard. I feel bad because I'm going to beat him. I don't want to beat him. I feel awful I beat him" + getting told 10000 times he's undefeated. He's a good boy, the anime simply put in a pedestal a character Pokémon players don't consider that much strong compared to others.

It's can be assumed that in the anime Leon defeated every other champion to crown Galar as the region with the top trainer. It is understandable that Lance would want a rematch because it's safe to assume he was the first champion Leon defeated (assuming he defeated them in region order). However, Ash being champion of Alola hints towards Leon only being the strongest trainer because not all regions have participated in the tournament, which is why we've yet to see trainers like Steven or Diantha (or Alain if he defeated Diantha). We don't know enough to confirm for sure but it's much more likely he hasn't defeated every region's champion because not all of them have participated (also Leon was heavily sponsored for his wins).
This was me, but I had my Intelion. I said gg ez. Did a max geyser, Charizard lived. "Charizard used Max Overgrowth". I got humbled REAL QUICK lol. I won the 2nd try though
Also in-game he's arguably the second strongest champion behind Cynthia, so the anime writers have him defeat Lance as to not anger fans who believe he should never have been able to beat Cynthia.
He's actually way stronger than Cynthia, in lore Raihan (The Dragon Gym Leader of Galar) is strong enough to go to another regions and become champion easily, and he never beated Leon in a combat.
Leon is by far my fave champion. He is so sweet, kind, actually does his job and not sit around and is really competitive even though he does have a bit of a cocky side. He protects you from eterntaus blast while most other champions would just sit by and watch you get killed. (Looking at YOU Cynthia!!) Plus there based on that line from Twilight wings; "He's not really smiling" It breaks my heart. This shows Leon is forcing a smile for the crowd and he could very well be suffering deep down. Seriously this man needs a hug and a vacation!
i agree 100% i rlly love his character and i think they did a good job showing the core aspect of “having fun and being the best” in pokemon through leon and he represents a champion in every way, taking care of the region and being the strongest.
@@ediakin4993 considering that some champions that people hype up have duplicate pokemon (lance had 3 dragonite for both iterations of gen 2 games lol) the fact that some champions used ONE specific type of pokemon (making it easier to exploit their common weaknesses) and the fact that alot of the time, when people look back on these games and think they were hard....most of the time the hype and praise is from pure nostalgia and the fact that they were children or much younger when playing them. People hype up cynthia as the hardest champion ever, and i got hyped for it only to one shot her whole team first fucking try WITHOUT being over leveled....was a let down. The truth is, is that the champions are npcs, that most of the players at the time these games originally came out were less experienced as a whole, and majority of champions teams didnt change much at all, let alone based on the players starting pokemon of choice. The only champions in the franchise that attempt to counter act the players potential team choices are blue, hau's (but his overall team sucks) and leon. Its pretty evident that alot of people took heavy advantage of the diferent grade exp candies from raid battles, while also having the experience share. Its not the players fault that thats how the game was designed, but Of course by default the vast majority of people are gonna beat him just by the sheer force of a lvl 80 or 90+ mon against a lvl 50-60 mon. (Which was honestly just an oversight or an attempt to help the children that the game is primarily marketed for) Even then, he still pulls tricks with his team, having decent coverage moves to help his whole team against their weaknesses. Also, his mons abilities are actually good or decent unlike a hustle Togekiss. Aegislash is a menance if you dont take it seriously, his rypherior is able to live a one shot and has a chance to take out at least one mon if your not careful, he has a pseudo and many were embarislingly humbled by his charizards tricks cause they under estimated it. In the post game battle tower,( where there is absolutely zero level advantage ) His team changes again, randomly consisting of EVERY possible pokemon he can have (regardless of which starter you picked, and will always have charizard cause duh) INCLUDING their moves each time in the battle tower. Gotta stay on your toes with him cause he actually does adapt and switch it up. Frequently. Theres been a few times where I was even humbled in there by him. Sw and sheild wasn't perfect but it really isnt that bad, and as far as an npc champion goes, i have to give it to leon.

Its been cool seeing the games and characters evolve with their capabilities with the franchises capabilities constantly growing and improving. I hope they continue the trend. I'll give it a few more years until people realize how much leon set up for future titles and characters.

