Nice 12, I still have a 60s sunburst XII I bought from the want ads way back when they were just used guitars not classic or vintage as they're referred to today. This on is actually call an "Alternate Reality Electric XII" and the fingerboard is Pau Ferro not Rosewood, I've read it is a little dryer hence the oiling is a good thing. PS they often call it the "hockey stick headstock" .
Hockey stick! Perfect. Yeah, I read that it was Pau Perro after the fact. Really is a pretty piece of wood and darker that most of the PF I've seen. Thanks for watching!
lol...sure the pau ferro neck was likely dry (especially if new or sat in the store), you could even hit it twice lightly with an oil of your choice. But it's not a salad like here! 😉
When it arrived, Was your action too high as you went up the fretboard? I’m struggling to get mine set right. Might try 9 gauge to lower the tension and one of these shims. Thanks for the vid!
It definitely was! The neck was very straight so just adding the shim worked for me. If the neck has a bow I'd take it to a shop for them to work on it. I've broken a truss rod before. No fun.
Right now I have it listed for $1,850. It comes with a gig bag and extra strings. www.johnteachesmusic.com/store/p/rare-2019-fender-alternate-universe-electric-xii-lake-placid-blue-wgigbag
Well, I'm the guy who now owns this very guitar! Fabulous instrument and well-cared for. John is the best! I highly recommend his channel!
It sounds great!
Thanks! It's a great guitar.

I don’t know what that means, but I’m gonna use the phrase. It’s not a salad like here every day. .
@@JohnMcNicholas you can take it easy on the fretboard oil...use in drops, even between every fret. Not lines.
@quad1000 great advice!

@@JohnMcNicholas Thanks John!
I made them fix it before I left the store
Holy s*** the number of shims that fell of the neck tells you a lot about Fender MIM QC…
Yeah, that was unexpected!
🌈 awesome 🎸
thank you!
