This renewal of the Arlington Million was one of the stronger G1 wins of Gio Ponti's career, IMO. Einstein & Presious Passion both multiple G1 winners in America, Stotsfold came in off a win in the G3 La Coupe at Longchamp Racecourse in France, Cima De Triomphe had just defeated 2-time BC Turf winner, Conduit, in the G3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown in the UK, and Gloria De Campeao came in off a 2nd behind Well Armed on conventional dirt in the G1 Dubai World Cup and a win on turf at Kranji in the G1 Singapore Airlines International Cup. Plus Just As Well and Mr Sydney not with as big of resume's, but both very decent horses themselves. Definitely wasn't an easy field for Gio Ponti to beat.