You're right depending on which starter the player chooses in Pokemon sword and shield Leon's team will be entirely different you know since he's the unbeatable champion in the games you also forgot to mention the depending on which version the player has either sword or shield they get to battle sword or shield board

Leon is number 1 in the World Coronation Series, if Cynthia or any other notable champions are participating and haven’t taken his spot yet, then technically Leon could be considered the strongest anime wise.
I’m going to be honest. I think Leon is a harder fight than Cynthia. After doing a Nuzlocke of both Platinum and Shield, I struggled so much more against Leon’s team than I did against Cynthias. People need to start giving my man Leon the love he deserves

But I honestly think it could be debated, they are both really good. But there's not a clear one that's better than the other. I've seen alot of people say they've swept Cynthia and lost to Leon, and vice versa. Either way, I definitely think Cynthia and Leon are the 2 strongest champions.
The Galar Cup battle was decently easy, but battling him in the Battle Tower was always hard especially if I didn’t have Pokémon ready for his Charizard
It’s just that most of us have learned how to battle, last week I played Platinum for the first time and demolished Cynthia easily with set battle style and a bit underleveld, so I believe it’s mostly experience
As far as the Pokemon Company is concerned Leon is the strongest Trainer with how they are presenting him and his game teams make this a fair argument being strong and well balanced for the most part. Even if it isn't necessarily canon I would point out that in Pokemon Masters Leon with his Charizard battles Blue and his Blastiose in which he wins without Dynamaxing. That is likely his most impressive feat beating a Champion trainer without his full strength and at a type disadvantage.
I think the simplest way to describe it is that Cynthia has a much stronger defensive backbone and Leon has a good amount of punch. I personally don't think his team is stronger 6 v 6, but it's certainly filled with individual powerhouses.

And not actually looking at the stats here (Even so, Milotic and Gastrodon have nothing to deal with Mr.Rime, except for Stone Edge on Gastrodon, but considering its slower).

I think Leon is hard but not Cynthia's or Iris levels of hard. I don't know if he can beat Cynthia. I'm 50-50 on who the victor is. But all I could see he has pretty diverse team not like lance the bird keeper.
@@jmetivier9217 Depends on the canon your looking at, in Anime he is confirmed the #1 trainer, we also have never seen him battle Cynthia in the anime but id assume he would have to get #1 but that is not confirmed. In games Cynthia has a more well balanced team her ace has a higher speed stat and has no problem ohko a Charizard, and Leon also has multiple members of his team with x4 weakness to members of Cynthia's team.
@@alucard8433 only two of his pokemon have two times weakness. If we do go by levels Lein Charizard is level 80 with his other pokemon at level 75 so even as in game team he is stronger
@@jmetivier9217 If were going by games, the last time we saw Cynthia's team was in Black 2 and White 2 when she was visiting Unova her team was lvl 78's and that was around 2012 so its safe to assume her Pokemon would be even stronger now almost 10 years later but for the argument were gonna assume both teams are the same levels.

A top 3 champ easy by pretty much every metric. He's likely 2-3 in the games (Cynthia obviously being number 1), but Leon is also probably the strongest champ in the anime depending on if he fought Cynthia or not (beating two other members of the master class is probably something nobody else in the master class has done in the anime).
Well if we use lore from the game Leon is absolutely the strongest. In the game Raihan is stated to be strong enough to go to any region and become champion. For the sake of argument let's say he is on the same level as champion. Raihan is trainer how has been able to knock out the most of Leon pokemon. So by going off this he isn't even able to bring him to last pokemon and remember I'm low balling Raihan to be the same level as champions even though stronger than most. So that means most if not all champions can't even bring him to last pokemon including Cynthia how dosen't anything saying how strong she is in lore out side of being champion. So Leon is absolutely the strongest but of course you are in title to your opinion and I'm sorry of it comes of as to critical
But if you look at the game itself Cynthia is in a refund where their aren't that many pokemon and most people use the same 20 pokemon on their team. But Leon is in a region were you have a lot of options to go against him plus game freak made it so it's easy for anyone to start competitive so they have dynamax candies and competitive items around the region.
If we look at teams in the games though, Leon completely destroys Cynthia with his Inteleon team (Mr Rime alone solo's 4 of Cynthia's mons with its typing an Free-Dry). Cynthia doesn't fare well against the Cinderace team either (Due to Charizard defeats 4 of her mons with typing and Max Overgrowth) and Seismitoad solo's Lucario due to Lucario being part Steel (Whic means Lucario also is weak against Charizard and Cinderace). The only team Cynthia does well against is the Rillaboom team, but this is because of Rhyperior dragging the team down and Roserades part poison typing. So no, Leon is stronger due to the sheer fact 2 out of his 3 teams overpowering Cynthia's team.

Leon Anime apparently has all Galarian pokemon except Charizard He has Cinderace, Inteleon, Rillaboom, Mr.Rime, Dragapult. All Galarian pokemon. Of all other regional champs besides Ash, I only see Cynthia actually having a shot at beating him.
A series of how strong the human characters are in pokemon would be an awesome idea, maybe you could do cinthia, steve and all the other champions and evil team leaders and other trainers

Comparing each pokemon individually his are better, especially in terms of competitive viability in the games, and yeah Garchomp would easily beat Charizard in the games. Cynthia's team has much better syneegy though making her better in a 6 v 6 overall, and in the anime a 1v1 between Garchomp & Charizard would be a lot closer. It really all comes down to the conditions of the bout, and whether we're talking in game or in show.

I actually beat Leon’s aegislash with my own aegislash (which was a level lower) on my first run when it used shadow ball. I thought my aegislash was done for, but it lived with 11-12 HP. Then I used my aegislash against Leon’s aegislash, which was in its blade form and I ONE-SHOT it with a shadow ball of my own. I’d give the MVP spot to my aegislash, coalossal and eternatus (since they helped beat charizard).
Leon is just ridiculously good as a trainer, and I wish the rest of pokémon sword/shield had teams like that. It has just overwhelming offense who punishes hard anyone who is playing on set mode. Despite how annoying charizard fanservice is, I have to admit that he is the strongest champion from a gameplay standpoint, even more than Cynthia because she starts with an easy setup sweep victim in Spiritomb, while Aegislash has 140 attack.
It doesn’t make any difference if a 🧚♀️ or ❄️ Pokémon is facing Lance hell be in trouble if he as a champion had a Metagross instead of a Salamence it would improve his team

Leon might be a bit stronger than Cynthia If Dragapult has huge 142 base speed it can outspeed Togekiss and Garchomp. Charizard can take down Lucario, Roserade and Milotic. And about Milotic it might be safer for Leon to have Rillaboom on his team for another Pokemon to cover Milotic and it also can destroy Gastrodon easily. For me personally in the games Cynthia was a huge challenge in DPPt more than Leon, but if I look in the newer games Leon was a bigger challenge than Cynthia BDSP
I get they're trying to market Galar but Bea being in the top 8 of the Champions League is so weird. At least with Raihan, he's canonically the strongest gym leader of Galar. Like Volkner in Sinnoh. So where does Alder, Steven Stone, Wallace, and Diantha fit in? What about Richie, Paul, Tobias, Harrison, Tyson, and Alain? The Elite 4 members from the various regions? Surely they would all be stronger than a few gym leaders.
I don't think she is actually in the Masters 8 (There are more hidden characters behind Cynthia). She is most likely in Hyper Class, but the last hurdle for Ash to get into Master Class. I don't think Raihan is the strongest gym leader in Galar, cuz post-game kinda implies this is Piers, considering he nearly edged out Raihan without using Dynamax (While Raihan did).
Saying rhyperior is gonna survive a water move from intelleon is so cap. Yeah theres solid rock but you still got 4x weakness with garbo special defense and intelleon has pretty high SPA.

Here's who I really really want to see in the Pokemon Journeys Anime TV Series Masters Class 8 Leon, Lance, Riahan, Cynthia, Diantha, Steven Stone, Lorelei Elite Four member, and also Ash! I still say I think that the Strongest Champion in Pokemon will always be Champion Cynthia even if she loses or not because Leon isn't scarey whatsoever during your Battle against him or at any point throughout the storyline of the Pokemon Sword and Shield Games as Champion Cynthia was and still is to this day whenever you replay through the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Games!
It all depends on the canon, if your looking at Anime as of right now Leon is the strongest, if your looking at the games id give the edge to Cynthia she has a more well balanced team and Leons team has multiple x4 weakness mons and Cynthia's ace can easily ohko a Charizard.

G-max wildfire set's a stronger fire spin that stays when switching and only lasts 4 turn, but does damage on the last regardless and doesn't affect fire types, not set up sun

I had actually a hard time battling him. And the very last fight with Hop after he captures Zacian (I played Shield) gave me a loooot of trouble because he was on average 5 levels over me. I only had Zamazenta left whereas normally I beat all of his Pokemon in no time.
I was scared when I entered the Leon fight as my highest level matched his Aegislash. Still wasn't that tough since I'm experienced with competitive battling. With the final battle with Hop. We actually ended up having a draw as I underestimated his Zacian. I was really disappointed that the game wouldn't take the draw and made me fight again to win. A draw would have been the perfect ending for our story.
I wiped the floor with him when I got zaican.
The main trouble when fighting FIA hop was that his Zacian set up one swords dance and started going to TOWN on my team sweeping it basically. For leon unfortunately I abused the free switch in and type advantages and the other legendary to get before him (forgot its name enteritus maybe?) So I felt underwhelmed and slightly disappointed maybe I'll do a nother playthrou with battle style switched to set or somthing.

Whenever I see people say Leon was an easy champion, it's because they were usually over leveled. If you take on Leon at the same level as him or even slightly under leveled, he is actually pretty hard, I lost to him the first time. I wasn't expecting his Charizard to have coverage for all his weaknesses lol. And wasn't expecting Haxorus to have coverage for fairies.

But since I wasn't experienced with Pokémon at that time, It was very hard. Also, yes, you do have to play the games to know. You can't blindly believe people because there is extreme bias, especially against Sw/Sh.

Leon's team, even the one that resulted from the main protag picking Sobble, still has one weakness: the Eternatus you end up catching before him, which rocks Flamethrower for the Aegislash on which it sets up, and then just sweeps with dynamax cannon, especially against the gigantamax Charizard. Then again Eternatus is just that op anyways, at least partly due to dynamax cannon
If you are using a Legendary as an experienced trainer to win you don't deserve the title anyway. Using Eternatus or any Legendary during the League is more for helping kids complete the game.
PS. I watched a Poketuber play SWSH when it first came out and he lost the first time, brought Eternatus and then still lost so it's not an auto win condition using Legendaries and he even said he doesn't deserve the Champion title after winning the 3rd fight.

Honestly I think Leon IS DEFINITIVELY the strongest trainer in the anime at this point. (Unless we still counting Mewtwo lol.) He's also a strong contender for strongest champion you face in the games. His best competition isn't freakin' Hustle Togekiss either, it's probably Iris with her held items. (Also I always packed icebeam and have literally never NOT one shot her garchomp so yeah I have never found Cynthia difficult at all in the games. Leon wasn't a 6-0 sweep like she usually is.) Still though I think his Sobble Team is definitely better (and higher leveled if I remember right) than Iris' team anyways.

@S W And I consistently 6-0 sweep Cynthia when I play but have managed to lose 3 mons when fighting Leon in a nuzlocke. Hell, even derp me almost never lost a mon to Cynthia. His Charizard has unironically taken out more of my mons than Cynthia's entire team ever has, and I've easily faced her three to four times more than I've faced Leon.

Lance, Cynthia, Iris and Kukui still haunt my dreams to this day. Compared to them, Leon was extremely easy to beat (not as much as Diantha, though, she was a joke of a Champion).
Anime and games may be different, even if the anime may may call Leon the "strongest" Champion, in the games he's one of the easiest Champions to defeat. Most players found Lance/Cynthia/Iris/Other much harder to beat than Leon. BW2 Ghetsis, who isn't even a Champion, gave me much more trouble to defeat than Leon.
The only time I went "Oh, shit" was that one moment where I go, "Oh, shit, GMAX-Charizard knows a grass-type move". Then my Inteleon proceeded to one-shot Charizard after tanking the grass-type move. The rest of the battle was so easy I breezed through it. I even had a harder time against Nessa, Piers and Raihan (not that they are Cynthia level of difficult, though) who lore--wise are weaker than him.
I feel that if the fight against him in the games had been harder, there wouldn't be near as much hatred towards him (nostalgia may also play a factor here towards the hatred to Leon).
Pokémon players may find infuriating that the anime portrays the Champion they easily beat in the games (Leon) as the best of the best, as a much stronger trainer than the Champions they (the players) actually struggled to defeat (Lance, Cynthia, Iris) in the games.
It simply feels weird to see how the anime treats one of the easiest to defeat Champion as if he was the best, because those who played SWSH and fought him beat him without having near as much of a hellishlly difficult battle against him did not get that impression of him being the best. You could say it feels "innacurate". The impression players got from him was "He's the Champion of Galar. He's a lovable guy. He gets lost easily. He has a Charizard. I feel bad because I'm going to beat him. I don't want to beat him. I feel awful I beat him" + getting told 10000 times he's undefeated. He's a good boy, the anime simply put in a pedestal a character Pokémon players don't consider that much strong compared to others.

It's can be assumed that in the anime Leon defeated every other champion to crown Galar as the region with the top trainer. It is understandable that Lance would want a rematch because it's safe to assume he was the first champion Leon defeated (assuming he defeated them in region order). However, Ash being champion of Alola hints towards Leon only being the strongest trainer because not all regions have participated in the tournament, which is why we've yet to see trainers like Steven or Diantha (or Alain if he defeated Diantha). We don't know enough to confirm for sure but it's much more likely he hasn't defeated every region's champion because not all of them have participated (also Leon was heavily sponsored for his wins).
I do think his strength is a big exaggerated with a charizard though one stone edge will put him out of commission

Also in-game he's arguably the second strongest champion behind Cynthia, so the anime writers have him defeat Lance as to not anger fans who believe he should never have been able to beat Cynthia.
He's actually way stronger than Cynthia, in lore Raihan (The Dragon Gym Leader of Galar) is strong enough to go to another regions and become champion easily, and he never beated Leon in a combat.
So yes, Cynthia is nothing compared to him.

@@ediakin4993 considering that some champions that people hype up have duplicate pokemon (lance had 3 dragonite for both iterations of gen 2 games lol) the fact that some champions used ONE specific type of pokemon (making it easier to exploit their common weaknesses) and the fact that alot of the time, when people look back on these games and think they were hard....most of the time the hype and praise is from pure nostalgia and the fact that they were children or much younger when playing them.
People hype up cynthia as the hardest champion ever, and i got hyped for it only to one shot her whole team first fucking try WITHOUT being over leveled....was a let down. The truth is, is that the champions are npcs, that most of the players at the time these games originally came out were less experienced as a whole, and majority of champions teams didnt change much at all, let alone based on the players starting pokemon of choice. The only champions in the franchise that attempt to counter act the players potential team choices are blue, hau's (but his overall team sucks) and leon.
Its pretty evident that alot of people took heavy advantage of the diferent grade exp candies from raid battles, while also having the experience share. Its not the players fault that thats how the game was designed, but Of course by default the vast majority of people are gonna beat him just by the sheer force of a lvl 80 or 90+ mon against a lvl 50-60 mon. (Which was honestly just an oversight or an attempt to help the children that the game is primarily marketed for) Even then, he still pulls tricks with his team, having decent coverage moves to help his whole team against their weaknesses. Also, his mons abilities are actually good or decent unlike a hustle Togekiss. Aegislash is a menance if you dont take it seriously, his rypherior is able to live a one shot and has a chance to take out at least one mon if your not careful, he has a pseudo and many were embarislingly humbled by his charizards tricks cause they under estimated it. In the post game battle tower,( where there is absolutely zero level advantage ) His team changes again, randomly consisting of EVERY possible pokemon he can have (regardless of which starter you picked, and will always have charizard cause duh) INCLUDING their moves each time in the battle tower. Gotta stay on your toes with him cause he actually does adapt and switch it up. Frequently. Theres been a few times where I was even humbled in there by him. Sw and sheild wasn't perfect but it really isnt that bad, and as far as an npc champion goes, i have to give it to leon.

Leon is number 1 in the World Coronation Series, if Cynthia or any other notable champions are participating and haven’t taken his spot yet, then technically Leon could be considered the strongest anime wise.
Also keep in mind that he’s the “Undefeated Champion” implying that he hasn’t been beat since he attained the title of champion.
I’m going to be honest. I think Leon is a harder fight than Cynthia. After doing a Nuzlocke of both Platinum and Shield, I struggled so much more against Leon’s team than I did against Cynthias. People need to start giving my man Leon the love he deserves

As far as the Pokemon Company is concerned Leon is the strongest Trainer with how they are presenting him and his game teams make this a fair argument being strong and well balanced for the most part.
Even if it isn't necessarily canon I would point out that in Pokemon Masters Leon with his Charizard battles Blue and his Blastiose in which he wins without Dynamaxing. That is likely his most impressive feat beating a Champion trainer without his full strength and at a type disadvantage.
Honestly, he's up there with Cynthia. They both have very diverse teams.
I think the simplest way to describe it is that Cynthia has a much stronger defensive backbone and Leon has a good amount of punch. I personally don't think his team is stronger 6 v 6, but it's certainly filled with individual powerhouses.

A top 3 champ easy by pretty much every metric. He's likely 2-3 in the games (Cynthia obviously being number 1), but Leon is also probably the strongest champ in the anime depending on if he fought Cynthia or not (beating two other members of the master class is probably something nobody else in the master class has done in the anime).
Well if we use lore from the game Leon is absolutely the strongest. In the game Raihan is stated to be strong enough to go to any region and become champion. For the sake of argument let's say he is on the same level as champion. Raihan is trainer how has been able to knock out the most of Leon pokemon. So by going off this he isn't even able to bring him to last pokemon and remember I'm low balling Raihan to be the same level as champions even though stronger than most. So that means most if not all champions can't even bring him to last pokemon including Cynthia how dosen't anything saying how strong she is in lore out side of being champion. So Leon is absolutely the strongest but of course you are in title to your opinion and I'm sorry of it comes of as to critical
But if you look at the game itself Cynthia is in a refund where their aren't that many pokemon and most people use the same 20 pokemon on their team. But Leon is in a region were you have a lot of options to go against him plus game freak made it so it's easy for anyone to start competitive so they have dynamax candies and competitive items around the region.
If we look at teams in the games though, Leon completely destroys Cynthia with his Inteleon team (Mr Rime alone solo's 4 of Cynthia's mons with its typing an Free-Dry). Cynthia doesn't fare well against the Cinderace team either (Due to Charizard defeats 4 of her mons with typing and Max Overgrowth) and Seismitoad solo's Lucario due to Lucario being part Steel (Whic means Lucario also is weak against Charizard and Cinderace). The only team Cynthia does well against is the Rillaboom team, but this is because of Rhyperior dragging the team down and Roserades part poison typing.
So no, Leon is stronger due to the sheer fact 2 out of his 3 teams overpowering Cynthia's team.

Leon Anime apparently has all Galarian pokemon except Charizard
He has Cinderace, Inteleon, Rillaboom, Mr.Rime, Dragapult. All Galarian pokemon.
Of all other regional champs besides Ash, I only see Cynthia actually having a shot at beating him.

Comparing each pokemon individually his are better, especially in terms of competitive viability in the games, and yeah Garchomp would easily beat Charizard in the games. Cynthia's team has much better syneegy though making her better in a 6 v 6 overall, and in the anime a 1v1 between Garchomp & Charizard would be a lot closer. It really all comes down to the conditions of the bout, and whether we're talking in game or in show.

I actually beat Leon’s aegislash with my own aegislash (which was a level lower) on my first run when it used shadow ball. I thought my aegislash was done for, but it lived with 11-12 HP. Then I used my aegislash against Leon’s aegislash, which was in its blade form and I ONE-SHOT it with a shadow ball of my own. I’d give the MVP spot to my aegislash, coalossal and eternatus (since they helped beat charizard).

Leon is just ridiculously good as a trainer, and I wish the rest of pokémon sword/shield had teams like that. It has just overwhelming offense who punishes hard anyone who is playing on set mode. Despite how annoying charizard fanservice is, I have to admit that he is the strongest champion from a gameplay standpoint, even more than Cynthia because she starts with an easy setup sweep victim in Spiritomb, while Aegislash has 140 attack.

Leon might be a bit stronger than Cynthia If Dragapult has huge 142 base speed it can outspeed Togekiss and Garchomp. Charizard can take down Lucario, Roserade and Milotic. And about Milotic it might be safer for Leon to have Rillaboom on his team for another Pokemon to cover Milotic and it also can destroy Gastrodon easily. For me personally in the games Cynthia was a huge challenge in DPPt more than Leon, but if I look in the newer games Leon was a bigger challenge than Cynthia BDSP

I don't think she is actually in the Masters 8 (There are more hidden characters behind Cynthia). She is most likely in Hyper Class, but the last hurdle for Ash to get into Master Class. I don't think Raihan is the strongest gym leader in Galar, cuz post-game kinda implies this is Piers, considering he nearly edged out Raihan without using Dynamax (While Raihan did).

Saying rhyperior is gonna survive a water move from intelleon is so cap. Yeah theres solid rock but you still got 4x weakness with garbo special defense and intelleon has pretty high SPA.

Here's who I really really want to see in the Pokemon Journeys Anime TV Series Masters Class 8 Leon, Lance, Riahan, Cynthia, Diantha, Steven Stone, Lorelei Elite Four member, and also Ash! I still say I think that the Strongest Champion in Pokemon will always be Champion Cynthia even if she loses or not because Leon isn't scarey whatsoever during your Battle against him or at any point throughout the storyline of the Pokemon Sword and Shield Games as Champion Cynthia was and still is to this day whenever you replay through the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl Games!

It all depends on the canon, if your looking at Anime as of right now Leon is the strongest, if your looking at the games id give the edge to Cynthia she has a more well balanced team and Leons team has multiple x4 weakness mons and Cynthia's ace can easily ohko a Charizard.
